  1. Peter and Scott played for Nichols not to long after I did. Peter wasn’t born in WNY if I remember correctly.
  2. There was a 3rd Sabre Olympian in 1980; Eric Strobel. He broke an ankle in a playoff game for the Amerks that season and retired from hockey.
  3. Rostislav Klesla
  4. Probably long-term, but not now. JJP isn't ready for the NHL, while Murray is already an effective NHL player.
  5. Should they send UPL down also once Anderson gets healthy or does this send everyone down theory only apply to skaters?
  6. Mr. Brown, Vontae Davis on line 1. What does he want? He wants to thank you for ending the need for his meme.
  7. Actually that and some NHL time may have helped him
  8. Thank you Ralph Krueger.
  9. Morris Titanic, a high draft pick that sank. Drafted 12th overall and played 19 NHL games for the Sabres with Zero points.
  10. Krebs, as I also noted, should have been drafted higher. He has a much higher ceiling then Lazar ultimately had, but he is a much different style of player.
  11. ....and Murray is still in the top 9.
  12. Don't know. Don't care. He is one of our 9 best forwards right now and lets see where he stands, how he plays and what role he is given if and when some of the guys on your list return from injury and Covid. Let's say all the guys return healthy, including Jankowski and with Krebs also in the lineup. We'll be able to field a roster with 4 talented and hard working lines without having to play Hayden, Caggiula, Bjork or even Eakin. That would be awesome. It might look something like this Skinner Thompson Tuch Olofsson Krebs Okposo Murray Cozens Hinostroza Girgensons Jankowski Asplund
  13. Murray should be on the Sabres because he is a better player then the guys mentioned as his replacement. Hayden is not a key penalty killer. He averages about 1 minute a game and didn't kill any penalties in 14 of his 26 games this season. He doesn't score and only recently has killed some penalties, why is he even on the roster? The beauty of it is he doesn't have to be on the roster any longer. Eakin, Caggiula, Bjork and Hayden, some or all have beautiful slots on the taxi squad waiting for them. People seem to be forgetting the purpose of the AHL is player development. It exists to funnel players up to the NHL. The waiver exemption exists so that developing players can move up and down between the leagues as they work toward staying in the NHL permanently. JJP and R2 have shown flashes but also have shown they aren't ready and were correctly sent down. Krebs is showing that he maybe ready and has earned some additional games. Murray has proven that he is a capable NHL player in our top 9. He is averaging about 14-15 minutes a night including some PP time. The only thing sending him down now does is punish a guy who has earned a fulltime gig. I'm sorry but that isn't how this is supposed to work. Send him down to reinforce Rochester in the playoffs, maybe, but he should stay the rest of the NHL season in Buffalo.
  14. You don’t leave guys in the minors just because of age and then poof they are ready for the NHL. It just doesn’t work like that. Go look at the histories of Campbell, Roy, Pominville, Asplund, Thompson and many others. Most prospects go up and down a few times as they adjust to the speed of the NHL. There is no one book on player development. It’s not linear and goes in fits and spurts. Development also happens at the NHL. If Krebs makes this team better now, I have zero problem with him playing the remainder of the season in Buffalo developing chemistry with the guys he’ll be centering next season. If KA and the management team want him to go down and get playoff experience, I’m fine with that to. What I’m not fine with leaving guys in Rochester just because, like they are doing with Samuelsson or playing guys in situations that hurts their development or doesn’t maximize their skill set such as putting scoring forwards like R2 with JAGs like Hayden and Caggiula. The goal with development should always be to put guys in the best position to succeed while also challenging them to get better. Samuelsson has nothing left to prove in Rochester. Leaving him there when he is ready to replace a terrible player like Butcher makes no sense at all.
  15. So we should send Murray down because he can be sent down despite his proving that he is a capable and effective NHL player? I have an idea, lets get rid of the bad hockey players on the Sabres and build a good team. That starts with getting rid of the Haydens, Eakins, and Butchers etc... and replacing them asap with better guys whether they are internal or external candidates. How about we send Hayden down to the minors and let him play where he belongs and leave Murray where he is. Players can develop and learn in the NHL.
  16. They don’t want to play OSU, Mich and Penn St every year
  17. They are the definition of bad team roster filler. Tank fodder. I said in camp that none of these guys should have made the team ahead of Murray and they shouldn’t stay on the team ahead of Murray now. At this point I’d rather keep both Jankowski and Krebs up rather then keep playing Eakin or Bjork. However KA/DG likely want Eakin here to win PK and PP draws. No one else on the team is at 50%.
  18. Murray has made this team. Send Krebs down or don’t. Personally I’d keep Jankowski, Murray and Krebs over Bjork, Hayden, Caggiula or Eakin. Hayden followed by Bjork should be the first 2 voted off the island. Murray 15gp 2g 4a 6 pts -1 Hayden 26 gp 0g 2a 2 pts -4 Caggiula 23gp 2g 3a 5pts -4 Bjork 29gp 4g 1a 5pts -6 Eakin 28 gp 3g 5a -8
  19. It’s both fair and unfair. Yes they were drafted in the same slot from the same league, but that is where the comparison ends. Krebs and Lazar are very different style players. Krebs was a playmaker in Juniors while Lazar was more of a goal scorer with 41 in his D+1 season. It’s also unfair to Krebs to assume after 16 NHL games that he’ll end up like Lazar and be a marginal NHL player. Truthfully Krebs injury hurt his draft status, but neither guy was ever expected to carry their NHL team.
  20. No but this was pretty good.
  21. Did anyone else notice that former Sabres prospect and former Amerk player Justin Kea was the Ref in the Amerks game? Also former Amerk Jordan Samuels-Thomas is also a new AHL ref.
  22. The only place ND belongs is in the ACC.
  23. Clemson before Dabo took over was a mediocre team at best. Where was GA 6-7 years ago? They were a solid 8-10 win team but not a contender. They hired the right coach and recruited. Florida could easily do the same thing. USC and Texas have access to great recruiting bases and consistently fail. Oregon has built a great program, sadly they just can’t seem to get over the hump, but now hired a great coach who can get them there. Bama has been great for a decade plus, but others like GA and Clemson have closed the gap. Oklahoma and Ohio St are in hunt every year as well. Texas A&M has taken a huge leap forward and has incredibly deep resources. The way to build competitive balance is for other teams to step up.
