It’s more likely his early play was reflective of the VERY common post-trade bump and that his recent is a return to his season norm, and the reason he was available, rather than indication the Sabres are beating him down

Biggest Sabres issue - losing the 1st period badly too often
Thorny replied to Big Guava's topic in The Aud Club
If you put Don Granato on Tampa would the Lightning struggle out of the gate all the time? It’s the players. That we are counting on Granato to provide SO much of the motivation speaks to the issue itself: the players are unable to provide it themselves. Are they defective? No. It’s likely a reflection of their youth. And I’m not saying that as an excuse but rather pointing out a flaw. -
How close to the playoffs will the Sabres get this year?

In essence 6 as Detroit has a game in hand. And more teams in between. -

He runs it that way because of the collection of talent he’s being granted by the GM He’s lock step with Adams’ instituted process -

I guess you could say it falls to the coaches but at some point it defies logic to think they aren’t remembering to attempt to motivate. If they can’t get through to the players time and time again I think we have to look at the players. They are all getting their big money deals, presumably being paid millions of dollars means you know how to read a clock, no? And can tell it’s game time? I mean what are we really doing here? It’s probably a reflection of them all being kids, at the end of the day. This is the team we assembled to make the playoffs this season. You get what you pay for. -

It only matters if they make it. We had a similar stretch last year and where did it get us? We are guaranteed to finish with less points it’s not playoff type hockey. It’s a mix of teams at different points in their seasons -

We have the tiebreaker over everyone so we technically don’t have to pass anyone It’s 4 points. That’s 2 games. If we make up 2 games over the stretch of 5 we’d make the playoffs. I bet you they run this steak to at least 5 games this time around, they just have that look -

Must win -
We should probably just make the playoffs, considering the cut off is going to be about 81 points What do we have, 6 games left? 2–2-2 should get it done 2-3-1 maybe: I could see the caps and flyers misplacing a point or two we actually might already be in a playoff spot

Players that should NOT be on this team next year
Thorny replied to WhenWillItEnd66's topic in The Aud Club
I don’t mean to claim it’s not a justifiable risk: merely that’s it’s not such a sure thing, “only real option available, or worth considering” that if it doesn’t work, Adams isn’t amendable to result. It’s justifiable, but it’s also justifiable to want to bring in a more veteran back up so we have 2 kicks at the G2 can in training camp. Going with UPL/Levi is defensible right now, in the moment, but that doesn’t stop it from being judged purely based on the results it yields. Exactly. Like I said, “no stone unturned”. Our only difference is what we’d pay to bring in that competition, I guarantee it -

Thorny replied to WhenWillItEnd66's topic in The Aud Club
No, you are talking strategy. It’s not the same strategy, I get it. I said principle: the idea a victor will emerge from competition. I was just using the theory of that principle to illustrate my point. Haggling over straw man, here: “competition breeds results” that old thing that’s all I’m saying -
I guess so, if you don’t count Levi. Will he play more Rochester games this year or Buffalo games? To me if he’s more so an AHLer than NHLer this year he can only be classified as a prospective NHLer
