  1. Buffalo is reportedly getting goalie Devon Levi and next year’s first round pick in return.I thought they both looked really good, though Knight’s team did win the gold. Levi was no slouch in that tournament though.
  2. The addition of Levi makes our pipeline significantly stronger. You saw the Juniors last year though, right?
  3. Not ROR level bad, Levi looked great in WJC for Canada. Sam is an RFA and no way was he gonna resign. Still, I suspect there will be at least one more piece coming back. If KA likes Levi, that’s understandable as he looked really good and we all know the pressing need for that position.
  4. Paul Hamilton - Buffalo is reportedly getting goalie Devon Levi and next year’s first round pick in return.
  5. What the Pegulas have done with this once proud franchise has been a disgrace. It seems with their acquisition of the Bills, it’s possible that the Sabres are now second fiddle anyhow (NFL is much larger than the NHL). I am thankful for their development of the downtown waterfront area, and will not take that from them. But beyond that, it’s been a disgrace.
  6. He’s been doing the same with Eichel trades for potential trade partners. Those threads, including this one, are thought provoking and well done. No reason why this subject should be off limits IMO.
  7. I don’t hate him but I don’t like him. He was, and is a horrible captain, is selfish (exit interview), drops F bombs on podcasts where younger fans can hear, and wants to play for his hometown Bruins. Not to mention he is looking to bail out halfway through a 10 year contract. On a personal level there is not much to like. I do however give him credit for what he does for various charities and things of that nature. It’s not like the guys is a horrible person or something (though he does have significant flaws IMO), but will not miss him so long as we get fair value back.
  8. This is really scary. I was under the impression that if kids get sick, it’s really not that bad, and that adults are more at risk. My wife and I were vaccinated back in February/ March but the kids are not.
  9. Honestly, anything that is remotely optimistic I’m going to disagree with. It probably doesn’t seem like it but I’m constantly biting my tongue because I feel so pessimistic about our team. I don’t want to be “that guy”, but I’m afraid I have become that. Who knows, maybe we really are on the cusp of finally turning things around now? But I’ve just spent so much mental energy in putting my hope in draft picks that didn’t workout, prospects that were over hyped, free agents that under performed, and coach after failing coach.
  10. High skill and high ceiling but too many ifs. Would rather have a more reliable piece coming back. That trade could be brilliant of course but really no way to know how it would pan out. Way too many medical issues.
  11. Okay, so these Dreger tweets are definitely getting me excited..
  12. Just wait til he returns in another jersey, I don’t think he will receive a heroes welcome in Buffalo.
  13. You honestly don’t think that us being perennial cellar dwellers has anything to do with it? I’m rather convinced that Jack is simply finally tapping out because of how awful this organization is. The injury/ surgery spectacle is an easy way out while saving face. This is human nature; people do it with relationships, employment etc. Very few people simply shrug and admit that they want to leave a long term commitment for greener pastures because some people (such as myself) view that as a character flaw. Others of course don’t care (the YOLO crowd) but there are still some of us dinosaurs left.
  14. Not complaining, but is this benevolence or just another player wanting out? Either way, hope Seattle takes him as that would be amazing for cap space.
  15. He’s like the new guy at work that is fresh and actually happy to be there.
  16. After seeing analytics virtually destroy baseball, I struggle not to view it as a negative thing. I know that hockey is the polar opposite due to the speed of the game, but still.
  17. That was a bit dramatic, settle down. Teams write the contracts and thus are in more of a position of power. The contract writer is always in a position of power, that’s part of adult life.
  18. Agreed, and it’s a shame really. What’s even more perplexing is that there are those here who see nothing wrong with it. There was a time when breaking one’s own word was seen as a negative, particularly a written contract. If these players want to have a Walt Disney chase your dreams/ YOLO attitude, then they shouldn’t be signing 10 year contracts.
  19. Fair point, but my point still stands as chasing a cup at all costs is still a selfish act. Where we differ is whether or not a player should be able to do it without being labeled as selfish.
  20. If Eichel has done no wrong here then logically we can all bail on the Buffalo Sabres too. We can all pick new teams to root for according to this logic. Yet we would rightfully balk if a fan did that, but we defend players who bail? Why are we held to a higher standard when we’re being loyal to the crest for free? As society’s moral fabric erodes as does our expectations of athletes apparently.
  21. You’re probably right because if KA screws up the Eichel trade he is toast. It’s safer for KA to hold out.
