Maybe not. They were not 2-tier however. Unless you just meant that figuratively. EPL football is a much much bigger business than NHL hockey though. I’m not positive what team presidents make.
-
Just a note, and I’m def not saying Ralph is good, but......... Its not like he couldn’t get a job previously. He had a job that was higher level and probably higher paying than that NHL head coach.
-
I also am not mad anymore. I barely register any emotion regarding this team.
-
I don’t even like saying this, but I don’t think they should fire Krueger right now.

If you tell the people what their jobs are when you hire them, there is no confusion. By all accounts Hextall is making the day to day hockey decisions. Burke’s role is more executive management type stuff. Managing the ownership communications and directives, and figuring out how to apply that throughout the organization. As well as consulting on hockey decisions, and various PR type stuff. Basically freeing up Hextall to focus on hockey. I don’t need my GM dealing with preparing for, attending, and following up on hour long meetings with the owner 3-4 times per week. And I do believe that it the level of interaction that the Pegulas require.

Yes. TrPM with all EN goals removed would be more representative.
-
Instead Buffalo will probably be hiring Hextall’s assistant GMs for the next decade.

They seem like fairly coherent arguments being raised. Not any more a rant than what you are posting. That’s just me though.

Disagree. There are a lot of things that impact the psyche more than sports. Also, yes, minority is less than 50%. Vast minority is much less than that. I wasn’t even talking about the country as a whole though. Just on this board, the vast majority were disagreeing with the importance placed on getting NHL players vaccinated.

Considering the actual contract, the buyout was not that crazy. Sabres actually end up paying him less over the 17 years of the contract + buyout than they would have over the 10 years of the contract. Its just the length of the buyout which is ridiculously long, 14 years! The contract got a lot of attention because of its length and because it made Ehrhoff the top paid D in the league for a year or two. That and the fact that it didn’t turn out well at all. Ehrhoff and Leino were supposed to be the couple pieces added to the core after Briere/Drury left that could get the team over the hump. Both ended up being very negative value deals for Buffalo.
-
Technically does not qualify because the contract was signed 2011, but, WOW, that buyout length is crazy.

Don’t forget the part where he ran from the scene on foot, lol.

David Krejci, Nick Ritchie, Craig Smith, Charlie Coyle, Jake DeBrusk is the bulk of their middle 6. And that’s behind one of the top 5 lines in the league. That’s not just a bunch of muckers. They are grinding, Bruins type player but they have middle 6 level offensive talented too.
-
When Mittelstadt was drafted, they didn’t need a 2nd line C. That was a full year before O’Reilly was traded.
-
I think that you are just in the vast minority with the amount of importance you place on sports/hockey as an essential mental outlet.
-
This is a good point. @pi2000 can we get a TRPM sans EN goals? Then TRPM would reign as the fanciest of stats.
-
Well, it’s better than plus/minus.
-
This can’t possibly be true. Vancouver has the assets to acquire Sam Bennet. They may not want to pay what Calgary is asking, but of course they have the assets to.
-
I feel this is the case with a lot of the additional, debatable information that is thrown at people day to day. Pining for simpler times perhaps.

The answer to this very specific question you ask is yes. I would be fine with that. You are correct that there is a certain amount of vaccine “waste” that happens. I would be happy with anyone who can getting those vaccines, preferably someone in a high risk group though. My question to you is: is this scenario that you present, of NHL teams canvassing pharmacies for leftover doses, a real life proposal? Or is it just an idea that you have had? I ask because I feel like it is not realistic. I suppose it may be feasible, however, it seems unlikely for a large corporation. I would think that if the NHL is going to assist their players in getting vaccinated, it would be an organized program with a controlled schedule, not done piecemeal from leftover vaccines. So, in short, I would be fine with your very specific proposal, but that goes for just about anyone else in addition to NHL players, however I find it unlikely to occur.

I would say that the segment of the population represented here on this forum is a good cross section of those who enjoy hockey the most. The fact that only a small percentage of THIS group support giving preferential vaccine treatment to hockey entertainers, I think, tells you everything you need to know.
