They could eliminate this with one fell swoop with video replay. You get caught diving you miss the next game. Done.

Do you mean this strategy?

I hope I'm wrong, but I worry the kid will struggle badly in Roch. It'd be tough to watch as a fan of the team, and could hurt his development. I don't know the logistics, but it'd be good if he could do a year in the CHL as a first intro to the North American game. There he could hopefully put on some size, then go to Roch the following season, where he'll still potentially struggle.

Too lazy to look at all the stats, but were Bryson or Fitz ever as good as Pilut was in Rochester? How was Pilut in the KHL? I'll agree with those that say they give him a pass on the Krueger days. I was pretty high on him before. That said, his ship has likely sailed in Buffalo, but hopefully he'd be a tradeable commodity, maybe as part of a package... Even for a pick.

Making Team Canada is a much taller order than Team Sweden.

I don't think the Swedish Jr League is as good as the CHL, so I'd want to see him get more points than his much lower drafted CHL counterparts. More importantly, I'd also want to see him well ahead of William Von Barnekow in ppg, who was taken in the 6th round by the team. Unfortunately, he was behind WVB... Not ahead of him. I'd also want him to not be virtually invisible in the World U20s this year. Also, I'd like to see how much weight he put on in the last year to see how serious he is about playing NHL hockey. The initial link from SabresPR at @Brawndo posted has him listed at 159lb. Hopefully that's incorrect, because his draft profile from last year has him listed at 161. https://thehockeywriters.com/2021-nhl-draft-profile-isak-rosen/

I'm just P.O.'d they took him where they did, mainly just based on the U18s. If they wanted to take a high risk - high reward player, I wish they would have did some homework on a CHL kid that didn't play due to the lockdown.

The guy we picked in the 6th round out produced him in the same league... And he has a WAY cooler name to boot. https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/420445/william-von-barnekow

He was invisible in the World Juniors when I watched him.

Check his ppg in the Swedish Junior League this year. Small sample size of only 8 games, but he's WAY back. https://www.eliteprospects.com/league/j20-nationell/stats/2021-2022?sort=ppg And it's not like he's got the size to make up for his pedestrian scoring against other kids. I could probably look the other way if he was knocking on 200lbs.

Admittedly, I don't pay much attention to these types of signings, and didn't pay any attention to when the other guys signed... But I will say every one of those guys you mentioned is further along than Rosen is right now.

Outside of his inflated draft position, he's done absolutely nothing to deserve this.

I'm at an arena for my son and just heard all Finns singing "We Are The Champions" as the music is pumped into the arena. Obviously the ceremony was all preplanned, but it seems a little low end under the circumstances.

Is it that, or is it that he knows he's slumping? -

Quinn seems to have the hockey equivalent of the yips. His decision making screams trying too hard instead of playing the game by natural feel. -
Mike Myers appeared on Colbert in a Sabres sweater...

Why any gun control at all? Arm everyone with nukes. The 2nd amendment should be absolute. Anything less is just a conspiracy by the Dems and the elites to keep us responsible nuke owners down. 🤠🚀 -
Man... You really had your finger on the button for this post. Series just ended!

There's a difference though. Alex Tuch's favourite team is the Buffalo Sabres. Auston Matthews favourite team is Auston Matthews.

Every year after the Leafs get knocked out, I celebrate by rereading this article from the Toronto Sun. Such a finely written piece that so succinctly sums up everything I hate about the Leafs and why I love watching them crash and burn. https://torontosun.com/2017/09/11/simmons-vaulted-by-big-3-this-maple-leafs-team-is-a-champion-in-waiting

Hotels are one option. The other is booking through private property management agencies. In the early days, private owners on VRBO undercut the property managers by quite a bit. Not any more, but I find both options to usually be more than hotels these days.

I quit using both due to fees. I used to love the early days of VRBO before Expedia took them over.

As I stated before, sacrificing future draft picks to improve for only a few years is bad for a franchise. The key to winning is by being competitive year after year until you get lucky. It's statistically smarter to keep a competitive team year after year after year than to marginally improve your odds in a 2 or 3 year window by loading up, only to fall off afterwards. By giving up 4 first rounders, you will no doubt fall off a cliff as a franchise at the end of those 4 years (in a cap world).
-
That was the bottom end prognosis. On the other hand, there's Power, Quinn, Cozens, and Dahlin. I don't think anyone makes that trade. At the same time, an RFA is that much closer to UFA, so you only have the guy for a limited time before you either have to give him a potential Skinner level contract or watch him sail off into the sunset.
-
Precisely this. If it did make sense, you'd have to overpay. That said, GMs that are afraid of pissing off their fan bases usually match, even when it doesn't make sense to do so (as in Vanek's case). But the math highly favours keeping the picks, again with the extra FA money it leaves you, in addition to the high probability of getting more than one impact player.

4 late first round picks PLUS all that cap space. I agree with what you're saying in a non-cap world. Since you need as many good cheap guys as possible in a cap world, you'll need those 4 late first rounders or you'll run out of cap space and be stuck signing JAGs to fill out the bottom end of your lineup.
