I have not seen this discussed yet on the board so I want to get others opinion on this matter. So if Vegas happens to win the lottery this year the highest they can pick would be 6th. (Teams can only move up 10 spots). By them winning it gives Buffalo an unprotected 1st rd pick in 2023 which is supposed to be a much deeper draft. So my question is: Do the Sabres want pick #16 in 2022, or a chance at a higher or lower pick in 2023 depending on how Vegas does next year? With all the turmoil going on in Vegas right now I'd almost wish they win the lottery this year, struggle again next year and the Sabres get a top 10 pick in 2023.

Offseason Gameplan 2022 - Solving the goaltending system wide.

Since it seems UPL may be starting the year in Buffalo, I hope Anderson comes back to the team as a 3rd goalie/mentor and the Sabres still get a veteran like Fluery, Holtby, Koskinen, or Husso to be starter for the next year. -
Pre-Game Atmosphere at Key Bank Arena is Lacking
sweetlou replied to CallawaySabres's topic in The Aud Club
I believe games should be entertaining. I want there to be music and fans dancing during stoppages. I want live music before the game and during the intermissions. For the cost of tickets nowadays, fans should be entertained during the 3 hours they are at the arena. -
Could get Gudas from Florida for probably a 3rd rd pick. Florida needs to shed salary bad.

Money talks and the Sabres have plenty for the next two years. I don't want to stunt the growth of the future, but in my mind there are still a couple of young players that could use more development; Krebs, Peterka, and UPL. Get some vets in on one or two year contracts and lets get in the playoffs!

done, thanks for setting this up

Meier goal was typical Eichel in the defensive zone. He skates around thinking he can get to every puck and does not stay with whom he is supposed to be covering. He did it all the time with the Sabres. He back checks well because of his speed, but is lost in the d zone if the other team ever starts to cycle.

I've said in multiple threads and will say on here as well, KA needs to sign Josh Manson. Manson played under Marty Wilford in Anaheim so he would have some familiarity there. Manson Coldplay on the right side next to Power for the next three years and really let Power grow in his overall game. I like the Mule- Dahlin pair for the top line. For me Joker is a solid 3rd pair defenseman who can move up if needed. Bryson is a 7th defenseman who adds offense to the mix but sometimes struggles in disown end because of his size. Besides Manson one more vet defenseman is needed. other possible UFA's - Chariot, Cole, Rutta, Gudbranson, Benning, and de Hann. My pairings for 21-21 would be: Mule- Dahlin Power- Manson ???-Joker extra- Bryson

In the East I always want teams in Sabres division to do well when the Sabres are not in the playoffs. If they win the cup sometimes they don't trays hard the next year! Florida- this is their all in year. They will struggle with cap issues the next couple of years, but still have a good team. Any success for them, especially a cup means they move on from some key pieces. Tampa- Will continue to have success as long as Stammer, Point, Kuch, Vasy, and Hedman are there. Toronto- Have two years left in their window. Don't see how Matthews does not go to Arizona when he becomes an UFA. Out West I have always liked the Avalanche.

Offseason Gameplan 2022 - Solving the goaltending system wide.

With Portillo and Levi going back to college, I would keep UPL with Amerks to start next year. Sign either Subban or Toker to be in AHL as well. Sabres need to get stronger in goal and depth is key because of injuries. They can growth more proven goalie as starter for next two years, Kuemper, Holtby, or Fluery, or go with less proven commodities like Husso, Kahkonen, Georgiev, or DeSmith. -

Could trade him to Arizona for 5th rd pick. They like those young guys who have not proven anything and on cheap contracts. -

I'm hoping Cozens becomes a Cirelli type of player that can get you 15-20 goals but plays responsible in his d zone. Selke type of center. -

silky Mitts -
Fitz needs to be with Amerks and be used as a depth call up when injuries happen on the big club. Steady defenseman, but not an 82 game NHL defenseman.

I think a nice 5-3 win on the road would be good. Tage x2, Skinner, Power, Asplund -
I don't want Fiala for the price he would cost. He is very similar player to Skinner, so we don't need him. We need another power forward type player like Tuch. Dumba most likely is the player the Wild sign. I see Wild trading Fiala's rights for a player and pick. I proposed in another thread trading the Wild Mitts and Florida 1st for Fiala. Sabres then flip Fiala to Ducks for Comtois and Boston 1st rd. Ducks have cap space as well and with Getzlaf retiring they will need a vet that adds some scoring. Sabres get their other power forward in Comtois. Can play either 2nd or 3rd line LW. Move Krebs to 2nd line center.

I like the idea because it would be a short contract. one of my takes... https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/3205742 -
I don't know all the CBA but if need be make it 7,6,4 and 3. Just front load the first two years. I'd rather pay a guy like Manson an extra million or two each year than Mohave to have guys like Boychuk on injury list just to hit the cap floor.
-
I've been on the Manson band wagon since the Ducks traded him. Can't see Colorado offering him a contract so he will hit the market. The Sabres defenseman coach, Marty Wilford, was the defenseman coach for the Ducks from 2018-2021 before coming to Buffalo so he has a connection with Manson. I don't need Manson to be a point producer. I need him to be a presence in front of the Sabres goaltender and show the young defenseman how to play in your own zone. I'm offering Manson a 4 year contract at $5 million AAV. Make it front loaded so contract could be easy to move the last two years. (7,7,4, and 2.)
-
If I'm KA I go to him this summer and offer 6 years at $6 million. This would be replacing the Okposo $6 million against the cap. This would significantly help Buffalo in the long run if TT continues to be a 60-80 point player. If Tage wants to take the risk and bet on himself then KA should wait until at least the midway point in next season to offer a bigger contract or longer term if he continues at his current scoring pace. If he struggles then I wait until the offseason and becomes a RFA.

Who Is A Better at Hockey: Victor Olofsson or Samson Reinhart?
sweetlou replied to bob_sauve28's topic in The Aud Club
Same scoring ability, Sam better passer, both meh in defensive zone. Edge definitely to Sam.
