I’m very interested to see how Adams and co. handle the RFA contracts of Dahlin, Mitts, Jokiharju, and even Asplund. With Thompson, he clearly made a bet on player development. Will he continue that with these guys? It’s a risk, but without making these bets a team doesn’t end up with many bargain contracts. Will we see an 8 year $6-7M deal for Dahlin? A 4-5 year $3-4M deal for Mitts or $2-3M for Joki? 3-4 years at $1.5M for Asplund? I’m absolutely in favor or making some longer term bets like this.

There is a difference between them, in that they are different types of players. Zegras with higher offensive upside, Rossi more of an all around game. At the time they were drafted they were probably viewed as similar quality of prospects, but right now Zegras has definitely proven more at higher levels. At this moment I’d say Zegras is a more valuable asset. I agree that Wild could be a very good trade partner if they truly have the interest.

I hear you, and I think you are generally correct. Only if they really strongly want Power and also know Buffalo is shopping #1 to multiple teams does it become a thing. I don’t think any of that is happening.

The other side of the coin is what Seattle really wants Power. They can trade up to get him, or sit tight and watch the ducks or devils trade up to grab him. It’s not just Buffalo selecting him that Seattle would need to worry about.

The downside of a Rangers package is of course no good C prospect. A package of Schneider, Georgiev, Chytil, Kratsov, and maybe a 1st/2nd doesn’t feel great, but maybe could be ok.
