  1. 30 minutes plus of ice time for Dahlin-Lybushkin?
  2. I agree. Totally. I wanted 2 (not 1) D man in free agency. I wanted to draft one in the late first or second this past draft. After not doing either, I suggested claiming Reilly off waivers as a stop gap measure. I think our defensive prospect pool doesn't measure up to our forwards. I'd have no problem trading a top forward prospect for a top defensive prospect. Having said that, the Chychrun deal that's out there is too expensive imo. So I'm not sure if there are any other good options at the moment.
  3. I do think Dahlin has arrived finally and will be good but I am curious to see how well he does without Samuelsson beside him.
  4. I was talking to some Philly fans and they were saying a lot of them are afraid the losing will start again when Risto comes back. I kid not.
  5. That leg twisted pretty bad so if it's only a sprain and not a tear that is good news. Probably wear a brace when he comes back but shouldn't be extremely long.
  6. Well this very situation is why I suggested taking Reilly and his contract when Boston waived him but that boat sailed. I don't think you really can replace Samuelsson without a big trade and making a big trade isn't a good idea on a team that seems to be building chemistry unless you give up virtually nothing from the roster. Definitely do not give up 2 firsts plus for Chychrun (as that's apparently his price tag). Lauzon has been scratched in Nashville. I'd take him for a cheap temp fix but with the Borowicki injury he might be in their plans again. For now you see how things go with Pilut and how long the injuries are going to be. If they are long term I'd certainly look to adding a responsible stay at home type guy if we could find one as the rest of the Rochester group is a little iffy.
  7. maybe this is old, but it was the first time I read it and it made me laugh. The Chicago fan mantra is "suck hard for Bedard".
  8. Well this is starting to be fun isn't it? I try not to get TOO excited. I still remember the pain of the 10 game win streak but I'm liking what I'm seeing. Everything just feels different this time. Feels like a team. Finally. I thought this was Power's best game so far. He definitely stepped up and looks like he's starting to be more comfortable with things. Maybe the pairing with Lybushkin had a little to do with it. Dahlin has arrived in full now I think. This is the guy we hoped we'd see when we took him #1. Bit of a rough game for Peterka imo but this will happen with rookies. I'm not worried. Mitts seems to be getting better each game and is also looking like a different player from last year. As is Cozens. Asplund solid. Obviously the Samuelsson injury is troubling. Quinn didn't impress me and I still think he's not ready. If they don't want to send him down for a bit maybe just keep alternating Krebs and him on the 4th line until one of them starts to seize the job full time. All in all though, this is so much better than I expected this year. Hope it lasts.
  9. I agree, but I fail to see why some people have such an issue with sending him down. maybe it's because this team hasn't had a deep enough roster to have extra bodies worth anything for so long people have forgotten how the NHL works for real teams. It's not like if you send him down he's gone until April. he can go up and down all year and play lots and lots of games and get lots and lots of coaching. I really fail to see why this is an issue.
  10. Absolutely. So he plays a couple games, sits a couple, plays another (or two) maybe he goes down maybe he stays up it depends on his play. If he does go down and he dominates when down he's the first call up when you need his skill set or want to replace an underachiever and on it goes as you continually coach and teach. This is not difficult.
  11. What part of "at this time" is unclear to you?
  12. Pilut is a better puck carrier but yes, I consider Fitz a better defender than Pilut.
  13. Sitting Krebs is a reasonable decision. I thought he was better in the Calgary game but Quinn in and Krebs out is fine with me. In either case they're at the bottom with the 2 vets. I consider both of them as in between not quite there yet guys. If we had a couple more solid veteran types I'd have both of them in Rochester on a up and down development plan.
  14. I'm talking about the ALMOST ready players. Pilut and Murray might fall into that although I think Murray's ceiling might have been reached and he's really not NHL caliber. The kind of player where you had a hard time deciding if he should stay up or go down at the beginning of the season and he ends up down due to his age or eligibility so you don't have to waive somebody (or for cap reasons). Quinn and Krebs are really that guy but they are already up. If we had a couple veterans up instead and Krebs and Quinn were call up guys, THEN I'd say we had depth. We're getting there.
  15. I was going to go, but the timing didn't work out. tv like the rest of you, just not late.
  16. Maybe he's better after the KHL but I'm going by what I remember and I'd rather have Fitz in there. We have enough flash already. We need more solid defending.
  17. I understand all that but it's still hard to justify inserting people into the line up if they don't earn it. As a coach you don't want to appear to be favoring one player over another while preaching a work ethic and rewarding good play with ice time. Good hockey culture doesn't work well that way. The whole point of being affiliated with Rochester was the ease of sending players up and down and if the team is now good enough that their are extra players there is nothing wrong with sending them up and down. AHL ice time is better than no ice time. I personally would have Quinn getting all the ice time he could and practicing both places. more coaching, more play. His time will come if he earns it.
  18. This should be the toughest game they've faced so far this year. Not the best team they've faced but Vancouver should come out with maximum intensity after the losing road trip. I think, in order to win, Anderson will have to play at least as well as he did in the first game.
  19. But you can't just play a guy and treat your nhl team as a training ground. Coach wants to play his best roster available to win does he not? At the moment, that's not Quinn. Vinnie has been better - at this time.
  20. I'd like to think you're right about Kulich, but I don't think you are. Rousek and Weissbach are definitely less than Quinn and imo Quinn isn't ready. Maybe in a limited capacity, but not really. Murray, well, he had moments last year but he's not as good as anybody on the current roster. I guess I'd accept that assessment of bottom 3. It's a drop off in all cases though, which was kind of my point. Depth to me is guys who can be inserted as equal to what's already there. Or very close. Pilut will apparently sub for Jokiharju and that too is a drop off imo. I'm not sure how many injuries this roster can handle before it totally drops off. Not that many more. Definitely not more to the D.
  21. I don't mess with a winning line up but isn't it refreshing to be debating sitting a decent player and having an extra player(s) rather than a totally crap line up with few options?
  22. How much of that roster is NHL ready ?
  23. This is it. There's virtually no depth to this roster. Any number of injuries to any one position will undo whatever they have going.
  24. That's the beauty of sports though. You can never totally reduce it to physics and math. The heart and desire. The passion. There are emotional components that just don't reduce to formulas and equations. It will be interesting to see if the Bruins culture remains strong when Bergeron retires for real. His leadership is a huge part of it and idk if you can easily replace that sort of thing.
