As would I, but these guys rarely say anything negative about teams they leave. No burning bridges, you might get a job down the line as a scout or whatever so they all play "nice". Kyle won't say anything negative either, but I wish he would tell it like it is.

Well the "rule" has to be changed that's for sure but since they are the violator I will hate them for now (almost as much as I will continue to hate the Leafs). TSN compared it to the old Yankees era where everybody went there and they spent far more than any other team. I think it's a fair comparison.

Nope. Smart asset management by Philly showing you how to rebuild AND compete at the same time. Do not confuse the current Philly management with Cliff Fletcher. Philly got Walker and his salary as a throw in salary dump last year, used him well and flipped him for a 1st rounder and then tossed a 4th away for a temp fill in while Seeler, Ristolainen and Drysdale are all injured because they are still in the hunt. So future and present at the same time. That, imo, is good management.

The salaries are what they are, but compared to corporate CEOs they make peanuts. It's all relative, and if the market and supply and demand allow it, then they get paid. If the cost of tickets etc. goes so high nobody goes, then the market collapses. Too many people love sports for any of this to change in my lifetime. Good for them to make whatever they can. Heck, I get paid more than I've ever been paid in my life for contract work again, because of supply and demand. They got nobody. That's capitalism. So I don't begrudge them the money, but I will hate them for a lack of effort. Thus, I hate Skinner as an example.

Ryan O'Reilly loves hockey. I should just stop there but I will add that that was yet another team that should be worse than us but is already better than us. There are rebuilds and then there are rebuilds, as they say on Letterkenny, figure it out. BB was exactly what I expected. Good offensively, mediocre to bad defensively. Just like the rest of them. Perfect fit. As an aside, I watched the Bruins/Leafs first and it was a playoff style game. Leafs totally different than what we saw the night before even though the Bruins spanked them all the same. I mention this because it is a direct example of how the Sabres late season surges are misleading. If leafs brought the game I saw tonight against what we brought they would have blown us out. I know they won in OT anyway, but if you watch it I think you will get the point. Now why the f were they talking about Ray Bourque and putting up Bruins scoring stats in a Buffalo broadcast of a Nashville game???? That boggles my mind and I guess, they enjoy the Bruins more too these days 🙂 (seriously, that was just weird!)

Let's be optimistic. He can't and won't be traded so MAYBE a buyout is part of the "plan". There was and is talk that the Sabres are operating under an internal cap. The math would support that idea so MAYBE it's not Pegula being cheap, MAYBE it's setting a number that allows them to add Skinner buyout money onto it and still function smoothly. I'm going to hope on that one until it's proven wrong (which it probably is). In any event, Skinner has to go and the sooner the better by any means and any way. (then with his buyout money in hand he will sign for cheap with Toronto or Detroit, score 50 goals, but somehow knock them out of the playoffs for a spot we can take)

I would suggest BOTH options are valid and we won't be after big name free agents but filling out 4th lines and such with slight overpays would be just fine. As an example I will point back to the guy I wanted last year, Hathaway. He sat and waited for quite a while before signing in Philly. He'd have been a great 4th liner and Cozens jaw agrees with me.

Nashville has been surprisingly good this year and especially good lately so they are in the hunt for the playoffs rather than in full rebuild - some teams get it done. So, if Sabres bring the crap they brought against the leafs it's another loss. But with this team who knows? Might be the best of the year effort, it seems unpredictable. "Obviously" (to quote Conor Clifton) it will be interesting to see BB and to see if he gets confused by how badly our forwards play D compared to Colorado.

and I see there was a good squabble and some name calling along the way so that might be a performance bonus extra. I suppose ultimately KA was a really big fan of the 2021 Canadian World Junior team and wants as much of that roster as he can get. We now have 5 members of that team, I wonder if that's a record?

Well assuming they do trade one or both of them Rousek gets his audition time so hopefully he makes the most of it but I think we need better and need to address that in free agency. Give him a shot though, maybe he surprises and gets the job. The opportunity is certainly there.

My purely speculative guess is that Adams will trade Joker and/or Mule in the off season. Byram will be paired with Dahlin.

Clearly those deals were linked. Avs dumped salary with Johanson and replaced an offensive D man with a more defensive D man. Mitts slots in as their 2C. Avs more playoff ready now with cap room to add more at the deadline.

This was likely the worst OT I've seen this year by any team. Never seen so many turnovers and giveaways, like nobody cared on either side, in a format that is pretty much possession based. It was just horrible hockey and Cozens play was just one of many that preceded it (by both teams).

I'm going to disagree with that. If you've laid out a long term vision and have decided what percentage of your money goes to what position, then your hands are tied, even if you are the one who tied them. idk what Mitts was asking for, but I suspect it was a number far too high and thus trading him makes more sense than being stuck in a contract problem that would only serve to increase the nobody wants to be here conversation. Better to move him before that happens. Only problem is it'll be the same thing with Byram. I'm not going to disagree that Adams has made his own bed, just that having made it, he has to lie in it. One cannot keep switching plans in the middle. The problem the team has will remain the same with Mitts or with Byram. Lack of solid veteran leadership, depth and grit. No veteran back up goalie. No 2 way 3C . The same holes as ever. Unless he makes more changes.

Well it was definitely not the game I expected to see. What a listless affair. Leafs I get, they are saving it up for the Bruins tomorrow, but the Sabres should have been loose and free and going for it. Tells me what I already knew. This team has no heart. Pile of garbage. Skinner will reach 1000 NHL games next year and will never have been in the playoffs, not even once. Now that is a f'n accomplishment.

No way. Leafs are going to be thinking Bruins tomorrow so they will have given the Sabres no thoughts at all and Sabres will score in bunches. It'll be a big score tonight win or lose but I think Sabres will actually do most of that scoring. Unless they are in a sulk over Mitts being traded.
