  1. Thought we controlled play the majority of the period; there was a 5 minute period or so where St. Louis came on, but overall we are playing well enough to win tonight if they do this for another 2 periods.
  2. Pretty well played by Mittelstadt I thought. Looked like it was going to be a goal but alas...
  3. I'm probably in the vast minority when I say I liked the red/white/black era! The goat head was horrible, but the all black uniforms were f-ing mean. I personally like the darker blue color; the lighter "royal blue" and gold and white is pretty cheesy. You don't really see a lot of things in the world of design in royal blue, gold, and white. The best you can hope to do with the scheme, IMO, is this, but it requires the addition of red to the colors:
  4. LOL; I thought this thread was going to be about Saber-related gift ideas. Like tickets, a 2019 Sabres calendar, a t-shirt, or a sweater. You know, something you might buy here:
  5. Let's hope they come up with something better than this f-ing abomination:
  6. I had this radio in this yellow color! I clearly remember lying in bed listening to RJ call Sabres games b/c I was so young, my bed time was before the end of the games but my mom would let me listen on the radio! I'm a few week away from being 48 now!
  7. Watch much hockey? She's on NBC Sports network now; used to be anchor for years on NESN's excellent Bruins television broadcasts. PS: Glad to hear RJ is basically OK or close to it. Can't wait to have him back. All you #&#*O% kids saying he sucks can go suck a lemon. Be thankful you aren't listening to John Gurtler do play by play, if you know who that is.
  8. Rasmus has until April to work on his ranking here. Would be nice to see him climb that ladder. And look at Housley! You now you did something right when you are ahead of Bobby Orr on any list of any kind!
  9. I missed the game and only saw highlights; noticed that Duffer was doing the play by play call later in the game but RJ had been doing it earlier in the game on Risto's goal. I thought "What the hell happened to RJ?" and came here to find out! Hope he is doing OK and this is just a false alarm type of thing. Hope RJ is home for Christmas and feeling OK.
  10. I agree, the path to the Cup is by far the hardest to travel for any major league sport in N. America. Even by the time we get to round 3, teams are usually so beaten up they are in "Survival mode" and the combat we enjoyed in Series 1 and 2 is gone. Watching an endurance test to see who can gut it out the longest isn't really that enjoyable; I'd rather see all series played with greater intensity if possible. Maybe go to 5 game series throughout? Not sure how to fix it.
  11. That wasn't a dive, although Skinner is definitely a diver. That is called turtling to avoid getting killed. Pretty cowardly overall, but with his goal scoring this year, I'll cut him some slack. Let the singers sing and the dancers dance. Too bad we don't really have anyone left on the team to properly address the situation with Yandle. Bogo can't do all the fighting, and he's not very good at it anyway.
  12. Dahlin had a rough game tonight. Disappointing turn of events, particularly in the 3rd period. Pommer looked totally concussed. Hope he's OK. I bet he's out for a little while though.
  13. Just finished watching the game on DVR. Eichel is just starting to blossom into his full potential right now. He can be absolutely dominant at times and it's fantastic to watch. What a game he had tonight. Our goaltending was superlative. And Skinner is on pace for 50+; his goal scoring isn't going away! And the empty net goal almost brought a tear to my eye. Gus diving in front of the blast, sacrificing the body with the block...Reinhart then made a really nice play to get the puck up-ice and then over to Eichel....who buried the shot in the back of the net. A real piece of teamwork. These games lately have been FANTASTIC. Really enjoyable game against the Caps and again today in Boston. The suffering is over; this is the fun part.
  14. The hair!
  15. Well, we have to assume now that he was never ill. Which means there is a good story about all this. Wish I knew what it was.
  16. We have to win! Stop the losing streak right now. Very winnable game. 3 periods of solid effort and Jack needs to have a strong night for 3 periods.

The entire time we were on the streak, I kept mentioning that we can't neutralize it by losing a huge amount of games in a row, so that we just end up at .500 hockey for a 20 game stretch. We are halfway to that being realized and that crap needs to stop! Win a game!
  18. His problem is that he still failed to complete half his passes. He did make several nice throws, but they are offset by real head scratchers, including the last pick of the day that sealed the loss. His running will be taken away eventually and then he will have to throw, but he can't do that consistently enough to stay in the league. IMO.
  19. Yes, nearly the entirety of Two Bills Drive is in love with him. The narrative today was that Crossman cost the game; Allen's 3 turnovers seem to have been conveniently overlooked as that conflicts with the other standing narrative that Allen is clearly our new franchise QB.
  20. This was the worst the team has played in probably 15+ games. The losing has to stop! Win a freaking game!
  21. Matt Larkin from The Hockey News just finished a segment with Schopp & Bulldog on WGR 550. If you weren't already excited about the Sabres this season, you will be after listening to the segment. Opening segment of Hour 2 of the show, 12/6/2018. https://wgr550.radio.com/media/audio-channel/12-06-matt-larkin-hockey-news-schopp-and-bulldog
  22. If one digs into the math/stats/data on this, you'll see that it is highly likely we will make the playoffs this year. Or to put it another way, it would be somewhat surprising for us not to. It's gonna happen!
  23. Did you send in hand written thank you notes to everyone you met with on your in-person interview? I would have done that, but beyond that, there isn't much you can do. Some organizations are notoriously slow, lazy, sloppy, disorganized when it comes to hiring. Good luck.
  24. The loss with a couple seconds in OT was like getting punched in the gut and kicked in the nutsack simultaneously. Very entertaining game overall. We've been playing a lot of top teams lately. We need a nice chunk of easy schedule and some more wins.
  25. I was very happy to just find out the game is on NBC Sports Network. HD for me tonight! I can't take much more of the low def Center Ice stuff. The picture blurred every time the camera moved in the Nashville game! Was making me seasick.
