  1. Possible, definitely possible, but Leafs aren't as good in tight as Florida was and that's what really gave the Bruins the most trouble. Leafs don't have that kind of tenacity and Bruins could likely manage the puck better at the pace they are more comfortable with. Bruins might still have lost to Leafs though. Bergeron is apparently playing hurt and so was Krejci. Not just old. Bergeron supposedly has a herniated disc and really wasn't himself.
  2. I'm not livid. Disappointed but I don't get overly emotional about Bruins stuff. They are the B team. If Kraken lose tonight I got nobody to cheer for this year though. I will tell you what though. SABRES better get it together and become a playoff team next year cause I think the Bruins era is over. It's time.
  3. and I'd have them losing to Carolina if it weren't for the key Carolina injuries, hence the pathway for Toronto. I think the defensive depth will kill them. A couple of them are banged up and I'm not sure how long they can keep it going. Hope they do, hate the Leafs, but I just don't see it.
  4. No. That would have helped the Bruins cruise through. We do not forecheck, play physical and dominate in front the way the Panthers did. It's an aggressive style that gave the Bruins problems all year, not just in this series, and it's absolutely NOT how we play.
  5. Not deep though. I think they shot their bolt in this series and will burn out. They will give Toronto some problems in front of the net here and there but overall I doubt they can sustain this level. Sadly, Toronto has a winnable pathway to the Stanley Cup.
  6. I think the word "some" (suffering) was used a little too loosely here. That's very true that it usually (and should) take less time but we are in the 2nd (or 3rd depending on how you look at it) full rebuild with no success from the first. As for Tampa, well, they already won a cup and then rebuilt and then won a few more so I wouldn't be shocked if they drop off for a few years and then are right back in the mix in another 3 or 4. Boston loses tonight and the talk will all be about how their time is over and their cupboard is bare too. Washington and Pittsburgh will have a hard time staying in the mix if they aren't already out of it. The time is right for Sabres, Senators, Red Wings, all to make the right moves and take their places.
  7. Maybe. If they lose for sure. If they win they might still make switches. Foligno out is a good move. He hasn't been impressive. Most interesting (if it's true) is Gryzlyk with McAvoy and Orlov with Forbert. Balancing the 3 D pairs rather than loading up and going primarily with 4 in a game 7. This move will be controversial with fans if they lose. Forbert hasn't been very good. It will be interesting to see what Lindy does as well. Shmid came in and played great but Rangers sort of seemed to have figured him out last game so will he stick with him or go back to the season starter? Tough decision.
  8. Better choices than JBot made. Not that that says much.
  9. Sure, but I don't see a name on that list with Ryan Reynolds sort of cache or trendiness. Sell it to Elon Musk and let him launch rockets between periods. Kidding of course, but I kind wish he would just sell it to somebody who would keep it there and do something new and exciting.
  10. I would prefer this, for the entertainment value, but I don't think so.
  11. I saw the Tragically Hip play their first big concert outside of Kingston on the Lebreton Flats. Canada Day 1988 (maybe 89?) . Big empty field close to downtown. Hard to believe it's still undeveloped land. Kanata's a 'burb, not really that far from Ottawa main and a lot of middle class people live out there. It was built there for cars and parking. The Flats would be traffic and parking chaos but I guess they'd be pushing transit use. Ryan Reynolds as a front guy for that franchise would be brilliant for them. everybody loves that guy. Next they'll have to get Rob McIlheny to lead a group and buy Philadelphia so they can have a true rivalry 🙂
  12. I don't actually think it will be. They'll be too worried about penalties so it'll be the least physical game of the series. Probably still a lot of hacking and whacking in front though. The big question is Swayman or Ullmark, who does Montgomery go with. and of course then what happens. I really hope it's not Florida Leafs though. Just too many damn ex-Sabres doing well with Vegas, Edmonton and Toronto already. If this keeps up Murray will light up a cigar somewhere and say "see, I was right".
  13. Damn Leafs might actually win the cup this year. F'n ROR.
  14. It's full on locker room vs. coach, who will win? https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/jets-wheeler-on-bowness-i-didnt-like-how-he-handled-himself-after-the-game/?__vfz=medium%3Dconversations_top_pages I especially liked how he says the playoffs is the most important thing in their lives for some guys, "not for me" but some guys. (I know he meant his kids are the most important thing in his life but it still comes off beautifully hilarious. That team is f'd.
  15. That's exactly what I'm talking about. A veteran reliable (primarily) stay at home guy so Power can worry less about being perfect and try things and "unleash" his full potential like you say. I'm pretty sure Power will be fine regardless, he has the right character, but I think he'd develop faster and maybe even better in that sort of scenario.
  16. For you. Not me. It's a Bobby Orr thing. (yes, I'm that old). Childhood. Team colours (same as my hometown and first sports team the Hamilton Tiger Cats). I've gone over this in older threads. French Connection turned me into a Sabres fan, although Gare, Schoenfeld and Dudley were actually my favourite players from that era. What an era that was!!! Bruins winning has helped keep me (semi)sane during this horrible Sabres decade. I honestly don't know how many of you don't lose your love for hockey watching only the Sabres. It must be truly horrible to live like that and watch the playoffs every year without them. That to me seems "gross". Ya, that's a BIG disagreement. I think he is a horrible defenseman. He can survive as a bottom pairing guy if paired with a solid defensively responsible guy but I'd rather he was just made obsolete. He holds back Power's development imo.
  17. Interesting comparison, and we could falter and lose all our future promise in a heartbeat as well (hope not). Why have they failed? Several things I think. Goalie has been a little like Ullmark now with the Bruins. Great at times in the regular season but not a playoff stud. At least not always. Solid forward group at times but D has never been a strength. Sometimes injured, sometimes just lacking depth, Morrissey can't do everything. Some forwards on that team are quitters. Bad leadership core I guess. Team falls apart in adversity. Don't know the team well enough to say for sure but I suspect that plays in to it. Players have wanted out of there periodically and others might not be happy to be there. That'd be my guess.
  18. Oh yes, ultimately, on a GOOD D core he's a solid bottom pairing guy. No question on that. I would just say in the interim, as you work towards that D he's a better 2nd pairing stop gap and compliment to Power than what we are currently doing. Do I want a better top 4 guy added, absolutely, but any improvement is better than no improvement.
  19. Bruins fans are hilarious right now. Totally losing their s##t. Bruins are my B team and I wanted them to win (still do) but this fan over -reaction is almost worth it. Very entertaining in a car crash watching sort of way. "Fire Montgomery" now after what was a season of "obvious coach of the year."
  20. Bruins fans are spoiled, but they turn on the team quickly. Two years ago it was fire Sweeney. This year it was all praise Sweeney. All season long it was praise for Ullmark. Now he's the whipping boy. They're all going crazy right now as I suppose figures after the way the season went. They can still pull this out, but the worry and panic is definitely in the air.
  21. Bruins fans just ruthlessly dumping on Ullmark. You should all love that.
  22. Ya I was thinking you meant DuBois. Morrissey's fine (even if he is a bit of a mopey singer) 🙂
  23. Parayko would be an interesting add. Certainly makes the top 4 better. (I'd still try to sign Conor Clifton in free agency even if we did trade for Parayko)
  24. If he was, he might be. Seeing what I've seen from Borgen over the last few months if he was still a Sabre I might have him playing with Power. We definitely would have had better depth in that injury period and we definitely wouldn't have had to go to Bryson at the bottom end. Jokiharju and Stillman would be fighting it out to be Lybushkin's partner. I'm sure some would disagree, but I see Borgen (now) as similar to Lybushkin, only more physical and slightly better. Really good team guy as well. So he'd not be the solution to the D problem (we could still use a better top 4 guy) but he would have made it better. All moot now anyway. Just off season talkin'. Watch Seattle though and tell me you don't find them entertaining. No thanks. I would have taken the chance after he quit on Torts (giving Torts the blame) but now he's quit in 2 places. I don't want that in this locker room.
  25. Maybe not, but then again, with him in that role they are leading going into a game 6 in the playoffs so he can't be all bad. You and I (and everyone else) knows that the haunting of Will Borgen keeps coming to mind because we keep talking about how we need another solid D man. We all also know how it would likely have been hard to keep him, but at this point we'd have been better to give them VO wouldn't we. Seattle game should be fun tonight.
