How many Norris Trophies will Dahlin win?
sabresparaavida replied to Crusader1969's topic in The Aud Club
In 2016, Drew Doughty won the Norris, despite having 31 less points than Erik Karlsson -
I wasnât saying he was. I was reacting your point that implied Franchise wingers = Franchise centers, and I was disagreeing. I did not declare that Fantilli was going to be a franchise center. If you donât think he will be, why not just refute that, instead of making a completely separate point.

Tell that to McDavid, Crosby, Matthews

If that was the case, why didnât Roman Jodi win last year when he had 10 more points than Makar? or in 2021 with Tyson Barrie leading defenseman in points? Or in 2019 with Brent Burns leading defenseman by 9 points and still losing or in 2018 when Hedman was 5th in scoring but won. Leading defenseman in points is special anyways, even though it doesnât gurantee the Norris. Something interesting to note: what was a better predictor of Norris winning was points+ +\-, which I tested for the past 5 years and each year was correct except 2020, in which Fox was 2nd. -

Maybe will -
Something not being mentioned in the above discussions: say we signed Dahlin for 8 years after his ELC. He ends up 29 when his contract ends. It would have been cheaper contract, but when itâs up we either re-sign with term or likely lose him. Now if we sign him for 8 after his contract ends, he will be 32 and a good age to move on from, or signed to a more reasonable deal.

Make Waste (of the Oilers) -
I hope not. Heâs overpaid.

Skinner has been the better goalie so far, Campbell on Saturday allowed 4 goals on 11 shots, after which he was pulled and Skinner was 31/31 for saves.
-
Did you also watch Carter Huttonâs start to his first 2 seasons here and think he was a top 10 goalie? Hutton had more impressive games and tanked the rest of the season. 1 game is a horrible sample size for a goalie.

Considering he wanted to raise up the pitchforks before the game about Anderson starting, maybe this is his way of saying heâs eating crow?

Sam Reinhartâs best season with the Sabres (which he was playing wing for mostly): 22 goals and 65 points in 82 games Tage Thompson last year: 38 goals, 68 points in 79 games.

I think Bryson demonstrated that he belongs in the NHL last year even if his roll should be as a 6/7. Iâd pick him over Fitzgerald and Pilut despite not a great pre-season. JJP over Hiney is a more debatable call, as JJP has not proven himself in the NHL. Last year, JJP started slow in the AHL last year, and once he adjusted to the league he dominated. Granato definitely believes in development through exposure, and it seems that he values the growth JJP will have over the struggles we may see early on. It wouldnât surprise me if Granato saw JJP as a borderline NHLer now but could be a strong 2nd liner by season end. Of course, he also could think JJP is ready for that third line roll now, more so than Hiney.

Trading For the Curious Case of Jason Robertson
sabresparaavida replied to Porous Five Hole's topic in The Aud Club
I would definitely say itâs more than a small margin: over the last 2 years, Robertson had had 124 points in 125 games with 58 goals, compared to Norrisâ 90 points in 122 games and 52 goals. Robertson was averaging .25 more points per game than Norris, thatâs not particularly close. (Pretty much the difference ppg wise of Tage Thompson and Okposo last year) -
So a team down 5 defensive starters going into the game, as well as the 3 DT, losing the #3 Outside CB, as well as not having/losing 3/5ths of a starting line, and having the top 3 receivers, and #1 TE limited due to cramps/injuries/hear and sticking tight to/dominating the play against a purported top 5-10 team is now one of â7-8 teams?â There are not 7-8 teams that could have performed that well in that state.

I agree with the above sentiment, I think if JJP wins a starting lineup job it will likely be from Vinny.
