  1. Looks like at least some type of minor changes are coming to the scouting department this week. 22. It sounds like the Sabres are making some scouting changes. At the very least a shuffling, and then we see about external additions. Could be news on the assistant-GM front (Jason Karmanos very much a contender) this week.
  2. That was a strange game. The Sabres looked like 4 or 5 different teams at different points in the game. There was some good stuff going on in that game, too. Nice to see us come back to tie a game with a 2 point deficit, for example. But as a rule, it's a mess everywhere and my God we have a long way to go. I thought Tokarski did a great job all things being equal.
  3. Rangers are playing good hockey as of late; they have some momentum going right now. I think it will be more of the same from the Sabres, but we'll find out soon enough. No Eakin and Okposo is a huge boost.
  4. It is not really known right now if being fully vaccinated is the same thing as not being able to transfer COVID. This is a bad idea, and another reason for people to stay home.
  5. A 6th round pick in the NHL is basically nothing, almost always. But as you say, there are exceptions. It's basically currency to be bundled with other forms of currency, so in that sense, it can have some value.
  6. Let's just hope this doesn't result in another missed fortnight of hockey. I would like to see us play that game on Monday against the Rangers.
  7. MODO: there is an enormous amount of work to be done around here, including completely rebuilding and re-imagining an entire organization on multiple levels! It will take years to get it all turned around, assuming they make all the right choices and go about their work in the correct manner! For now, we have to hope that Adams isn't completely overwhelmed by his job duties. He should be overwhelmed. He doesn't have anywhere near the right amount of experience to weather this storm, especially alone! It sounds like they are going to get an assistant GM in here to help him. That's a really good start, but again, it has to be a GOOD HIRE. Second, they need to hire the RIGHT HC, not the wrong one. This group doesn't need an up and coming question mark from the college ranks. We need a PROVEN NHL HC with experience and a record of WINNING. Will they get that decision right? We'll find out. Lastly, they need to get the upcoming trade deadline RIGHT. There should be a lot of movement off the team, while retaining the right players as well. None of the really big names should go just now. That's a TON on their plate. Let's see how it goes. In the meantime, try to enjoy the games. It's all about the games. This is a hockey team after all!
  8. So his concussion symptoms have finally subsided long enough to get back on the ice. That was a while! Need to keep an eye on him going forward with head trauma.
  9. Looks like they are getting ready to move one of our goalies. Probably JJ, as incredible as it is to suggest someone would want him. There's been talk that Colorado is interested in him.
  10. The weird thing is the shot was just sort of a wrist shot dump in attempt, and didn't look all that bad. Shot around the red line and hit the player near the blue line. I guess he died in intensive care at the hospital. A real tragedy. 😢
  11. My complaint is the Sabres "goal song" which I thought was dead but then they played it when we scored tonight. Can we please get rid of that garbage? Do we have to listen to it forever? How about a new one? How about none at all?
  12. Just watched the replay of the Reinhart miss 3 times and I'm pretty sure no one's stick touched the puck. The puck was bouncing/rolling and I think he caught it on end just as he shot it, while also trying to roof it at the same time.
  13. Sabres have one (1) goal for in Hutton's last three combined starts! Are goals important?
  14. Watched the NESN coverage of the game tonight. Jack Edwards: "The Sabres are now on their fourth 5-year plan in the last 6 years". He was merciless on Skinner in terms of near zero production in exchange for $9 million. Hell, they were pretty hard on Eichel, even if he didn't play and is a Bostonian! We have some enormous negative inertia to overcome around here.
  15. It never felt like the team quit on Krueger to me, simply b/c all the players were very supportive of him in their interviews and no one wanted to go near suggesting the coach was the issue. And yet their play always *did* suggest they were quitting on the HC! This team is not nearly as good as Sabres fans think it is "on paper". It is also dinged up right now too.
  16. I found it really strange and depressing how utterly silent the crowd was tonight. There was a bit of cheering when we scored our goal. Otherwise, the crowd was just silent. Hopefully it is much more vocal on Saturday.
  17. Let it go! We're done with that guy now, and you aren't going to see him anywhere near an NHL bench ever again. Enjoy the moment!
  18. Analytics is not rubbish; it can be applied to all sports, and relying on it in connection with lots of other things is much better than ignoring it entirely. I will guarantee the Sabres would be a much better team right now if all organizational and coaching decisions were driven *solely* by analytics over the last 3 or 4 years.
  19. Just listened to Kevin's segment. For me, the most relevant part was when he was talking about Gronk and Brady down in Tampa. Brady and Gronk were the pros who came from a winning culture and know how to win. Tampa's attitude was "show us what to do; what do you need; how can we win a championship?" Weekes is basically saying the organization was smart enough to defer to the champions. Is any of that going on in Buffalo right now? The Sabres should be filling their ranks with experienced, respected NHLers who have achieved success at the NHL level. And then the organization should do what they say. Weekes' comment about myopic, almost sentimental thinking in the Sabres organization also hits home. Pegula needs to step back and try to gain some objectivity with what he is doing. It's going to be tough! I just don't think he is the right guy to ever be a good owner. Maybe he can learn, or maybe he will decide to sell the team. That's my hope.
  20. You know, I have had a very similar reaction to him especially since he became a Sabre. He's doing the Ron Duguay look, 35 years later, only he can't pull it off. The addition of a helmet to that hair just looks idiotic.
  21. Looks like the game will be played. In situations like this, I think it's safe to assume the game will always be played, until you hear otherwise.
