"becomes"?
-
I would wonder if Power will crack under pressure being a young player with too much put on him too quickly. I think back to McAvoy with Boston and he got benched first year and then slowly brought back in and then paired with Chara to learn and nothing happened instantly. Power doesn't have that veteran rock to pair with and we aren't deep enough to sit him so there's a lot on the kid's shoulders early. We've ruined them before, I hope we do better this time.

I don't believe Sheahan is similar at all. We can disagree on that, but it doesn't invalidate an argument if I have a different evaluation of a player's worth than you do, it just means we disagree. There are no absolute rights and wrongs in these things but you never want to acknowledge that so whatever.
-
No it isn't. That's the opposite extreme. There is a middle path.
-
and that's the youngest team WITH Anderson on it.
-
I do understand the argument, and I'm not opposed to building with the draft at all, but I just think we are relying on a few too many unproven kids at once. We have to learn how to win games as well. I think they have gone too far in one direction. The salary thing is a non issue. 2 years fits perfectly into a structure/plan that will perhaps need more money at that point. There's tons of money left on this team's cap.
-
and yet Seattle had no interest in bringing him back. I understand the era of Jags is over argument, but I just think that if that guy is better than the guy you have, you get better by adding him and that's it. This is a minor argument over players relative value, and none of them is game changing or overly important, but I think those guys are better than what we have.

That's what I noticed in the preseason game. Cozens looks ready to take a step forward but many times he was left on his own and had nobody to pass to, no play to make, so he just tries to go towards goal on his own and 1 against 2 or 3 got nowhere. It's going to hurt him to not have solid and NHL ready line mates.
-
Cap hit doesn't matter. They have tons of room. We grab injured goalies just to get to the floor. He's better than Bryson, that's all. We'd be better with him on the bottom pairing but we don't want to be a winning NHL team. We want to be a training ground AHL type team to become a future winning team so whatever.
-
Oh it's not important, but I remember watching him play 4th line minutes with the Bruins and he was under valued. Has speed and a bit of grit. It's not a point worth arguing but I do think he's better than Sheahan and definitely better than Bjork.

Bruins waived Mike Reilly. He's better than Bryson but whatever. A lot of IFs and maybes on this thing.

idk, I think it's kind of the same as last year. maybe more competitive games, closer games, maybe some moments when everything clicks and they look great but also tons of mistakes, blown games, lapses and bad goals let in at bad times. My biggest fear is still that they are being too slow and patient with the rebuild, with too much faith in prospects, and thus they will miss a moment in time and end up in yet another cycle of losing hockey and lost desire. I still believe getting a real goalie should have been step one and the build should have moved out from there. There's a lot of comparisons being made to the Bills, but the Bills did it right. You get the QB and then you make the other moves. For football it's the QB. For hockey it's the goalie. You don't succeed without great goaltending and great goaltending can overcome a lot of other deficiencies as everyone who lived through the Hasek era knows.

Colorado waived Anton Blidh. If I was Adams I'd pick him up. Better than Bjork or Sheahan as a 4th line fit imo.

Agreed, which is also why I think it's kind of an over used and somewhat meaningless term. Oh the team's best players are on the ice and they control the play more than the other team, what a shock. Sydney Crosby tends to drive the play. So does Connor McDavid. So surprising. To me what matters is talent combined with chemistry for a line to be successful, and thus drive the play. When the 3 parts combine together to make the unit play a complete game they will inevitably "drive the play".
-
It's kind of interesting (and a little odd) that "drive" has become such a common descriptive word in hockey discussions. Driving the net, and driving the play, are two very different things and imo using "drive" for both of them can confuse the discussion. Tuch drives the net, not the play. Mitts imo is soft and lacks intensity/desire. Perhaps effort level and heart as well but that's harder to judge. To this point, he simply does not seem to have what it takes.

Colin Miller? wtf. https://www.hockeyfights.com/fights/n265556

Well I don't personally think the approach they've taken with Cozens was the best plan. I think he'd have been better with AHL time earlier on but it's a moot point now. There is no question in my mind that this team rushes players due to it's usually incredibly thin line up. Peterka just doesn't look ready.
-
They definitely don't get it, and to a large extent they want it to remain buried and covered up. On TSN today they were talking about a freedom of information request that was made quite some time ago that has been in the courts with Hockey Canada fighting hard to keep the information private. I don't have detailed facts on that and it sounded a bit weird but there is more going on here than we have been told or heard about, that is obvious.

Well............................................. Finally got to see a whole preseason game and kind of wish I didn't. This was pure trash. Yes, the excuse merchants will say they had their stars and we had scrubs well boo hoo, I'm tired of excuse hockey. This was embarrassing top to bottom. Bjork is a scrub. Waive him asap. After Vinnie tossed that puck behind his net thinking idk what I had him on the scrub list but then he scored a nice short handed goal so I guess he's a wash on that. Comrie. So the stats people keep telling me I'm supposed to be excited by this AHL level goalie. Well he was absolute rubbish. Yes, the D hung him out to dry on several plays but he only made 1 maybe 2 hard saves on the night and didn't rob a single Pen. Tokarski was better and that isn't saying much. Mitts was nothing. Krebs was nothing. Quinn. I was supposed to be excited about Quinn. Why? The early pass from Tuch drive to the net was decent but the rest of the game he did little to impress me. Peterka. I was told he's got snarl to his game. Didn't bring it that's for sure. Struggled all night. He is NOT NHL ready. Bryson is a piece of crap. If he's in the bottom pairing forget it. Lybushkin. Well he showed me next to nothing. Not impressed at all. No comment on the D scrubs. Not worth the time. not a single D man out there was impressive in any way. Cozens was the best Sabre (not saying much) but most of the time he was playing alone and got next to no support from his linemates. The good news, I guess when we draft Bedard we will have too many good young forwards and can trade one for a goalie. Damn that was horrible. (yes, I know, just preseason means nothing, but it was my first chance to see it for myself and it really really really disappointed)
