  1. Not at all. There were rumors here that he liked to dabble in some illegal substances....these rumors were started a few times and from different sources. How is he hurt when nobody can find the play that he was hurt?
  2. Are you sure Bogo is hurt? Did anyone see the play that hurt him. He was mysteriously "hurt" a few times while here and nobody ever saw the play.
  3. Only a Sabre fan would say Myers and Bogo are a wash....the fact that Stafford finished his season here gave us the inside edge to re-sign him so that has to be taken into consideration.
  4. In which way? Also, if he is back in 4 weeks, it is probably too soon.
  5. He plays on the checking line and also plays PK and PP.... 5 goals and 2 assists in 8 games and is a plus player. 26 points in 34 games since he got here....I have no problem with Stafford's play at all. I'm not sure it was a change of scenery more than a team that plays a disciplined D game but he is one of the better players on the team right now.
  6. Not sure what he meant about not having his back but when you constantly miss or come late to practices and don't dress to the team's dress code he is acting like a prima donna. Why should he be above team rules? The act wore thin with the players and management had no choice but to trade him. Most everyone is happy the cancer in the room is gone and the trade looks better every day. Stafford is more than replacing his points and knows how to play D AND use his line mates properly. To talk trash after you are out of somewhere is a bush move.....Maurice was asked about it and took the high ground, something Kane would never do. He can be a dominant player on the ice but off the ice...
  7. He gets injured because he plays a fast, hard hitting game. I have never seen Kane be out as long as the doctors first say although with an MLC injury, he might be. I'll tell you this, he will be pleading to get back on the ice before he is ready. He can take a ot of pain but you wouldn't want to come back too early fro m this injury. Let it heal properly. Really tough break considering the goalie is out too.
  8. Should probably get used to Bogo only playing 60- 65 or so games a year. Always hurt? or out of games for whatever reason. What's the verdict on Kane's injury? He'll play with as much pain as they let him....a tough SOB if there ever was one.
  9. Staf and Wheeler were the best players on the ice today. I really like Staf's game so far...he is playing very smart D while getting some points. Also seeing time on PK and PP. Nobody knows what is wrong with Bogo? Did he show up at TC hurt?
  10. What is Bogo's story? He hasn't played yet? Did he play any pre-season games?
  11. I don't agree that the Sabres had the upper hand. That was, by far, the first time Kane "misbehaved" and he wanted out of here for some time. I am sure Chevy could have traded him long before the track suit incident. If he didn't find someone to trade with, he would have held on to Kane until draft day. You could even argue that he might have got more on draft day. (I would have offered Kane to the Canes for their chance at Hanifin and next year's 1st rounder or the three the Sabres got for Faulk and Hanifin but that's me. The Sabres are missing a bona fide starting goalie and you won't go far in the league without one.
  12. pfffft If it were 1/3 or 1/2 of a season then he would have a point. Some hacks write anything just to stir the pot and get people to read their drivel (check out Paul Friessen and Gary Lawless from Winnipeg to see what I mean). Kane gives his all every shift of every game. Recreational drugs? No rumor of that for his time spent here...Bogo on the other hand......
  13. Taken in Chicago at the Botanical Gardens...
  14. Just use your favorite one....I also like Western steak spice but the most important part is having the meat dry so the batter sticks better and let it stay on the fork for about 3 seconds when you put the piece in the oil and sear (for lack of better word) it before you let it go from fork. Dry meat is the single most important thing for a good batter. How thick/thin and a temp of 375F are the others. Also, if the fish you are frying are a bit bigger/older than what you like, try using 7UP ... it takes some of the FISHY? taste out of it.
  15. Batter.......Pepper, Hy's Steak Spice and flour with beer or water....I usually use water as I drink imported beer and it is too expensive. Thicker for fish and thinner for duck or chicken or something more dense than fish. I use the same batter for mushrooms and onion rings. I bought a plucker last year and plucked some Redheads and mallards and a Canvasback we got on Friday....in the freezer waiting for my gf's recipe this winter. Back at er on Thursday morning.
  16. I consider myself a Canadian and my ancestry is Metis and Scottish on my father's side and Ukrainian on my mother's side. I only found out I had Metis in my background about 12-15 years ago. Lots of First Nation peopel prefer not to be called indians and think it is derogatory but I grew up with lots of indians and call them that to their faces and they know I am not saying it in a racist way. Metis and First Nations are different and the Metis only got their harvester rights in 2012. I had family over today and got rave reviews for the deep fried duck breasts and hearts.
  17. Daily limits are 8 and possession are 24. I give a lot away to older folks that don't have access to wild birds and I eat a LOT. Will be doing about 10 breasts Saturday for a family dinner. Also, I am a Metis Indian so I can have as much in my freezer as I choose. I don't go over daily limits while I hunt and don't allow anyone I am hunting with regardless if they can or not. If you get 8 ducks in a day that is enough for anyone. I eat ducks all winter long and into the spring. I have an annual bash every August in honor of a friend that passed away in 1998 and keep about 10-12 ducks for that as well. A few weeks after the bash it is hunting season so I am eating ducks all year long. I also eat as much ruffed grouse as I can if I am lucky enough to harvest any. I don't hunt big game any more but would never turn down moose meat if any friends offer.
  18. Just so you guys don't think we are shooting ducks in a barrel....two of us were out from sun up to sundown yesterday in a marsh I know that is 75 minutes north on the edge of Lake Winnipeg. Seven ducks for the whole day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. No offense taken but for last year, the goalie I am talking about was ranked third.
  20. This is Kasdorf's 4th year at R.P.I. so I don't think he is a freshman. His sv% last year was .902 and he went 11-19-2 with a 2.97 GAA. Phillips went 28-9-2 with a .933 sv% and a 1.74 GAA average in his 3rd year.Who would you go after in a trade? I'm wrong then but TSN has him as a +1. I just watched the highlights....he carried the puck into the O zone and was the deepest man in so someone should have covered for him. Not sticking up for him as his play has been only average but a forward should have covered for him.
  21. Thorny, Wow, that must be THE place for stats. Can you explain to me how the Rangers only got one goal (on the PP) and he is a -1? They have a number one stats guy working for them I guess. He finished a +1. Forgot to mention, Staf set up the screen on the PP goal by Ehlers. He drew an assist on the play, too. The coach has confidence in him and is playing him in all situations. He is playing on the PK, the second PP line and his line is going up against the other team's top line. All I said earlier was Murray went after the wrong goalie prospect and should have went after Phillips. We have 2 prospects that are ranked in the top 10 goalie prospects ahead of him and he probably could have been had. I think he finished the year last season with about a .930-.935 sv%. Johnny Danger Face, Where did Kasdorf play his junior hockey? WHL? QMJHL? No, the MJHL which has produced VERY few NHL players. Sixth round I believe. I agree that it is hard to tell how good a goalie is going to be but I would make a bet he plays less than 10 games in the NHL if any at all. "Kasdorf, a Winnipeg native, was believed to be a sentimental pick for the Jets in their first draft since re-locating from Atlanta and is the first player drafted from the Portage Terriers in 40 years."
  22. Stafford was on the PK tonight and looked good on it. Myers played a strong game as well. I actually liked his game tonight...D zone and O zone. They both had an assist and finished plus one for the game. Myers had about 22 minutes and Staf had about 18. I'm more satisfied with Staf's game than Myers' to be honest...I know the season is still young. Kasdorf? Be glad if he is a backup on the farm.
