  1. I've tried cooking more spicy food lately but I think we'll try mexican tonight if anything then for luck.
  2. My complaint is that our son is not born yet! His expected due date is this Saturday so I guess technically he's not late yet. But my poor wife is having a difficult time getting around and it will be better for everyone when he finally enters the world.
  3. Well I can't wait to get home and watch this presser later. I really hope Buffalo is committed to a full re-build. I know we've been waiting forever but some of these signings (john scott, brad boyes etc.) are bandaide solutions. We need a full rebuild and don't worry about doing everything to squeeze into 8th next year. Start planning now and do everything possible to make 2015/2016 and forward your window. Management did everything it could imo to tank down the stretch for a top 5 pick (traded several vetrans, played Enroth a bunch) but the team (unfortunately) won much more than they lost. Do what it takes to get a top 3 or 4 pick!! Trade what we have too.
  4. As I've mentioned before, I had a sign taken away from me at one of the home games. No profanity or anything really offensive. Anyways, I really hope there are some serious changes this offseason because as you have pointed out the fanbase has grown very disinterested with this group of players. As per usual, they go on a late win streak and mess up any chance they had to draft a real difference maker.
  5. I thought Heatley was hurt before he got there. Could be wrong on that though.
  6. Hahahhahaha. Ya, my Generals being knocked out in the second round probably add to my bitterness hahahah.
  7. Ya, and I hate seeing these updates now that we have an unbelievably slim chance (winning draft lottery and taking one of them) of getting one of those two. It's just depressing now :P
  8. If the Jets have any chance to make the postseason they HAVE to win tonight. Do they show up in a must win game like the Sabres on Friday or do they come out flying?
  9. I know, looking at their schedule I think Minny will still make it but they are being flat out outworked in this third period (only period I've caught). What a disappointing game this must be for them in one they need pretty bad. It'll be an interesting final week watching them after this home loss to a bottom feeder. Hudler with the empty netter, this baby is over. It's fitting we have Minni's pick as the games I've watched they remind me of the Sabres. Spent a ton of offseason money that isn't overly paying off and losing big games they need to bottom feeders.
  10. Enroth has played so well recently. Does he get the nod?
  11. Well I sure can't wait to drive 2.5 hours down there and watch them Saturday after this inspiring performance.
  12. I don't disagree with moving down if we ever won it. It'd be very interesting and exciting times around here if we somehow catch a break and win the lottery.
  13. Based on the way we've been playing and how poorly some of the bottom feeders have been playing, I can't see us picking better than 7th or 8th. But if we end up in 5th or 6th, I'd agree that we should do everything we can to get in the top 3.
  14. Ya, IMO I think moving from 1 to 2 would net a decent return and is definetly doable. It's the move from 8th, 9th or 10th to 1 or 2 that I doubt happens. Just out of curiousity, would that be your move if we won the lottery? I would rather the forward prospect myself but it sounds like Jones might end up being the real deal.
  15. But Pitt was selecting 3rd in that draft. Moving up from 8 to the top 1,21 3 is a much bigger jump than 3 to 1. The team trading out of that spot still wants a very high pick. I know 8 sounds high but the value of the top guys in the draft drops significantly after the top 5. Also, as explained before, I don't think Colorado would be willing to pay the money for a Vanek type guy. Calgary on the other hand might be more willing to IMO.
  16. This all depends on how the draft plays out. I understood the move last year because there was a huge run on Dmen and we were looking for a centre. We ended up taking a highly regarded centre with our first pick and the Sabres must have had Girgs ranked high enough on their board that they jumped to trade up. We say now that we don't know who would be worth moving up from say 18th to 12th but if a guy like Monahan (just using him as an example for LGR) then we go for it. As casual fans we're grading the draft a certain way but if the Sabres scouts have a guy pegged at say 8th or 9th on their board sitting their at 12 or 13 and we can move up to take him, I want them to make that move.
  17. It's going to take a lot more than Vanek to get a top 3 pick. Firstly, as someone else pointed out, those trades very rarely happen. Even if Colorado was open to it Vanek only has one year left on his $7 million deal. I'm sure he'll be looking for atleast that kind of dough come extension time. They wouldn't even pay one of their own young key players (O'Reilly) so I doubt they'd be looking to pay big bucks for Vanek. Cheap teams like Colorado are looking to draft good young players who they control financially for a few years. IMO, I feel that unless we win the lottery, we aint getting to the top 3. Best case scenario is we end up around 8 and Minni's pick is around 18. Then we might be able to package the two to move up to maybe 5 if we wanted. Or more than likely we use the 8 spot and then trade a 2nd along with our 18 to move up to something like 12 (similar to what we did last yr).
  18. Oh no, I watch every second of it hoping for the loss.
  19. Oh I didn't mean to post it as if it's going to happen. I'm not up on Twitter (obviously) and want to know if it's literally all just people making things up or if there are actually ppl that are legit. Who should I be following?
  20. Hockeyy Insiderr‏@HockeyyInsiderr2m BREAKING NEWS: #MNWild have HUGE offer on the table for Pominville> #Sabres seriously considering dealing him to Minny; ball in their court! Are all of these twitter guys bogus? I'm not up in the 'new technology' to really know who to trust haha. Good for some excitment atleast.
  21. I understand the concept in the real world. Again, I don't necessarily think it translates to this situation. Ok, I shouldn't say there is no difference between this years pick and next, I would rather have this years. But I don't think it's as big of an issue as has been discussed. To me 2014 2nd and 2015 2nd > 2013 2nd 2013 5th.
  22. I think the exact opposite of this. I feel like Darcy aquired the future picks because it's a signal that there is no immediate rebuild. As I and others have mentioned, 2nd rounders are huge every trade deadline. In a salary cap era teams should be able to turn things around relativley quickly and that 2015 pick may be needed at the deadline. That's just my opinion obviously.
  23. After sleeping on it, I still can't get the rational about draft picks being more valuable today than in the future. The 'I'll pay you tomorrow for a hamburger eaten today' theory does hold true in real life. But that's because of inflation. There is no inflation with hockey players so I just don't get it. I wanted the picks to be this year because I'm impatient but I don't see how it's devalued being in future years.
