  1. No, and he's not going to. In a few days it will start to sink in. Pegula will not pay money to improve the coaching situation. That's the world we are living in now.
  2. Melodie Martin is wearing and makes reference to the cap at the start of this recent podcast.
  3. The weird thing is there are allegedly going to be @ 2,000 fans in the building starting March 20th! At some point, fairly soon, said fans will be booing this team off the ice--regularly. That should be a great look for the franchise around the league, on top of everything that has transpired thus far.
  4. If Krueger is destined to remain HC for this year and maybe even into next, that opens the door for these idiots to ship out Eichel and/or Reinhart while retaining Krueger as the coach. That is unthinkable! So help me, if they move one of these guys before getting a real HC in here....
  5. It sounds like the rumors that Jack is seeking a second opinion are valid; that seemed to jibe with what Ralph said at the post game PC, along with "at least 1 week". Why is Jack getting a second opinion? Because the first opinion is telling him he needs surgery and that would mean shutting the season down, so that's a big deal. So now Jack is flying to location X to see a specialist in the relevant area. Assuming that doctor agrees with first doctor and recommends surgery, Jack's season will be done. I'll be very surprised if that is not how this plays out. And in the meantime, Ralph Krueger will remain HC of the team! We need to inject a lot more comedy around here; all we are going to have left, fairly shortly, is our sense of humor.
  6. This sort of thing is what Russ Brandon was paid to do with the Bills for years and years. Find clever new narratives and angles to convince the fanbase that this year was going to be the year when the ***** show turned around. I'm not surprised they think they need someone to work at this. It's pretty clear they are done spending money. It's going to get worse before it gets better. I continue to hope Pegula simply sells the team. It's the easiest path to success for the fanbase.
  7. Terry Pegula thought the acquisition of Hall was enough to make us a Cup contender this year! LMFAO! Can we please fire him too?!
  8. I totally agree he will be here for the balance of the season, and absolutely, there is a solid shot he starts next season too. We have @ $6 million tied up in his right now for the rest of this season and next, and Pegula is *not* going to eat his K. This is who we are now; not even entering the legitimate coach search in order to save a few bucks. Anyone who spends a nickel on this franchise is out of their mind.
  9. The Caps definitely have a solid fanbase, though when we were last good (around 2006) there were pretty bad, and the arena was pretty empty. Back in those days, I used to be able to get the best seats in the house 15 minutes before game time at the arena window. But as the team improved, the fans came back more and more, and for many years now it's hard to get a ticket. I think it is this way in every market.
  10. We are all talking about Bruce Boudreau coming to Buffalo lately. Ironically, when he was coaching the Caps, you couldn't escape his commercials for Mercedes Benz of Alexandria on local DC TV either. I wonder how many HCs across the league are pitching for MBUSA.
  11. I don't see that happening at all. I absolutely think there is a great chance Ralph remains for the season. In fact, I'm expecting it now.
  12. Staal is "open to a move". That's one way to put it. I think he is probably praying on his hands and knees each night asking to be delivered from this Sabres evil.
  13. If they can convince Gary Thorne to give up Orioles baseball and come back to hockey I'd be overjoyed.
  14. This is the thing! I get the feeling Ralph will *not* be fired tomorrow, even though that seems like a good time to do it, because the decision is not Adams' to make. It has to come from Pegula, and Pegula likes Ralph and the idea of saving $$$ by retaining him at least through this season, and maybe even into next.
  15. It's not a misogynist thing, it's a meddling sports owner thing. Terry and Kim are meddling owners of the absolute worst variety, and on top of it, neither is a knowledgable sports fan. It's the reason we have been garbage for a decade, and it is the only reason we could be garbage for a decade. The Bills have worked out for 2 reasons: Terry got lucky when he hired McDermott, and then McDermott doubled down by getting Beane in the door....and 2) Terry got the hell out of the way because he knows nothing about football and isn't a fan of the sport to the extent he is a hockey fan. Terry/Kim have never gotten out of the way in Sabreland and meddle in the team's business on a daily basis. As long as they adopt this amateurish approach to the team, we will suck. Get used to it! This is why I keep saying it would be great if they would sell; it's the fastest road to success.
  16. Great opportunity to play with the lines a bit and get Skinner playing with some playmaking talent again, right? Don't hold your breath! Krueger hates that guy.
  17. It's not that. The handful of Canadian journalists HQ'd in TO who break *all* significant NHL news are the ones with the exposure to allow agents to get what they want out there in front of everyone, so they are the ones who get the info. The information behind news updates like this almost always comes from player agents. It cuts both ways: the journalist gets breaking stories, the agent (now and again) gets what he wants "out there" to be out there to help shape discussion/attitude.
  18. Let's hope this is actually related to an injury! My immediate reaction was that it was just made up BS to cover something up. Kind of like when Alex Mogilny mysteriously developed a fear of flying, or when Hasek suddenly developed a strange injury and couldn't play, but then he could play, etc. If this is just a good old injury, we're lucky.
  19. Philly is coming off a 3-1 loss to the Caps on Sunday. They are also now 2 points out of a playoff spot with Pittsburgh sneaking into the Top 4. Let's hope they come out hungry and take care of business.
  20. His name came up today when S&B were talking to Paul Hamilton on WGR-550. It was suggested Ellis is a guy who is in the organization and who is capable of running the Sabres bench on an interim basis if/when Krueger is fired. Mike Weber's name also came up, who is an assistant coach in Rochester.
  21. At this point, I'm trying to remain calm waiting for Wednesday. Loss tomorrow night in Philly, Krueger termination on Wednesday. If it doesn't happen then...
  22. LOL. Probably. I thought they shut her up years ago!
  23. Paul Hamilton has thrown this out there a couple of times in the last few days. No one should be surprised by an NHL HC trying to protect his turf in this manner. They are all looking out for Number 1, all the time. Ralph has been looking out for himself for a while now; it will take someone beyond him see that, remove him, and start to solve our problems. Pegula isn't very bright, particularly when it comes to sports. This is why a PHO might well be a good thing for the Sabres, assuming Ralph has more power than Adams, which I think is the case. Who is the "expert voice" in the organization warning Pegula that Ralph is only looking out for himself right now, and the he needs to go? Adams? Maybe.
  24. Isolate the variables to solve the equation! Absolutely. And yet we have never really tried this route. Bring in Boudreau and see what happens. Let's pray the only reason why they haven't fired Ralph already is b/c they are working on getting Boudreau in here, and there have been some delays in that process.
  25. I think it's a lot worse now. Tanking had a purpose and it actually worked. Now we are actually trying to win, but are still playing like a tanking team. And we have a head coach who is a fraud and a prevaricator, and an owner who may well not realize that.
