Saw them play the Bruins last night and they looked really flat. All they do is dump and chase and they don't chase for it very quickly. So not a huge surprise. I suspect Chicago will pack in the season and dump a lot of the vets they added at the deadline like Hall and Maroon etc.

So you're saying he's going to want a disc surgery that the Sabres won't sign off on then right?

Stats are stats and they all provide information and they all have flaws in terms of providing a complete picture. When it comes to Quinn anyone can see he is performing poorly and has an overall negative impact on the team. If you can't see that you don't get hockey at all. Now you can argue whether Cozens makes Quinn worse or Quinn makes Cozens worse and so forth but those are nuances. Neither one of them is playing well and Cozens is most definitely not playing up to his contract which is perhaps the most significant statistic. The expected standard has to be measured against their cost in order to have a successful team. Benson, on the other hand, is obviously playing exceptionally well for his age and time here. You don't need any stats to see that either. In terms of economic value, Sabres worst performers are Cozens and Power. Best value is Benson.

I don't think Karmanos will ever be named GM here. I know a lot of people here want that and he is held in high esteem, and he might be a smart guy, but I don't think he's a TP yes man and so I do not think he ever gets that role. If Adams is fired Forton will get it. Perhaps as an interim initially.

GDT: Winnipeg Jets @ Buffalo Sabres 12/5/24 --7 pm MSG

I have no idea how this one goes. We either get a slumping Jets team that thinks it's an easy game and continues their slump or we get a Jets team that decided this is the moment to end the slide and they hit us literally and figuratively full force. Could be either one. History would suggest we often end team's losing streaks. -
and he was a local boy with team history. Not only would I have kept Marcus, I'd have signed his brother as a free agent to play with him and lead this locker room. (and no, he wouldn't put up big scoring numbers and he'd probably be over paid in terms of production, but it wouldn't matter, it would be worth it). Heck, put their dad back on the payroll as well as a scout or some type of advisor. They all have and know what it takes. It was a big mistake and I hated it when it happened. Scandella wasn't a good enough player to justify it in any way shape or form. If Marcus was still here I'd have named him captain without question.

I'm not exactly sure of what you're trying to say here or if you are being sarcastic or what, but the fans here absolutely have every right to boo and I do not know why anybody would buy a ticket right now. Even on tv this is the time of year I usually start watching all the games on replay because they are generally not worth sitting through in real time.

All kidding aside Risto's playing really well for Philly this year. idk the whole story but it would appear Torts might have fixed him and he's not just "big guy who hits things" as @LGR4GM liked to say all the time. The games I've seen he doesn't run around like he used to and he picks his rush moments better (and he still hits things :)) He's much better than Jokiharju.

Don't forget Risto on Team Finland 🙂

Hammy: Worst home loss in team history
PerreaultForever replied to PASabreFan's topic in The Aud Club
I think that game where Columbus scored 9 goals was maybe the worst. What stood out in this one was the complete inability to do anything in the last 2 periods though. Avs just did whatever they wanted and chipped away until they had the lead and then held it. This is why the "panicked" rhetoric is bs. They didn't just try too hard and make bad errors, they were just feckless. -
12-4-2024: Practice and media availability canceled
PerreaultForever replied to That Aud Smell's topic in The Aud Club
Yes exactly. Kulich is playing like a rookie and makes some good plays but also makes some mistakes. As you'd expect for his age and experience. Quinn, is also playing like a young rookie and that's no acceptable for a player of his age and experience. -

Except Kulich has been better than Quinn and you can't send him down without waivers. -
Wouldn't this actually work in reverse for the Sabres? The more you see of it........................ To your whole point I think it's the losing that has driven away the younger fans or potential fans. Hard to get behind a perpetual loser. You need something to get excited about to draw you in. As you likely know I was a Bruins fan first. I was drawn into that watching Orr flying through the air and winning a cup. They seemed awesome. (and they had uniforms like my home town Tiger Cats, I was young). When I saw the young French Connection knock off the hated Habs I got hooked on the Sabres. Yes, there was local tv to see them more but it was that exciting energetic dynamic that won games that mattered most. You can't draw in many new fans to a loser team.

I don't hate him, I just think he's a lousy analyst.
-
I doubt it. I honestly think there is zero pride in the jersey. It doesn't mean anything any more. Maybe to Tuch since he's a local boy but not to the rest. So many years of garbage have eroded any sense of pride in the jersey at all and they all know that they can move on to other places and have success as they've seen with others. Fans booing them just gives them an excuse to want out.
-
Well I do think the fans have crossed over the breaking point. They were booing with about 30 seconds to go and the team was only down a goal with the net empty. I have never seen that in my entire life. After it's over sure, but never when a team is down by 1 late. It's understandable, but I think it's a new low.
-
Rob Ray's a bigger problem imo. The play by play guy calls the play. It's the "color commentary" guy's job to give you the actual insights and analysis. Ray just makes excuses and pokes fun at Marty for some unknown irrelevant reason.
-
Oh okay gotcha now, beat the champ. Well you'd have to do that in the playoffs though so that still remains to be seen. All 3 of those guys are going to be good players, it's just that Bedard was heralded as the best of the them and right now I'd place him third.

I think that's true. I wonder if some of them are afraid of being shut out or denied access by Pegula? I don't know if that's true or not, but they do throw marshmallows more often than not. The broadcast team is also a sadly apologetic and excuse riddled crew. Only Biron is occasionally tougher on them, but that's because he has another job as well. So, no practice no availability? Spa day? If something happens, fair enough. If nothing happens, just more Sabres country club bs. Mind you if that something is firing Lindy and naming Appert interim head coach I'm going to start looking for a new team to go along with the Bruins. -
I'm not sure what that means but Cellebrini looks like he might be better than Bedard. Personally I think Michkov might be better than either of them.

We all have to accept the fact that Pat LaFontaine saw where this would go right from the start and he was right. After that, the team missed a moment where they could have hired Rick Dudley as a president/director of hockey operations/whatever you want to call it above the GM but that guy is never here and that guy is always Terry Pegula and that sums up all that. We all know it, and we are all helpless to do anything about it. If you keep paying him money to go to these games you are an idiot. You'd be better off buying a banana and some duct tape.
