  1. No offense taken but for last year, the goalie I am talking about was ranked third.
  2. This is Kasdorf's 4th year at R.P.I. so I don't think he is a freshman. His sv% last year was .902 and he went 11-19-2 with a 2.97 GAA. Phillips went 28-9-2 with a .933 sv% and a 1.74 GAA average in his 3rd year.Who would you go after in a trade? I'm wrong then but TSN has him as a +1. I just watched the highlights....he carried the puck into the O zone and was the deepest man in so someone should have covered for him. Not sticking up for him as his play has been only average but a forward should have covered for him.
  3. Thorny, Wow, that must be THE place for stats. Can you explain to me how the Rangers only got one goal (on the PP) and he is a -1? They have a number one stats guy working for them I guess. He finished a +1. Forgot to mention, Staf set up the screen on the PP goal by Ehlers. He drew an assist on the play, too. The coach has confidence in him and is playing him in all situations. He is playing on the PK, the second PP line and his line is going up against the other team's top line. All I said earlier was Murray went after the wrong goalie prospect and should have went after Phillips. We have 2 prospects that are ranked in the top 10 goalie prospects ahead of him and he probably could have been had. I think he finished the year last season with about a .930-.935 sv%. Johnny Danger Face, Where did Kasdorf play his junior hockey? WHL? QMJHL? No, the MJHL which has produced VERY few NHL players. Sixth round I believe. I agree that it is hard to tell how good a goalie is going to be but I would make a bet he plays less than 10 games in the NHL if any at all. "Kasdorf, a Winnipeg native, was believed to be a sentimental pick for the Jets in their first draft since re-locating from Atlanta and is the first player drafted from the Portage Terriers in 40 years."
  4. Stafford was on the PK tonight and looked good on it. Myers played a strong game as well. I actually liked his game tonight...D zone and O zone. They both had an assist and finished plus one for the game. Myers had about 22 minutes and Staf had about 18. I'm more satisfied with Staf's game than Myers' to be honest...I know the season is still young. Kasdorf? Be glad if he is a backup on the farm.
  5. As far as I'm concerned, if the Bruins never made the playoffs again, it would be too soon. I don't care who plays for them (exemption Bobby Orr), I hate them if they are a Bruin. They got schooled ont he Hamilton trade and screwed up royally in the first round of the draft....it looks good on them. When I was in Cuba earlier this year, I met a guy from Boston...the convo went something like this... "Hi, I'm Jim and I'm from Canada." "Hi, I'm Steve and I'm from Boston." "Hi Steve, I hate your hockey team." "I get a lot of that." nuff said
  6. The wind this morning was 47 mph and gusting to 73 mph..I had never hunted in wind like this before. We got out limits before 11am and Black Lab we had retrieved them all and it was his first time ever retrieving for an actual hunt!....made his owner proud....also got a Ross ' Goose as well.
  7. He has a great shot and one of the fastest skaters in the league but needs to use his line mates a bit more. Bogo is still out?
  8. Stafford scores a goal on a great passing play and finishes with 2 points and a +2. His line mates finish with a +1 and a +4 and the line scores 5 points. Not bad for playing most of the game against the Bruins #1 line. Stafford was one of the best players on the ice if you ask me. Myers didn't do anything to hurt the team and carried the puck well and seems to gain the O zone fairly easy. Playing with Enstrom tends to make a D man look good though... You're not going to see Stafford on the 4th line for very long. Although, the 4th line did put up 3 points and a goal tonight and they all finished as plus players. Pavs held the team in it when the Bruins were taking the game to the Jets. Not sure who the stars were but I would have Pavs as #1 star and Stafford as #2 star. Bogo is still not playing? How did Kaner look? I see he assisted on Eichel's goal.
  9. You've got to make the playoffs first........ He'll be playing with two VERY responsible players and going against the opposition's top lines... I can't see him playing on the 4th line much at all.
  10. Scuttlebut is that Staf is playing on the checking line with Lowry and Burmistrov and he is looking forward to it.....lotsa minutes every game.
  11. What is bollixed? There were rumors about Bogo's extracurricular activities before he was traded but not sure how true they were. Who is Kaner playing with?
  12. If Kane stays healthy, he gets my vote........
  13. Myers got Staf the puck and he made sure he got past center and then tipped it past his defender and skated around him, picked up the puck and netted it....he played a really good, sound, veteran game all night. I love Myers' O smarts but he better pick it up some n the D side although it is early. If I were Pavs, I'd be mad about the last goal, he played well and didn't deserve that last goal scored on him....those used to drive Scotty Bowman nuts.
  14. Stafford played very well last night as did Myers. Joined up on the winning goal. Let the season begin!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. Just started reading Thunder and Lightning by John Ferguson....yup, he and Phil Esposito named their book Thunder and Lightning.
  16. Six of us were going to The Who on the 8th of October but they cancelled.
  17. Petan will make the team as a LW. I say he will make the team and start on the 4th line as the LW. I agree about being too small for center in the West. Armia or J C Lipon will be the first call up...if they need grit, Lipon......offense, Armia. Too many players with more talent ahead of him right now and we will be starting 3 rookies and Burmistrov who played in the KHL the last two seasons. I didn't see the game tonight (hunting) but saw the interview after the game with the coach and he sure wasn't too pleased about the first 2 periods. We had 4 guys playing there first game and 2 playing their second and it is exhibitioin so I take these games with a grain of salt...he doesn't. I think the last 2 games of exhibition are kinda important but that's me.
  18. Congrats on the shutout win guys........looks good on the Laffs.
  19. Armia is 22 so this is not the end of the line......yet. I was listening to the game but not watching....drinking beer and deep-frying duck outside....glad I wasn't watching. Raffl (29 years old) Lipon, Copp, Petan, and Ehlers are the rookies still with the club. All played better than Armia and Lemieux. Lemieux needs to work on his skating and I expect Armia or Lipon to be the first call up in case of injury. Ehlers, Copp and Petan will stick with the team.
  20. Like I said earlier, if I lose, I will put Hawerchuk's name on the back of it and wear it with pride........ not gonna happen tho. Lemieux hits everything he can and rang one of the post early....not much else. Armia didn't play. Stafford was playing with Scheifele and Wheeler and I don't know why. He is not fast enough to keep up. The line was average (Wheeler had a tough game).
  21. You're not going to get rid of me that easy. I have a uni bet to collect on!
  22. Good to see him healed up and playing well. He should get a ton of goals for you guys this year. I caught a part of the highlights (rarely watch tv not counting hockey and football) and he scored a goal. What about Bogo? I will come back on tonight or tomorrow and give an unbiased report on how I think Lemieux and Armia play tonight. I hope they play Armia with some skill guys.
