You generally don't build a business empire by being a moron, but how did he really think players would take it when he says to them we are not going to spend any more money and there is no help coming and you are on your own. Which is a different way of spinning his comments.

I am being really sarcastic and am likely to get even more sarcastic and facetious. Oh don't get me wrong, I wasn't suggesting getting rid of Skinner was a mistake, quite the opposite (we should have gotten rid of him when Kreuger (for all his flaws) told us he was garbage). I'm just saying not ALL Sabres who leave go on to greatness.

Yup, it takes a lot to stay this inept this long for sure. We have a ridiculous number of former first round picks on this roster. Far more than any team I can think of and yet still, the same results.

I'm 100% sure that's what Adams was thinking at the time. Most likely they looked at JBot not doing it with Reinhart as a mistake they didn't want to repeat. Fundamentally it's based on complete confidence in their own drafting though and their projected ceilings rather than on ice performance to date.

Ya, I don't get how anybody still pays money to go see them. Whether I watch them or not has no financial impact since I just have sportsnet plus anyway regardless but I have shifted back to watching them on replay now not live. This has happened every year for the last few years. Usually not until the new year, but the hope this year faded fast. There is a part of me now that kind of wants them to go really bad this year so that Pegula has no choice but to fire Adams but then on the other hand I have faith he'd screw up the next hire too so ultimately it doesn't matter. Wish the on ice product was more entertaining though.

There is a bit of a trap there isn't there? What can a coach do when his potential call ups and replacements are a bunch of green rookies not NHL ready? You want accountability it has to be based on effort, not necessarily results. If a guy tries to make the right play but fails because he's not able to that's acceptable, but if a guy floats and doesn't do anything then he should sit. Based on the Leaf game, Peterka should sit. Will he? Unlikely. Ruff is being accountable, but what can he really do?

Carrot or a stick? Who knows. Who cares. Maybe he will threaten them with low flow shower heads in the dressing room. Maybe he will promise them French hookers. He's not going up there to fire anybody. He probably just had a hankering for a smoked meat bagel sandwich. The Petterson rumors might be real. Him and Miller apparently have serious beef so maybe that town ain't big enough for the both of them.
