Adams should tell the other GMs this as evidence of why Hall is worth at least one 1st! Very persuasive.
-
Nope. Not for me. At one point I may have held some of this emotional investment in Eichel as the prize of the tank, but years of losing has freed me of any such attachment. Do what’s best for the team. I don’t care about Eichel. This line of thought holds no appeal to me.

I don’t ascribed to the 1st rounder or nothing for Hall school of thought. If Hall had been good, then sure. He hasn’t really even been good, why are some so sure that he is worth it? I think I would do something like two 2nds, or a 2nd and a prospect, maybe even a 2nd and a 3rd, the market is what it is.

Montour giveth, and he giveth to the other team too.

Dahlin looks like a completely different player. Its like a switch was flipped. I thought he would take some time to get his confidence back get back to his style of play, but nope, it was pretty much immediate.

(1) No one is Bobby Orr. Don’t know why that is a knock against Dahlin. (2) I call BS on the bolded. I think if you go look at defensemen development curves, you will see lots and lots of bumps in the road ages 18-23ish, even for the Norris level players. I believe that Dahlin will get there. @dudacek said it perfect

Never said that they should. For me, it depends on the specifics of the trade. Never said they should. For me it depends on the specifics of the trade.

I think you are right. If the Sabres were winning we wouldn’t hear stuff like this. I have listened to her podcast for years and I’ve never heard her discuss being a fan of an NHL team. Everyone says working inside the NHL kills your fandom. If she said it for clicks/subs it was pretty poor marketing. A 30 second comment buried 42 mins into a 1 hr podcast without any mention of it in the title or description. Did you listen to the segment? My point in mentioning this was not to say that Eichel is a jerk, that any of the perceptions she mentioned are true, or that the Sabres should trade Eichel. Im just sharing it because if there is that negative perception widely held within the league, it could affect trade value. Even if it’s not really true, the fact that many think it’s kind of true is enough. Personally, I do not agree that the Sabres must hold Eichel at all costs. He is a very talented player, but he does not have the type of accomplishments that make him untouchable, or give me the emotional attachment to him that would devastate me if he were to be moved. Nothing in my heart binds Eichel and the Sabres’ fortunes together. His value to me is purely in his on ice skills. Those are hard to replace, so it’s very hard to trade him, but not impossible.
-
Truth. The fact that the Sabres drafted poorly for a long time is substantial as hell.
-
Yeah, we know.
-
I don’t see why that would be the case. Rachel Dorrie has worked in the the league and I don’t know why she would make things up about precipitation’s that some people have.

I was just listening to the most recent episode of The Staff and Graph Podcast and they spoke of some feelings around the league that Eichel is a guy with some character concerns, in that he is kind of hard to deal with day to day and some people would say that he might not be a guy you can win with as the centerpiece of a team. They brought this up in regards to talks about Eichel trade proposals and that he may not fetch as much around the league as you might think. Link to episode: Go to about 43:00 mark. https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-staff-graph-podcast/id1455926874?i=1000515931841

When he left Carolina and joined Buffalo, he got an improved title, from goalie coach to assistant coach, and I would assume a raise along with it.
-
They have Cole Caufield coming in too. I hear his shortness/60 stats are off the charts. Perfect Gallagher replacement.

Will McCabe be back next season? This is a lineup at some undetermined point in the future. It prominently features 3 guys with about 25 NHL games between them. McCabe and Risto are assumed to have moved on I think.

Ooh, very bold, but I see it as big money for a mostly redundant skill set. Dahlin is running the PP, with Joki and Bryson also capable there. I want to give Dahlin a steady, responsible partner and turn him loose. I think Adam Larson or David Savard on a more modest contract would be a better fit.
-
Yeah, but LD-RD issues. 2022-23 season: Dahlin-Borgen Samuelsson-Jokiharju Bryson-(insert solid vet RD)
-
I kind of agree. I think Bryson needs that guy too though.
-
He really needs to get into some games. He is 23, was a star in Liiga and has been good in Rochester. He needs a taste, if for no other reason than to show him what the NHL is like.
-
I think that Buffalo really needs to move Montour. There are teams out there who need a D (FLA, CAR), and Montour isn’t coming back. And Buffalo definitely could move another RD either at the deadline or offseason. Jokiharju and Borgen need to play, and Risto and Miller have a year left each. Buffalo really should resign Ullmark. I have a hard time moving on from him, but also a hard time giving goalies too much term. I also feel like unless Ullmark flat out says that he wants to move on, you should probably just keep him through the trade deadline. Hall needs to go of course. I think Hall and Montour will go for picks, and that’s it.

Firstly, I dispute that Ovechkin does not carry the puck into the offensive zone often. I think plenty of wingers carry the puck through the neutral zone and make a lot of zone entries. Here some who really do it a lot. Pasternak Gaudreau Kane Panarin Duclair Meier Schwartz Nylander JT Miller Pacioretty Ovechkin Ehlers K Connor Here is a site that has actual data on this. Reinhart has probably been doing it more than you think. https://oilersnation.com/2020/09/14/best-nhl-forwards-at-carrying-the-puck-into-offensive-zone/
