I watched him play. Constantly out of position. Was dicking around at center ice when bob kelly scored the cup clinching goal for philly, might have helped being in position . Everyone loved him so they overlooked his many mistakes. Please tell me you aren't comparing him to Orr and Park, because it sounds like you are. God or his wife, both of them messed him up.

Then God told him to stop fighting and like Punch said later, 'I should have traded him years ago'. He went from big, tough strong, to the most overrated, most out of position defenseman around. As you can tell, I didn't like him. Couldn't stand him in the later years as Sabre.

Is it really working? Or working enough. You point out our needs and the goaltending one is huge. We seem to be waiting on a college goalie to save the day. All eggs in one basket. That's pretty scary. Obviously the skill positions are looking really positive and we have some solid D, but it's probably time to make a couple significant trades.

Are The Sabres A Dark Horse Contender for Jakob Chychrun?

Pretty sure he was on the block last season before his injury. -
How does that translate into wins and losses?
-
What about the other players on the ice with him? Do they factor into this?

I don't think Johnson would be considered an above average prospect, also his UFA status is a big value killer. He's not worth much at all. -

What makes you say that? They're doing the same thing the Sabres are, stocking up draft picks/players. We have basically the same record as they do and we're supposed to be a year or 2 ahead of them. They are doing exactly what we are doing, just a little ahead of schedule compared to us. Even if the Yotes held on to him a couple years, he'll have great value if his game goes where expected. Look what we got for Risto, he'll bring in a lot more than that. -
Seems like a fun atmosphere. I'll try to get tickets when the Sabres are out here. One player on the Jets said it was the best ice surface in the league.

Other than Comrie, not sure how you paint a good picture on the defensive play in the 3rd period. We have up 23? shots, McDavid missed the net many times in close, which was lucky for us, we couldn't do much at all the entire 3rd period. It's surprising that we held on.

Oilers had numerous great scoring opportunities in the 3rd, Kane had a bunch in close, McDavid had a few, Draisatl had one pretty much on the goalline. If that was the strategy is was a bad decision.
-
They had a good first period, excellent 2nd period and were totally dominated in the 3rd.

He's gonna need to score all those because we have quite a few players that are on pace for 0 goals. 54 win pace too- all in regulation.

So you'll be adding to those 67 comments with Tage bashing all season? How fun. -

Former Sabres Head Coach Joe Crozier Has Passed at Age 93

Joe Crozier was/is one of my all-time favorite Sabres. The 72-73 season was a significant year for the Sabres , the first to make the playoffs and the amazing OT winner by Robert in game 5 of the playoffs in the Forum. He instilled the fire and passion into the team that eventually made it to the finals under Floyd Smith. In my opinion he's one the most important members of this franchise for those early years he was part of the organization. I had the opportunity to meet him some years back and his enthusiasm in talking hockey was electric. It was really a big deal for me and a great memory. He had a huge Sabres banner in front of his house during our last 'glory years' in the early 2000's, he was always a big fan and lived in Buffalo for decades. Not sure why this thread isn't getting more action, maybe many here are too young to remember him, honestly I was expecting a big thread and am a bit disappointed in the lack of reaction. -
Best value out there.
