Pick #14 (13th player): LW/RW Isak Rosen (SHL)
Curt replied to GASabresIUFAN's topic in The Aud Club
When did you weigh him last? There was no draft combine to get current info like this. Maybe he’s put on 15 pounds of good weight since he was last officially weighed, for example. -
I agree. Also, Rosen was ranked at 18 on McKenzie’s final scout survey board, so it’s not even like at 13 he was a big reach vs general scouting opinion.
-
Power and Rosen huh? Not who I would have gone with in either case, but it’s not so bad. People said this draft is kind of a crap shoot. Rosen was often ranked in the 20-25 range it seems. I’m fine with it really. It’s a high upside swing. This guy has the potential to be a dynamic offensive weapon. Everyone needs to understand that he was playing small minutes in an AHL quality league as a 17 year old. If he had been playing in a junior league, he would have lit it up.

Raises hand.

It’s ESPN pumping their new product.
-
And they said this wasn’t a great draft.
-
This is hilarious Seriously, have you been to Times Square?
-
Would definitely be better off ignoring everything Dreger says.
-
I’m not saying they are going to suck or even that they will miss the playoffs. I’m just saying they won’t be a true cup contender.
-
We are talking about Boston specifically and I don’t think they have enough guys to pass the torch to to remain contenders. It’s not a ridiculous position that I’m staking out here. Once Bergeron, Krejc, and Rask are gone or ineffective. They will no longer be contenders for a cup. They don’t have the up and coming offensive players.
-
The idea that you will probably take a step back when most of your good players approach 40 years old is not a misnomer though.
-
Welcome! Welcome!

Wow. You might be the smartest person here.

A bunch of their very good players are very old. They are going to get worse. The organization isn’t going to become a dumpster fire, but they won’t be contenders much longer. I think is what everyone is saying. To put it in your verbiage, they are about to be handling a down cycle.

Do you think a team will trade a player as good or close to as good as Risto with more term and reasonable cap hit in exchange for him?
-
My “perfect” schedule setup: -16 vs west teams (1 each, home or away, alternating yearly) -24 vs other eastern division (3 each, alternating between 2 and 1 home/away yearly) -42 vs your division (6 each, 3 home 3 away)
-
Except the trade isn’t Risto for maybe Risto. It’s 1 season of Risto for many seasons of maybe Risto. You think they should flip him at the deadline instead?
-
You are probably in the majority. It doesn’t bother me. I wish the schedules were a little more unbalanced and they played teams in division/conference more often. I’m probably weird though.
-
Oh, I thought it actually did create some bad blood type scenarios.
