  1. Yeah, probably that too. It’s ok, sometimes hot takes can bring a lot of heat. Hey hey hey. Watch your mouth. Them is fightin’ words.
  2. It would be funnier if it was two brothers both named John Tavares.
  3. Yeah, I’ve been told he is the greatest lacrosse player in recent history. I just don’t think many people care about pro lacrosse at all. It’s what, the 10th or 11th most popular pro sport in the US? football, basketball, baseball, hockey, soccer, tennis, nascar, F1, golf, MMA, boxing?, horse racing?, bowling?, cricket?
  4. BOILING HOT TAKE UPDATE: I’m not from and have never lived in western New York. I’m also not someone who has ever followed lacrosse.
  5. He is still so young. We have only seen his age 19 and 20 seasons in the NHL. For comparison, he is just 7 months older than Jack Quinn, yet we have seen so much more of him at the NHL level. I’m expecting continued improvement over his age 21 and 22 seasons and I think by then he will have established himself as a 20+ goal 50+ point C who is strong defensively. That’s a top-6 C.
  6. He is only 22. He is definitely still a prospect, just not a very good one.
  7. BOILING HOT TAKE: If he wasn’t uncle of an NHL star with the same name, almost no one would care.
  8. If Quinn is bad enough that he gets sent down, yeah, I won’t like that. Its just that it’s been 25 years since a player 20 or younger has scored at such a high rate in the AHL, and it’s only been accomplished a couple times ever. Is there anything in particular about Quinn that makes you feel pessimistic about how everything will translate to the NHL? EDIT: I read through the rest of the thread. You basically explained it.
  9. I don’t understand those team groupings. Is Buffalo better than Toronto, Tampa and Florida? Nope. Better than Montreal? Almost definitely. Better than Ottawa, Boston or Detroit. Maybe.
  10. Why do you think he will only play half a season? Will he play so poorly that he is sent down? Or you think he will start the season in the AHL? Personally I think he gets a full season in the NHL.
  11. Stuff like that happens in the CHL. NHL teams have some pull with how drafted prospects are used and even whether or not they are traded. But I don’t think it’s like that in the SHL. At least I don’t remember hearing of it happening.
  12. Yeah, sure, I can appreciate the mindset of only caring about stuff that actually happens. I guess I was just making a point with regards to the mindset of Adams and what sort of things he’s trying to do. Though I’d also say that it’s pretty clear that the Sabres don’t want spend TOO much money on player salary this season. Ive nothing to say about the second point. I didn’t and wouldn’t say that.
  13. Sabres don’t get to decide which SHL league he plays in. That is up to his SHL organization. The SHL is a top tier league where winning is the business. If you don’t win, they literally kick you out of the league. The AHL is a development league. I think they will just play him in the AHL. It’s honestly what the league is there for.
  14. I kind of doubt that. I think it’s more likely that he does get a regular shift in Rochester, even if he is kind of a detriment for the first half of the season.
  15. Also, not every response to me needs to be accompanied by a “witty” jab. You and LGR can trade insults back and forth if you like, but I don’t expect to be talked down to as well just because I’m discussing the same topic. If you were talking to me in person I doubt you would take on this “tone”.
  16. I was responding to you saying that the you wish the Sabres would be creative enough to make a trade like the Monahan trade where they acquire assets for cap space. I was presenting an example of something very similar that the Sabres, and trade partner, agreed to, but was vetoed by the player. I presented this as evidence that Adams is not against doing such things. In this particular example, yes, it did not happen because the player did not want to be in Buffalo. I’m sure Adams, and the Pierre Dorian were aware on the 10 team NTC, otherwise they would not have wasted their time negotiating a deal. Not sure on the exact mechanics of Murray’s particular NTC, or if the Sens were trying to get him to waive it, or what was going on with that.
  17. Crazy terrifying story. Hope that she recovers without any setbacks.
  18. In all fairness, I’m the one who said to him that it was significant draft asset, which I feel moving from 16 to 7 is.
  19. Matt Murray and #7 OA for #16 OA. I believe that’s what it was. It was agreed to by both teams but Murray nixed it.
  20. No, you are thinking of the 4th round big Quebec kid Olivier Nadeau. Kozak is the 7th round WHL kid. He is slightly undersized at 5’11” and a little thin, but he popped in the WHL last season after being drafted. He is pretty fast, a little feisty and decently skilled. Looks like a really good 7th round pick likely to be an AHL player at least. He is eligible to play in the AHL this coming season.
  21. It maybe noteworthy news and easy to find the thread, but what invariably happens when a thread that was abandoned 6 years ago gets resurrected is that people click into it and begin quote replying to things that people wrote 6 years ago, as you see happening now in this thread. I think it’s generally a better practice to find a more current location.
  22. You are quoting something written 6 years ago. Hodgkin has an autoimmune disease that was causing him shortness of breath, heart arrhythmia, and blackouts. I’m not sure if it’s possible to be a hard working professional athlete while going through that.
  23. Nice. Wonder if he’ll join the Amerks for this upcoming season.
  24. What would you say if I told you that pretty recently, the Sabres actually agreed to a trade to acquire a player and significant draft capital in exchange for only money?
