Toffoli also going back to his old, long time coach.

I think that you should re-examine the evidence of that. In my opinion, it doesn’t exist.

Obviously super late here, but Morant is something else. He reminds me of early Kobe or early MJ. A guy who can just get incredibly air and is unafraid to attack the areas around the basket, but is also physically underdeveloped, making you fear for his safety at times.

They are both just awful jerseys. If you want to make an ugly jersey, fine, it’s a stylistic choice, but you have to be absolutely clueless to make a jersey with numbers that are extremely difficult to read. Nice that you think it looks good or whatever, but no one can tell who anyone is out there because the numbers are almost unreadable. Inexcusable. Both Canada and USA suffer from this.

Yes, seems dumb. I don’t get why guys try to punch each other in the head when they are both wearing helmets with visors too.

Many of these guys are players for the China based KHL team. Apparently simply playing hockey in China for some time is enough to qualify you for the Chinese Olympic Team.

First of all, score effects are a thing that affects all teams, so if you bring ups this same chart for any team, you will see differences depending on the score of the game. So, first question is how far outside of the norm are these numbers? I don’t have any context. With that being said, based on what I’ve watched this season, I would suspect that they are in fact fairly extreme. I’ve seen a team that tries hard consistently but is young, has below average talent, and often doesn’t execute well. I agree with what some others have said. Many teams seem to go into games against Buffalo hoping that they can win while only giving 85%, either by capitalizing on youthful mistakes or by scoring bad goals on bad goalies. Buffalo is sometimes able to outplay these teams by giving 100% vs their 85%. However, if Buffalo gets ahead, the other team turns it up from 85 to 100% and generally smokes them. (see, last night) I think the issue on display is that this team doesn’t execute well when really under pressure from the opposition. I don’t think that is surprising considering the age of the key players and the overall talent level. I believe that as more talented players filter in, and as all the top young players gain experience, this will improve.

As someone who plays tennis, the thought of consistently doing that is horrifying.

I don’t know about “dying to be a Sabre” specifically. Most draft eligibles are just “dying to be in the NHL” and I doubt many grew up as Sabres fans. Probably it’s more about whether a prospect is going to be a mentally mature, hard working, team first guy. I don’t think the organization is in a position where they can afford to take on guys who are “me first”, who need their ego coddled, or who don’t respond well to adversity. Buffalo needs to bring through a group of top players who are not only talented, but also mentally capable of joining a struggling team and contributing towards raising it up. Basically, guys with leadership skills in addition to talent.

Also, this. Buffalo looks to be keying in guys who are team 1st (team 2nd, and team 3rd). Judging afar, I’m not confident that Lambert fits into that.

He has made some strange decisions by jumping teams repeatedly. It seems that his Dad is extremely involved. Its a family dynamic thing that is difficult to judge from a distance. For a team to take him in the top-10, I think they would need to do their due diligence and come out confident in Brad Lambert, the person, being able to make it as a high level NHL player. He has the on ice skills to do it. Questions about what he is like between the ears.

Byfield is only 3 months older than Power. This doesn’t necessarily negate what you are saying, but it’s something to keep in mind. They are basically the same age.

Oh god, he isn’t the Assistant General Manager, he is the Assistant to the General Manager. I feel like there is a meme for this or something.

Kris Baker: possible Sabre college FA signings

Me imagining a goalie with a huge set of calipers in place of a stick. -
Regardless of where you are shooting from, the goalie being screened is going to increase the likelihood that the shot goes in. The original post you replied to said nothing about point shots.

Hmm, seems that staying in Sweden may have been a strategic miscalculation. Did Rosen predict that he would get more run in SHL? Maybe he should come over to the CHL?

Isn’t it unusual for a team to public announce who they have interviewed. They must be desperate to put out any news unrelated to the Beach story. Also, please let them hire this guy!
-
Regarding the bolded: Are you sure? I feel like that is incorrect.
-
Me too. I’d be interested in seeing the %’s for top 6/top 4/starting goalies. I’d guess that they lean more towards drafted players and further away from UFA.

The KHL isn’t going to preemptively cancel games because because of a war that might (but almost definitely won’t) happen. If Covid is raging over there, then they probably aren’t making any money on these regular season games, so they decided to go straight to the playoffs and be done with it. My opinion.

So 5’10” 148lbs? Sounds like old numbers. He was reported to be larger around draft time.

It’s nice, but realistically, what is he going to say when asked about Dahlin? Polite platitudes are the default.
