Let's Make a Deal (Suggestions for K.A. for 2023)
PerreaultForever replied to PerreaultForever's topic in The Aud Club
I'm not disagreeing that Saros would be a great addition, but until he becomes available you might as well say "maybe Edmonton will trade us McDavid to free up cap space". It's pointless. Hart on the other hand is reportedly possible. It would solve our biggest problem for the immediate future. If Levi can supplant him in 3 years even better, but if he can't, at least we would have a decent goalie. -
Been there done that. Messes with your hearing and your balance (among other things).

Huh?

Demko idk. Streaky and inconsistent. Not sure I'd trust in him. but if you don't trade for Hart do you trade for another goalie and if so what's that trade look like? Do you really want to go Comrie and UPL in 23/24? I don't. -

I'm not worried about this being "my thread". I welcome people to suggest more possible trades or options to win next season. Not silly one sided deals that'll never happen but real hockey trades. I'd have no problem with trading for Saros. It would be good. As I understand it however Nashville has said everybody is available EXCEPT Saros, Forsberg and Josi. Philly, on the other hand, seems to be willing to discuss trading Hart. So that's something that's actually possible. My guess is Briere wants to fix the cap situation and Hart is going to want a lot more money soon so trading him now might make sense to them for a long term plan IF they believe in Ersson, which appears to be a possibility. Hart is better than you think he is. Philly D is the problem. Keep that in mind. -

How would what I am suggesting "derail us"? It's not a "short cut" if you see weak spots on your team and you fix them. Maybe Levi's the future. maybe he's too small for the NHL to be great. Who knows. You want to wait 3-4 more years moaning about how if we only had better goaltending we'd be in the playoffs or do you want to fix it now and be in the playoffs? We have a core of young players on the roster. What's wrong with moving some futures for a here and now or two? Do you really want to keep waiting for "next year"? -

What I'm saying is I'd be willing to go that high. Willing to overpay to make it happen. I'm seeing an opportunity to elevate this team substantially and immediately rather than waiting several years and complaining about how close we were and what we needed while waiting for Levi. -

Saros isn't on the trade block, Hart is. -

This is the thing for me. I'm not going to go in to this (as a GM) expecting to "win" the deal necessarily but to make my team much better and leap forward into the playoffs. You need to seize moments when they present themselves and good goalies on the block don't come around every day. The Philly black hole thing is true. Bobrovsky was a star when he left. Hart is much better than his stats. He's young. He fits. He's exactly what we need. Most of all, it's POSSIBLE. -

Suggest an alternative maybe instead of just being negative. I created this thread for people to put up concrete ideas of how we could become a winner sooner than later. Suggest some deal(s) of your own for making that happen. But Hart is on the market, Saros is not. -
Surgery. Out for the season.

Let's Make a Deal (Suggestions for K.A. for 2023)

Something similar to the Chychrun deal. Rosen, a first, give them back their 2nd. Two firsts and a second. Something like that. Nothing from the roster so we'd simply get better. I could probably be talked into even more. I've seen Hart play a few times and he can be really good. He's right at that point where he's coming into his prime too. -

I was calling for the tear down long before it happened. I got scoffed at many times for dumping on Eichel Reinhart and (to a lesser extent) Risto. So yes, I was glad it finally happened and it was the right thing to do. Personally I don't think Jbot was allowed to make moves like that. I think ownership changed their mind when Eichel started bitching. They just had enough of him and gave KA the green light to tear down and start over. So ya, the tank/Eichel draft F'd this team for a decade. We finally look like a hockey team again. KA is at the helm for that so he gets credit, but ultimately I think it's Pegula that changed his mind.

Have you seen any Flyers games? Many nights he's making spectacular saves and is the only guy holding them in there. He's playing behind a horrible defense anchored by Risto. -
We are close. Very close. I don't want to keep waiting for the next one though. Not Levi. Not Rosen. Not Kulich or any of the other prospects. I want to win now and I think the opportunities are there if KA has the stones to make it happen. What trades would you make to turn us into a contender in 2023/24? My first suggestion is: Carter Hart. Whatever it takes in terms of prospects and picks.
-
No. To this point in time those trades have only brought us Tuch and Krebs. The rest remains to be seen. We got Power cause we sucked. Thompson, Cozens, Skinner, Dahlin, Jokiharju, Samuelsson, (maybe) Mitts. All JBot.
-
Sarcasm aside, maybe they didn't expect the level of development they got (this quickly) and so they expected to have a mediocre at best season and had no expectations for playoffs so they didn't spend draft capital or prospects in getting a goalie now (or additional D) with their sights on 2023-24 (hopefully, and not 24-25). maybe with the development they saw happen they will realize the time is now (23-24) and they will work on fixing this for next year. They have to realize this, don't they???

PerreaultForever replied to spndnchz's topic in The Aud Club
That's probably true, and holds for most D men. You notice the mistakes more than the good plays. Power and Jokiharju were much better than Dahlin and Bryson. Power's passing and puck movement were very good tonight. Perhaps, with this roster and when Samuelsson is out, they should play Dahlin back on the left side with Jokiharju, Power with Lybushkin and Stillman with Clague, the 3rd pairing getting much less ice time. Yes, I hate Bryson. -
There's a bit of an out of the box option in goal that might not be impossible and that's Carter Hart. He's an RFA in 2024 and will be due some big money but there's some talk out of Philly that the Flyers might be willing to deal him for their rebuild as they have big cap issues with all the bad Fletcher signings and might not be able to pay him anyway. They also have Ersson in net who they are high on so maybe they would trade Hart. Picks and prospects for Hart? I'd do it.
-
idk, he doesn't look like a fit to me. He has to be a LOT more physical to have any real value (given that he clearly lacks speed).

Would you like to revise this after watching the Leafs game?

How many games does he have to play with Bryson? -

It's simply satisfying any time we beat the Leafs. Toronto didn't impress me. No way they get past Boston playing like that. ROR absence makes a big difference to what they can and can't do. We were better in a lot of areas. Tuch obviously makes a huge difference to the top line. I don't get why Granato plays Bryson at all though. That pairing was horrible. Matthews goal reminded me of Sabres at their worst from 2 years ago. Bryson ineffective, Dahlin out of position watching the play and Krebs doing his best impersonation of Eichel on the (non) back check. Just garbage hockey. How do you not pick up the late trailer like that? Bad bad hockey. Greenway is either really slow or lazy (or both) as I saw him coast on several plays and he is bringing no physical presence at all. Looks like another big body who plays small and thus a dud. maybe he will improve, but Minnesota obviously gave up on him and he's definitely not showing me the effort Jost brought when we picked him up. Bad trade unless he gets better. What if Anderson was 10 years younger someone asked? Why he'd have signed for more money somewhere else 🙂 Happy game though. Hate the Leafs. -

maybe not as bad as last time. No ROR.
