Is Don Granato the best coach the Sabres have had since Lindy Ruff?

I’ll tell you this: Donny is an another planet vs RK. That guy was clueless. -
My take: The Bills are sunk. That is not being negative but it is football 'logic'. The Pats, Indy, and Bucs exposed our team. It is all in the trenches. The Bucs blitzed constantly and JA was lost the whole first half. Everyone knows we are one dimensional and there is little chance this late, we are suddenly going to get a run game. YOU HAVE TO BE ABLE TO RUN!. Football 101. Our Front office and Coaches failed catastrophically in this regard. What we see is what we get. A talented skill team that is unable to win against good teams because (a) we cannot stop the run and (b) we cannot run or protect the QB. JA is taking unnecessary punishment that will lead to injuries and him wearing down early in his career. I have no doubt we have a superstar QB, but this cannot continue. We will probably win 3 of 4 (the weak teams) and lose against NE in the same way. If we make the playoffs we are likely one and done. The coaching is too good in the NFL, and against better personnel, to have this glaring of a weakness and win. It is not an accident we are 1-5 against good teams. It was clear week one and predictably continued. We are one dimensional and clearly have been figured out. Even Urban Meyer commented how easy our offense was to stop. That is not good. This team needs a philosophical overhaul this offseason. Beane has wasted too many picks on the d line and failed to address the most glaring problem since Big #97 left... we need a monster in the middle. Neither are we getting sacks from our DE's regularly either. That is on Beane. Unfortunately, yet again we have to draft at this position. The entire interior of the O line has to be replaced and we need to sign a true blocking TE. We don't even fully know what we have at RB because they have no chance on most plays. But we probably need an upgrade there as well. No matter what happens (I predict another close loss in the wildcard game), this offseason is going to make or break our window of opportunity the next few years. All eyes are on Beane and his scouts to fix this and not waste this opportunity. I am not one that thinks McDermott is the problem. He is still learning and a young coach and made some errors, but yesterday his adjustments (on defense vs Brady) were some of the best I have seen all year by any team. I think McDermott is frustrated because he desires a physical team and is quietly embarrassed over this season. His nature is a physical team and i believe he is not happy with a "soft" team. You can read it in his pressers. I don't have any concerns about him as head coach but we have to question the philosophy of our OC at this point. Dabol went from hero to zero. Good coaches figure out how to adjust. Don't think Belichek did not build his team first to beat Buffalo and win the division, then how to win without a star QB vs a lot of young and talented QB's in the AFC. We need to start having a one step ahead mentality.

It’s just one of those seasons we don’t have the magic in any of these games. We just can’t beat good teams. Just one painfully heartbreaking loss after another. We get so close but don’t pull out a single one if these games. Such a frustrating and disappointing season.

JA is so good. Hopefully we can build a better team around him.

I am out fellas. Cannot take another minute of watching the Titanic sink. Not surprised if Miami over takes us and we finish in 3rd place. What a unexpected and sudden end to our one year reign.
-
Below average. Lost 4 of the past 6. Got beat by Jax and a team that threw 3 times.
-
Get him an o line. He gets hit every play.
-
This team is no longer a super bowl contender. Lots of changes to get there.
-
This is not a playoff team. I’m shocked how poorly coached and overmatched we are against good teams.
-
A 5th round pick Thats an all pro. And… we drafted. It’s a mistake that is inexcusable. We might have to do a mini rebuild this off-season. Especially in the trenches.
-
JA will be requesting a trade soon with that o line. The Wyatt Teller gaffe is one of the biggest mistakes I’ve seen now helping to sink this season. Management has a lot of work cut out for them this off season or we are going to start wasting a franchise QBs career.
-
This season was over week one. Let’s be honest. This team is soft and the Pats game was the mail in the coffin. Cowherd picked them to win. I said no way this team has no spirit this year. JA has no help. Defense can’t stop the run.

Another failed sports year. The life of a Buffalo sports fan.

It’s a sad time when “they had energy and played well even though they have only won 1 of the past 10” synopsis is the best we got.
-
Absolutely. He makes not just routine saves, but actually makes some really clutch saves to keep us in the past two games. Ten times better than Dell, Tokarski.
-
Still can’t win, But UPL got us a point.

UPL got us a point

Pull that horn 3 times!
-
Girgs really misplayed that. This is why we lose. Normal teams probably pounce on that error for a goal. Yet another whiffed opportunity by VO for a sure goal.
-
They want to see UPLs percentage of stopping 3 on 1’s I guess.
-
I would not want to be a goalie in this team. The sure quantity of errors is comical. I think we have 3 give aways and an odd man rush in the first 3 minutes.

My goodness

Good evening gents… ready to suffer will you all again tonight! The flicker of hope in me holds on for a win though. Lol

UPL looks better here than Rochester (outside of the last week). Weird.
