Definitely true. I'm not convinced he isn't an idiot, but he definitely lacks imagination. He has not found ways to work around his obstacles and he hasn't reacted quickly to problems (and has definitely not seen those problems coming).
-
Never saw him that way. "Fine with being mediocre". I saw him as confused a lot but lack of effort wasn't a critique I'd put on him. Power on the other hand, well, yes, sometimes he looks like he just doesn't care.
-
More than you.

Oh he has the "coinage". Question is will he use it? He puts too much faith in the existing players reaching their ceilings than in going out and getting immediate help. I think he believes too strongly in his draft picks (and their ceilings) and doesn't critically analyze what he actually has on the ice very well. Good GMs adapt and change when things do not go according to plan.

I wonder if Lindy has been frustrated by a situation where he has no veteran call up possibilities. As a coach what power does he have to sit a Quinn (as an example) if that just means calling up a Rosen to replace him? The lack of internal competition for roster spots has to make the life of a coach near impossible.
-
Is Adams in a lame duck position? One can hope. idk, if it was true that Adams wanted Appert as coach and Terry told him to hire Lindy then there's a relationship there and that's good. Not good for Adams, but good for everyone else. The question is what is Lindy saying or asking for? I'd hope he gets to fire all his assistants and bring in his own but I suspect that's unlikely. Are we too young? Obviously. Is the whole waiting for prospects not blocking prospects thing dumb? Obviously. Do we need veteran leaders on the roster? Obviously. Can we get them? Good question.

Ya I think it's probable that Risto is thick as a post. Give the big Viking simple straight forward structure and he can still be effective. We constantly create new holes with the moves we make to fill holes. It does become a rearranging deck chairs kind of scenario. The one decent move Adams made was Savoie for McLeod. Now maybe down the road Savoie is a good NHLer but he got immediate help now and that was good. Imagine where this team would be at center if we were going with Savoie now instead? We need to make some big moves using the prospects and draft capital to make this roster better now. Get Power a veteran defensive partner at whatever cost it takes. There's more needed but that's the first biggie. If this team just tinkers around the edges again and waits for prospects we will just be prolonging the misery and Dahlin will in fact want out (among others).

2025 NHL Entry Draft Thread, Sabres Draft 9th
PerreaultForever replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
"Main issue" are words you added to distort the point for your own argument. I never said that. What I said was the Sabres do not develop players well. This is a long standing issue and it's part of their problems. The "main issue" as I have said repeatedly all over this forum is bad management/ownership. -

We had those up down moments too didn't we? Eichel scores to go ahead (worst possible outcome) but then they tie it. Olofsson scoring in the shootout. So close to being awful but they win. Can't ask for better than that. -
Ya Berglund's a good one. Quit the NHL rather than play in Buffalo, that was something else. Overall I don't hate any of them. My hate is reserved for Pegula and the lackies he hires like Adams. Never liked Skinner. Don't hate him though. Glad he's gone. Really don't like Evander Kane. I guess Hate fits there. Most disappointing are obviously Matt Moulson and Ville Leino if we are going back that far. I was thinking the other day though that I could actually assemble a better roster with ex-Sabres still playing than the current roster but all that's on management. That's who I hate.

That was entertaining. Pity we haven't seen more of that earlier in the year. I'm not buying any of that late season we are a team now stuff. Krebs jumped in on the guy but everybody else stood around looking stunned and that was that. It's better than nothing but it's nothing special. I'd still like to see us initiate some of that more than just reacting to it. But this game was fun to watch. I can't say that about most of the season. -
2025 NHL Entry Draft Thread, Sabres Draft 9th

? What is the point of this? Tuch and McLeod were already good before they got here. They've just been given more prominent roles on weaker rosters. The rest? Yay, not every pick busts woo-hoo. Again, if you believe we develop players well good for you. We disagree. -

An entire new assistant coaching staff would be a start. Jay McKee in charge of the D perhaps? Somebody like that. Not these clowns that Ruff inherited. -

PerreaultForever replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
Yes, he should have spent time in Rochester I agree. I look at how Detroit has Kasper between DeBrincat and Kane. We should have had something similar with Cozens. Maybe we wouldn't have found as talented pieces but veterans like that for sure. Adding a guy like Zucker helped, but it's too little too late. Power is definitely behind where he should be and he needs a one on one coach and a veteran partner. -

Don't be an a-hole. Those guys were top of the list picks. You could also easily argue they developed slower than they should have because of Buffalo and they both peeked after leaving. Reinhart never topped 25 goals in Buffalo. He's been over 30 every year in Florida and had 57 last year. If you think Sabres have a good development program and plan good for you. Keep believing that. I disagree. -
2025 NHL Entry Draft Thread, Sabres Draft 9th
PerreaultForever replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
I get that. There's no question there are drafting errors. The question however, would be would these players be as good had they been drafted here? Would Power etc. be better if drafted elsewhere? I stand firm on my contention that we as an organization do not develop our picks well. McAvoy had struggles when he entered the league. Bruins paired him with Chara. A veteran mentor. Sabres just throw them out there and expect them to learn on their own. Cozens should have been stuck between 2 veterans but we put him on an all kid line. We have a ridiculous organization. -

Does it matter who we draft? He'll just leave and be good somewhere else anyway. -
Dahlin Met With GMKA, Turn it Around or He’s Gone
PerreaultForever replied to elijah's topic in The Aud Club
I wanted Dudley like 10 years ago or something. I think he might be a little old for it now but I certainly wouldn't mind him being named as some sort of senior advisor or executive that had the power to hire a new GM etc. -
The Sabres need to move on from Mattias Samuelsson
PerreaultForever replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
Move on from him absolutely, but get rid of him before we add a competent D core? That's impossible. We tossed Gilbert and Jokiharju away so Bryson is now top 6. We need to add D before we subtract any more no matter how much they suck. -
Yes, and everything about the team has been about fast and offensively oriented because that is what Pegula likes and wants. He said as much many years ago. I don't remember the exact quote but he said he likes offensive hockey and there was a belief that the league was moving towards more wide open offense and the Sabres were going to be ahead of others in this direction. That was like 10 years ago or something. As we have seen, the league is faster than ever before, but good defense and physicality is still very much a thing. Pegula however has not changed his view it seems. Because we asked too much of him and wanted him to be all things and he just isn't that guy. Poor development and a failure to recognize what a player is (or isn't). Now, as a defensive defender in a structured system he's pretty decent. You don't go backwards but as he is right now, what he is, he'd actually be the defensive partner we all want for Power. I'm not saying trade for Risto, just pointing out that we do not develop players well and that is a big part of our problem.

Predates him so I think because Pegula. Fast puck moving D was the Housley mantra.

What is the Strength of this Organization?
PerreaultForever replied to Flashsabre's topic in The Aud Club
The strength of the organization? The fans. It's a miracle there is still a fanbase at all and as we've seen in snippets they will rally around the team quickly if there are even any signs of life. This franchise is dying, but without this fanbase it would already be dead. -
GDT: Buffalo Sabres @ Detroit Red Wings 3/12/25 7:30 pm TNT
PerreaultForever replied to bob_sauve28's topic in The Aud Club
The D is so damn lazy. Just pathetic. I was thinking tonight if Torts was the coach he'd bench all 6 of them. Powerless and Donkey (a new and more appropriate name for Muel) being the worst. I literally laughed out loud when all the rough stuff was happening and the only Sabre standing there doing nothing was Donkey. The D is pathetic. Thanks Kevyn. Thanks Terry. Now I just watch the rest of the season to wait for when Lindy's head actually explodes. -
and that's the key right? Pair a puck mover with a physical guy. Don't know why the Sabres can't figure this out.

Here's the conundrum. Beating Detroit helps the Bruins (and Rangers) and hurts our draft pick so......go Sabres?
