Erik Portillo traded to the Kings for a 2023 3rd Round Pick
PerreaultForever replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Probably, unless the Kings just think they can entice him to all that. He could still pull a Vesey on them. -
We finally made a move................and it's actually a good one. This guy is a good player with plenty of grit and truculence. Thompson knows him, Granato knows him, he will fit in perfectly either playing beside Krebs on a checking line or toughening up one of the scoring lines. Worst case he fills out and upgrades one of the 4th line spots if we move on from Kyle and Girgs next year. Exactly (one of) the thing(s) we needed.

If Tage keeps producing like this year he will be a steal no question. It'll be like the McKinnon deal was before he got his latest one. Tage still needs to learn to go through people as well as around them though to be truly great. That inability was in evidence tonight. Ottawa wins again spoiling Kane's debut. Told ya, of all the teams on the outside, they are the one best built for this time of year, and yes, they now also added Chychrun on top of that.

So then Buffalo doesn't get the 8th seed? -

I don't believe this narrative for a second. You look at a tandem like Swayman and Ullmark. It takes 2 not 1 in this NHL. There's no reason to think he wouldn't have been fine in a Levi Portello duo. I think he just didn't want to be in Buffalo and would rather be somewhere else. We will find out soon if that somewhere else included L.A. -
Hopefully not, and maybe somebody might be interested in Kyle if you find a way to make the salary work but the only player I can see playoff teams maybe looking at would be Girgensons. No one else we have has playoff value.

The contracts aren't really staggered either. We're spending next to nothing at the moment, and although we have a good lower pricetag on Thompson, all these prospects around the same age, if they are any good, they'll want to be paid around the same time and there won't be enough money to do that. Any team with a ton of high end talent (and high price) has to have a cheap bottom end. the luxury we have with all the rookie contracts won't last long.

Post trade deadline presser will talk about Stillman and how the moves they made were NOT trading their own pending UFAs. "I like our team and where it's headed" will be said repeatedly. -
Who do you think is running this place, Steve Yzerman?

Ahhh, another Sabres staff member joins the chat 🙂 Seriously my friend, it is possible to do BOTH things.

I thought they played pretty good until it all fell apart at the end. They just couldn't break through the Boston D which is without a doubt the best in the league with the Orlov addition. Boston was simply much stronger on the puck and won most of the one on one battles. They're a playoff team, Sabres are not. Stillman was about what I expected. An unimpressive bottom pairing D man who makes mistakes when pressed. I didn't see the grit he's supposed to bring. Not tonight anyway. You guys must have been happy when Krebs took on Marchand (I told you he can become our version) and even happier when Lybushkin hit him into the boards and took him out of the game. That's your bright spot for the night. Sabres have to play harder than this and more physical to have any shot at a playoff spot. lastly, once again, I ask why is Comrie on the roster? -
Yes. Hall on LTIR and Foligno on IR. Actual injuries too, not salary cap shenanigans. Someone like Bertuzzi became necessary given all the moves from Toronto and Tampa with those 2 out long term. I'm just amazed at how fast Yzerman pivots. Whether he makes the right moves or wrong ones (time will tell) the guy is definitely on the job and working hard.

A lot of Vancouver fans don't get it either as they want a rebuild. organization however insists it's not a rebuild it's a retool. The way they are going I'm glad we didn't bring Rutherford in as some wanted. They do seem a tad confused there.

King's rebuild moving along quite well I'd say. -
Except he'd spend more time on LTIR after some of the hits and cheap shots Gretzky had to try to avoid. You can never compare players from one era to another. Too many things change. McDavid would have been hooked, held, slashed and generally abused far more than he is in today's game. Draisaitl would probably have held up better.

Makes me think Vancouver was in on the Chychrun negotiations and when Ottawa nabbed him they panicked and went for plan B. Yzerman with the quick pivot after the 2 losses to Ottawa.
-
For once we agree. I'm not just unhappy, I'm pissed off with this team again. We could have beat that so easily and still maintained the whole pipeline. Just give them Philly's 2nd with the conditional first and the later second and it's a better deal straight up. This team is so stupid. Earlier thread I said don't count Ottawa out just yet. Didn't realize it might be prophetic.

Rain on your wedding day? Undervalued him by not offering him what he was worth on the open market. Why ask? You already know.

Kevyn Adams addresses Season Ticket Holders 2/27/23
PerreaultForever replied to Zamboni's topic in The Aud Club
Fair enough, but I don't think it was just a simple one thing or another "OR" . The original implication is that you keep all your picks and prospects for the future so you have that 10 years because of that. If you make some deals, like say give up a 1st and 2 2nds (you know what I'm referring to) you might make it this year but miss later. You're right, both are possible, but the likelihood of making it this year is going down by the second imo so I hope the 10 years comes to pass. -
Was the irony of choosing a meme of someone who just recently died intentional?

It's not impossible, but the feeling I have, and I think many people have, is that these holes will sink us and we will miss by just a few points. Thus, when you look back on the year you have to think, if we'd had more D depth when Samuelson etc went down maybe we'd have saved a few points there. If we'd had a better goalie maybe we'd have stolen or saved a few points here or there, and maybe if we had a little more grit maybe we'd win one or two more down the stretch. Just a few points here or there with just a few small changes/additions. Missing by a slim margin is gonna hurt cause it could have been saved. Ultimately I think the team has done better than KA expected. Cozens leapt forward faster than he expected. Some things have gone right and so we are closer/better than he expected and so not making the moves is a mistake. -
It's like Scream 6. Why make another one? But they do cause they can. But seriously, cause it's a pivotal moment and a big failure. These things matter.
