  1. I read that on twitter. It included minor moves, signing people and coaches etc. I suppose you could say hiring Jarmo was doing something if you want to get technical.
  2. If they offer the 3rd for Peterka you take it and then you flip that 3rd for Dobson or somebody we need. Flip the 3rd and the 9th if needed. Can't see nobody wanting that 3rd pick which could be a Frondell or Misa. Or keep the pick and flip Norris. other options. We have so many young assets this can't be that hard. There are only 2 teams at this point who have done absolutely nothing and that's us and the Leafs. It's ridiculous.
  3. Doubt it. Zegras had issues. Declining production, injuries, doesn't play defense. I think a lot of teams weren't interested. Philly willing to gamble since they have the assets to trade without affecting anything else. Michkov-Zegras-Konecny as a line could be sick, but probably have a lot of goals scored against them too. Might be entertaining though. Maybe they'll Michigan pass for a double Michigan.
  4. Ya, Jarmo should know everything there is to know on this idea. Provorov has his issues but adding him to the mix shouldn't make us worse.
  5. Of course Foligno's best days are behind him, but he'd still instantly be the toughest guy on the team and he'd bring in his leadership and work ethic. I'd rather have him in practice yelling at Quinn to pick it up rather than having him on Minnesota shoving Quinn to the ice with one hand and a nasty look. We desperately need some hard tough leaders to help whip these country club kids into shape.
  6. I like it but it'll never happen. I'd like to see the lottery go though. You want to tank go ahead and tank. I don't want that top pick to go to some lottery ball winner be it fixed or not. Just let the worst be the worst.
  7. I'm going to guess Briere saw it this way. We need a skilled center. I can get this guy cheap. Maybe Tocchet can get him to play to his potential. If not, he's a placeholder for whoever they draft 6th overall this year and is likely the guy in 2 years. idk if him being Drysdale's best friend matters and it might even be bad but who knows, Zegras still makes me think of this and likely always will:
  8. Trade only works if you are adding others of value. If it's a deadline deal it'll always be for picks and prospects or occasionally cap dumps.
  9. Hard to say. I think he's an upgrade on Quinn. In the long haul I'm not sure if he's better than Kulich might be. He's like a lot of what we have in many ways. This I would not do. I think Peterka is better.
  10. They might. Foligno's getting pretty old. Rossi doesn't fit there so if they value Byram it's not a huge ask.
  11. Look at it this way, if you do not sign Tuch you are clearly not making any progress you are going backwards and then you will lose Dahlin and more when they want out. You want to shift things you commit to veterans and leaders and you spend to that cap.
  12. Roughly correct. I don't like Zegras and I do wonder why Anaheim (who many people think are going to push for the playoffs now) decided he wasn't a fit for that so clearly they think he's a lost cause, but that's a low risk price for Philly. If Zegras can get it together now that's a heck of a deal for Philly.
  13. How the Zegras trade ends up will be interesting to see. I've talked before about comparing Philly's rebuild with Buffalo's. We were skilled young players first and then build the culture and add leadership. They were build the culture first and then add the talent. It will be interesting to see if that culture (if it is rebuilt) can contain Zegras and make him into the player he's always had the skill to be but never shown the desire or work ethic to actually become. It was certainly a low price paid.
  14. Given the Zegras trade that's more than enough but I'd still be fine with it. Rossi and Foligno for Byram I would do.
  15. Okay I put the line in brackets to avoid this but you didn't read it I guess. I was not saying Peterka would be Bennett. That would be dumb. What I'm saying is Sam Bennett was not Sam Bennett when he was drafted and he became something else. The final version of what JJ Peterka will be is still unknown, that's the point.
  16. Quinn for Rossi. Great. Undo the draft. Peterka for Rossi. Bad. Peterka is better. Kulich for Rossi. No. I think Kulich has too much possible upside. Prospects or picks for Rossi, Perfect. Byram for Rossi. Just shoot me now.
  17. You can't say that. Look at Sam Bennett. He did not come into the league as a brawny thug and now he's the dirtiest nastiest player in the league. Peterka is still really young. We forget that in Buffalo because Adams keeps building the all youth brigade. A lot of players change as they mature and develop. Peterka is not a finished project . (I'm not saying he turns into Sam Bennett if you read this wrong, just that Jason Zucker isn't rugged and definitely wasn't rugged when he started out)
  18. Should have definitely found a veteran partner/mentor for Power when they drafted him. Plus hired a Jay McKee type coach to work day and night with the D.
  19. So what he's saying is Darche fired after one season? No way Islanders are that stupid unless Hagens is still there at 9. Then maybe. The SJ deal I could see happening.
  20. I think you're missing some perspective on this. Zucker isn't really more rugged, he just comes from playing on different teams and he's only "rugged" relative to the softness of how the Sabres play. JJP has shown moments that tells me he'd be more rugged in a different system and coached differently. Consider E-Rod in Florida for example (I'm not comparing E-Rod to JJP skill wise, just how they played here how they play there). Zucker has also played for different teams and as a veteran he has been taught more defense so it's natural to him. Sabres haven't taught it to Peterka so what do you expect? Every young kid in the league wants to play offense and score goals. Defense is hard and boring. By the time Peterka is Zucker's age he will be a far better player and he will be just as rugged and defensive. Unless he stays a Sabre, then who knows.
  21. Oh there's no reason to worry because you can rest assured Sabres will do far less than you expect (or want). That's pretty much an annual thing. The only major shake ups come with new GMs who get to tear down and start over. Every year we see rumors of trades involving Sabres and I think it's safe to say every year every team comes in like vultures and they kick the tires to see if anybody is available or if they can get a player for picks and prospects and why wouldn't they? 99% of those calls though are going to go absolutely nowhere. Byram will likely get moved as they won't want to meet his price for what he is. idk if they will get a good player back or not. Talk lately of Philly being interested. I'm not personally interested in anybody on their roster aside from Michkov, Sanheim and maybe Konecny none of whom are available. If it's somebody like York plus no thank you. Peterka disgruntled? who knows. Likely moved. We likely lose that deal. I have zero faith in Adams being able to do anything substantial with this roster. There's an old adage in the NHL. Tearing down and selling is easy. Building back up is hard. Adams has proved that is true one more time.
  22. I meant extending Marchment beyond this season coming up. He's only got 1 year left I think.
  23. Burakovsky to the Blackhawks might change the narrative of them drafting Martone to be Bedard's winger. JBot dumping money to pay Marchment I guess.
  24. Just as an aside it doesn't really matter to Pegula if they lose a little money each year as the value of NHL franchises keeps rising and they also have expansion fees on the horizon. He's making a killing if he ever does sell it.
