  1. Below is a great article to read for those disillusioned by how good the leafs rebuild is going. http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2013/12/03/kadri-out-as-falling-leafs-start-tough-stretch-vs-sharks/
  2. That's a good comparison. Sure we've got a prospect or two but nothing that screams top line C as of now.
  3. Really?! This team has not had a legit #1 centre since the Briere and Drury in their prime days. I'm one of the Hodgson supporters but only because I think he'll be a great fit as a second line centre. I'm not saying the guys mentioned are top line caliber players or not but saying this system needs a top six winger over centre is ridiculous IMO.
  4. That sounds even better.... I absolutely love him. And this isn't coming from someone reading stats and watching a few youtube clips, I watch him regularily. Having said that, I would prefer drafting a centre over a winger.
  5. See I'm the opposite. If we're going to suck big this year, I want there to be that clear #1 sitting there for us. Oh well, let's hope there are a few good ones at the top. Thanks for the update on Draisaitl's stats as I was shocked when I saw them. How could someone be ripping up the WHL with 27 points in 42 games? I know stats arn't everything but It makes me feel better about him having over a point a game average in juniors.
  6. It's been proven a million times the stars overwhelmingly come from the top of the draft. There are so many examples, if you can't see that by now I'm not going on a long post to prove it. Do a little research yourself, including work that's been done by members of this message board.
  7. But I thought we were to all be envious of their rebuild and interview all possible gms and assistant gms that have been involved in this rebuild.
  8. That's true but historically speaking the best of the best come from the top of the draft. I don't care who you have in your front office, the player taken #1 overall is better than the guy taken 10th overall 99 out of 100 times.
  9. I realize the league rules and I'm not just looking at the top pick. However picking second is preferable to picking third, which could easily happen if we get passed by the Oil. This year is a complete right off as far as wins go. I don't want to go on some long run and end up picking 8th or 9th again, especially in a lost year.
  10. I keep thinking we're going to go on a little run at some point and reel off like 4 or 5 in a row. I think I'm just use to us screwing our draft pick. Although our start has been so horrendous that if we can keep this pace up into the new year it won't matter if we go on a late run.
  11. My bad, I forgot he was back there. Obviously didn't watch, just checked out the stats mid game. Thanks. In other prospect news Dal Colle has another OHL special 3 games in 3 nights starting tonight.
  12. Oil beat the preds 3 0 and sabres now 7 points behind the second last team....
  13. I feel like he definetly has more than 1 missed game. Wasn't it like 4 or 5 in a row he was out for? Edit - Yes this article says he missed 5 games. Plus he was hurt 30 seconds into the game he got hurt. http://www.cbssports.com/nhl/eye-on-hockey/24265772/thomas-vanek-will-return-to-islanders-lineup-tonight
  14. Reinhart with a goal in the subway series. Game tied at 2 near the end of the second.
  15. Me too. I'm not happy about this at all. Thought TSN has done an excellent job on NHL coverage right from their broadcasts through trade deadline day and coverage of free agency. I'm never impressed with Sportsnet. They better up their game big time. Friggen Rogers throwing their money around again....
  16. Agreed. Atleast with us bottoming out this season and hopefully next, we can add some quality to the quantity of picks we have. The future is bright. Albeit will take a few years as you mentioned. Under Patty I have alot more confidence in this rebuild.
  17. So a few of the top prospects put up some points over the weekend. Here's the rundown. Dal Colle - 2GP 1G 3A Bennett - 2GP 1G 2A Ekblad - 2GP 0G 2A Reinhart - 2GP 5G 0A Draisaitl - 2GP 1G 3A
  18. Another loss by vanek and the isles..... Still early but based on their play since the trade we may very well be getting their 2015 pick which is fine with me.
  19. Dont' ruin this for me Liger :P It'd be an interesting spot we would be in if that played out. Do we go Ekblad there who may even be the best player in the draft, or take another forward like Leon or Dal Colle, possibly trade the pick? I think Reinhart is the consensus #1 right now but with some of the flaws I've read it's not like it's him or nothing this draft. Agreed. Although the Oil have spoken about trading their pick if they can get a top Dman.
  20. Tank Nation rejoices! With the Oil win we're now 5 points clear of second last. That's a good thing right
  21. Sabres have been getting some help lately as far as Tank Nation goes. The teams right above them in the standings have gone on some mini winning streaks. Edmonton has won 2 in a row Florida has won 2 in a row Calgary picked up a point last night and won 2 in a row before that Philly has gone 5-1-2 in their last 8 Ny Isles have been bad lately but that's more than ok Columbus picks up a win last night. No, it's not too early to watch out of town games as they relate to the draft :P
  22. My guess is between 55 and 60 but I would certainly sign up for 50. That shoul be good enough for last and thus a top 2 pick.
