I think we got a real steal with Savoie, I admit I had to read up on Östlund/Kulich because i wasn't that familiar other than seeing them in mocks and it looks like both Savoie/Östlund project to be top 2 line wingers (Savoie RW/Östlund LW) at the NHL level and Kulich projects as a grinding 3rd line C. I loved the Topias Leinonen pick, I know he had a bunch of trouble in Liiga this past season but it was his first year playing against grown men so those numbers should improve this year. He did real well in the U20 Sarja, he's a big body who moves very well laterally. There is uncertainty in net with both Levi/Portillo going back to College so this was a much needed selection imo. Another value pick was Mats Lindgren, I was really surprised he lasted as long as he did. I immediately thought Ryan Johnson would be dealt since he's yet another LHD, We're definitely solid on the left side it seems for quite some time.

I didn't mean that Buffalo should sign him, I don't think he'd come here. I think we're going to have a hard time finding a legit goalie like I've stated countless times but I also hope I'm wrong.

Unless Washington trades for a goalie, I'd view Samsanov as the best UFA goalie on the market. If I had to guess I'd say he wants a hefty raise and they don't have the space for his demands.

Yeah this is definitely more along the lines of what I feel are realistic options for us. It doesn't really make much sense adding high priced free agents when we still don't know who most of our core players are yet. Those goalie options mentioned are more along the lines of what I've been saying we'll probably go after and I'm glad KA isn't giving up on UPL, if he can stay healthy I think he could be an option for us. Reimer would be a solid addition.

Yeah they look like a team ready to start making a claim for a playoff spot imo.

Josh Norris looks like a great prospect at C also for Ottawa, he had 55 points in 66 games.

It's a solid depth signing, I don't hate it at all. Doesn't mean he can't be trade bait still either at that price.

I know goalie is the main talk but do we re-sign Hinistroza? Or is Quinn taking his spot? Or a FA? I still think we need 2 RHD vets, who can we convince with an overpay to come mentor Power and help in the bottom pair? I know we’ll find out Wednesday.

Just because our opinions differ doesn’t mean I’m clueless. In the end I think all of us just want this team to win, I’ll take winning by any means necessary at this point, I’m just not a fan of the person. I feel like we’d be adding another Jack Eichel personality type into our locker room. I don’t know him personally so I can’t be certain but there is plenty to read about his character.

Kind of a moot point either way, he'll most likely never be a Sabre so no use going back and forth about this any longer.

It doesn't make much sense to what we're building now. Trying to find our core and then throw Patrick Kane in there because he's from the area.

There are several different avenues including FA but you left off Brayden Holtby & Mikko Koskinen. We could also go the RFA route and try to steal Varlamov from the Capitals or Oettinger from the Stars but then we have to think they'd retaliate when guys like Dahlin, Power and others contracts become available. Also on the trade front you have John Gibson, Jonathan Quick, James Reimer or Hill from San Jose. Gibson seems unlikely because of years left on contract but Quick or Reimer would be solid stop gaps imo.

I never said they would have started this year. I’m just saying you’re sitting here saying he should be signing someone and we couldn’t even get guys to play in Rochester let alone an NHL starter. I feel it’s going to happen but the quality of player may not be what some are expecting.

It was a no from Matt Murray, no from Linus Ullmark, no from Portillo and a no from Levi. Holtby, Quick, Gibson, Reimer or Hill at this point as I don’t think we have a legit shot at Keumpfer or Campbell.

I have a feeling any goalie we get will be mediocre to you.
