  1. Fascism and communism can potentially exist side by side. One is a leadership ideology, the other is an economic system.
  2. I don’t think we know much of it yet. Forwards- Tuch, Thompson, Cozens, and Skinner for sure. Probably Krebs, Quinn, and Mittelstadt. Maybe Olofsson and Peterka. Defense- Dahlin and Power for sure. Probably Jokiharju and Samuelsson. Maybe Bryson and Johnson. Goalies- uncertain.
  3. Hope Anderson is alright. No one likes to see that out there.
  4. Brian Campbell was good for a big hip check every few games.
  5. Nice check by Dahlin. No response from big tough Anderson.
  6. 4 shots in the first 18 mins? I think someone needs to light a fire under these guys at the intermission.
  7. I don’t think he will be moved. He is a respected veteran who always works hard and shows shows passion for the team. You never know though.
  8. I agree. The plan will be for UPL to be in Buffalo all season with some veterany type. They will sign a prospect (most likely Levi) to start or share time in Rochester.
  9. Wasn’t referring to your post specifically. I just read to the bottom of the thread and thought The Who thing was a directionless mess of non ideas. It’s ok, but that what I felt, so that’s what I wrote. No worries. I will going forward.
  10. There’s nothing good in this thread.
  11. What did he do?
  12. I’m not sure there will be a market for Butcher, and I’m not sure they will trade Bork. Could happen though. I agree that they probably have interest in bringing back Pysyk, but maybe they can work out a deal for him to chase a cup, but resign in the offseason. That would be nice.
  13. You can still front/rear load contracts some, but it doesn’t change the cap hits. The cap hit always stays constant each year of the contract. It’s the total salary divided by the years. So, taking your example, that contract would be $12M/3years. The cap hit would be $4M each of the 3 years.
  14. Oh yeah, they are definitely going to do that. Slow play his return. Start him off back in the AHL to get his feet under him. If he is doing well, bring him back up to the NHL for a few games. Then send him back down to get that AHL playoff experience. I didn’t realize that his ELC could slide again. Dahlin, Power, Jokiharju, Mittelstadt, and Krebs all in the same offseason? They better get some of those done in the 2023 offseason or it’s going to be very very very busy in 2024. Maybe they could get Dahlin done early.
  15. I guess that’s the beauty of being so bad. You can cut the top line, D pair, and starting goalie off of your roster and actually improve the following year.
  16. Botterill sort of undertook a rebuild, more of a retool, when he started, but it certainly has not been a continuous rebuild from Botterill through to today. They just traded their two best forwards, their top defenseman via useage, and lost their starting goalie in free agency. It was the end of something and the start of something else, whatever label you want to put on it. Give the new thing some time before you try to rush it.
  17. Ok, that’s just I difference in how we are defining the term. I was just defining finisher as goal scorer. You are defining it more as high level shooters. Skinner is certainly kind of an oddball case in how he scores. I honestly don’t understand what you are trying to say regarding Thompson. He wasn’t very productive in the past, but we need to evaluate what he is going forward. I see a guy who is a well above average shooter and a much better goal scorer than a setup guy.
  18. I was placing forwards into one of three buckets, finisher, playmaker, or even mix between the two. So yes I’m clearly dealing in these three absolutes. I do fully understand that finishers still have the ability to make a good pass.
  19. If Skinner isn’t a finisher then he is nothing. He isn’t a playmaker. If Olofsson isn’t a finisher then he is nothing. He isn’t a playmaker. Hard disagree on Thompson, I think he definitely is much more of a finisher than a playmaker. That’s why he has produced more goals than assists almost every season at every level throughout his career. Peterka I put in 50/50. I don’t watch Rochester. Put him where you like.
  20. I think it’s obvious that Dahlin’s hit was a form of retaliation. He was pissed and he doesn’t deliver hits like that very often. I think it was fine, I was concerned about contact with the head originally, but after rewatching I don’t think it was bad. I was glad to see push back from Dahlin. I like physical play. I don’t like to see guys whacking each other with sticks, that’s not hockey to me. How that became an allowed part of the game is beyond me. And I don’t like to see guys get their brains damaged. Beyond that, hit on as far as I’m concerned.
  21. You guys realize that they started a rebuild 6 months ago, right? It might not be time to push in the chips just yet. I don’t see them adding any significant veteran players this offseason. Maybe a goalie, maybe a RD. I have an extremely tough time envisioning anything more than that, and I doubt they would really be high level players. I know that they have been bad for a long time, but you have to view the team in terms of where they are right now.
  22. This is kind of interesting. I have a different viewpoint. I don’t think the Sabres have a more playmakers than finishers. I think if anything it’s the opposite. Playmakers: Krebs 50/50: Tuch Cozens Mittelstadt Peterka? (Maybe a finisher?) Finishers: Skinner Thompson Olofsson Quinn
  23. move a long little doggie you say?
  24. Yeah, that could definitely be it.
  25. This turn of phrase needs more workshopping.
