  1. I’m curious to see how much he sustains and whether scouts think he has taken a real step up in skill/talent. He had 8 point is his first 2 games. He hasn’t been as impressive after that, so I’m inclined to think it’s a little fluky. Though he is still very good. Just more of a nice 5-10 range type of good, not a maybe he should go 1-5 range type of good.
  2. They didn’t really say that. Maybe early in the season, but not by draft time. Its silly to try to decide, right now, where he should play next season. Not enough information. I would say normal development path would be to put him in the AHL for about half a season and then see where things stand after that. Hopefully get him some NHL time at some point. With prospects, I don’t think it’s a good idea to make decisions based of small sample sizes. Maybe a kid looks good in 5-10 AHL games (or even NHL games!), but that doesn’t mean that he has the physical maturity, mental maturity, self confidence, or depth of skill set to be successful in the NHL over the course of a 82 game season.
  3. If he isn’t a shithead, there’s no harm in grabbing him. If other UFAs are traded, they will need some bodies.
  4. Personally, it’s not that I blame Jack or hold him responsible for not winning. I know the organization is messed up. For me it’s mainly two things: (1) During Jack’s time here, there have not really been any positive moments to look back fondly on. There is no feeling that “without Jack the team never would have been able to do.......”. Jack just does not have any sentimental value or any emotional currency built up. He hasn’t really meant anything to me. There is no emotional connection. (2) As time goes on it has appeared more and more likely that the Jack-Sabres relationship will end badly with a trade. I think many have come to expect it, at some point, and are psychologically prepared for it.
  5. For me, it’s less salary, and more term that is terrifying. Goalies are super important, but also their performance is super hard to project over the course of a few years. So, from my point of view, it’s not that I’m unwilling to pay for quality goaltending, it’s that you very often do not actually get the goaltending that you are paying for.
  6. My emotional reaction. Shock, a rush of excitement, but not disappointment.
  7. On the one hand I agree with you, but on the other hand, I think a team needs more leadership than just the guy wearing the C, so I hate to pin it on Eichel, even if he shouldn’t really be the captain.
  8. It seems that RK deployed the unusual pairing of being incredibly stubborn, while also not insisting that the players work hard. He combined this with a slew of corporate jargon speech patterns. The results were not great.
  9. Do a GM thing and acquire a better player. I’m guessing.
  10. Only question is if it’s a 30min lunch or if you get a whole hour. Seriously though, I don’t know the exact wording of the rule, but the result is that teams don’t give other teams picks in exchange for non-player employees.
  11. I’d say that’s reasonable actually. Although I would always try my best to call anyone by the pronouns they wish to be used, I don’t think I’ll be asking everyone that I interact with what their pronouns are at the start of a conversation. Is that what the tweet was implying that everyone should do? It kind of seems like it, no?
  12. I get the comparison, but he’s better than Myers.
  13. They are actually going to win. Maybe they will go on a lossless streak this time.
  14. Traded twice. He has finished in the top 15 in Norris voting 4 consecutive years (top 10 twice) and will again this season. He has played about 23 mins for one of the best teams in the league over the past two years. 67 points in his past 81 games. I think he is good.
  15. I was worried about the same thing, but people who saw the play said it looked like an arm or shoulder thing. Then Granato said definitively that it wasn’t season ending and that it was a matter of how much pain it was causing Cozens that would determine when he would be back, so I’m not worried that it’s a brain injury now.
  16. If they weren’t producing enough with Jack skating with them, they aren’t going to be more productive without him.
  17. This is sad to hear, although I think we all know that it happens. I hope that you never feel targeted here. While we can all get a little riled up from time to time, this is just hockey after all and we shouldn’t take ourselves too terribly seriously when discussing it. This is all for good fun.
  18. When the Sabres lose 18 in a row, every thread is a referendum on the tank.
  19. Isn’t that the only relevant question when discussing whether the tank was a good idea?
  20. This is hilarious. To pretend that anyone here has a responsibility to do anything beyond give their opinion on any topic is beyond comprehension, to put it politely. Connor Bedard is performing generationally. Maybe he will end up sucking in the NHL, but he is absolutely killing it right now. He is producing at a rate nearly double that of Connor McDavid in their D-2 seasons.
  21. @LGR4GM Seems to be a fundamental misunderstanding of what it is that you do here. If you don’t straighten up, I’m going to stop mailing out your checks.
  22. Unfortunately, yes. Players with a NMC are required to be protected.
  23. But at what cost? At what cost?
