Seeing as you haven't answered my question, I guess you didn't use Cozens' stats from this year because they make him look worse. Scheif is bad defensively, no question. Look at some of the other players in that group like Cindy, Drai, MdJesus. At 6.125m x 8 years, I don't have too many complaints. You want these players to play better D, it will come at a cost of their O. Also, Scheif's wingers (Wheeler and KC) are horribly defensively as well and nobody knows why Maurice plays them all on the same line and matches them against players like McJesus when we have PLD and Lowry on the team...baffling to most. Mitts will be a good center in this league even though most Sabres' fans were willing to give up on him. The biggest problem I see with this franchise/fans is their lack of patience and putting young players into roles they aren't yet ready for...Mitts in the NHL too early and Eichel as captain come to mind off of the top of my head.

I was wondering who you were comparing him to...if Cozens turns out as good as Scheif, consider yourself very lucky. What you bolded is Cozens' points from the last 3 season including this one. 13 points is not all that impressive and I would bet Mitts did better. Just looked it up...he was better than Cozens but just barely.

I think Cozens turns into a bona fide 1C but why aren't you using this year's stats for Cozens? 13 points in 40 games played...209 gp with 132 points.

If I remember, I was going to trade Copper for him. He has had the opportunity to play in the top 6 a bit this year and is on pace for a 62 point season in a regular 82 game year. I still think he is going to be traded because Overcharge will walk him to free agency. After this year, he will want mor than Chevy will be willing to give. I wouldn't give him a dime more than 4 or 5 years x 4m. Mitts is still young, give him time.

Chevy gets another player to take a team friendly deal and Lowry extends for a 5 x 3.25m deal.

I'd do it if Couts extended for 4 years. A 1LHD and 1C don't come cheap.

The upcoming unrestricted free agents that management wants to stay should already have been talked to and there should be ongoing negotiations. If they won't re-sign, you trade them. All upcoming free agents that the team doesn't want for next season should be traded. The younger players should be looked at hard for the rest of the season and let them make their mistakes and learn from them starting now. Better decisions can then be made about moving forward.

The Leafs (Shanahan) got rid of some contracts and paid the price and in the meantime drafted some key players. Patience by management led them to a very decent team in time. Pay the price and get rid of him....Skinner too. That Skinner contract is ridiculous. Retain 1.5m and deal him. The thing is, the mind set can't be to win the cup in the next two or so years. I know the fan base is tired of waiting but the team isn't close to being a contender and patience is required. Get rid of the bad contracts, draft and develop with patience, treat the players properly and while it might be hard to attract free agents, once players play there, it will make them easier to keep (re-sign). I know some fans won't like this but the truth of the matter is, patience is required right now.

Cozens is playing for the team he should be playing for and I would give Quinn the most amount of games without burning a year. I'm not saying play him every game until he hits the max - 1 game but play him against teams you think he would do better against and pick and choose your games. Let him make a bigger check while seeing how the pros get ready for the game at the rink and away. It'll make him even hungrier to make the team next year and push him to train his azz off during the off season. Once he has the games required minus one, send him back down or put him on the taxi squad. This is a player you are patient with though. If he is not ready for the bigs next season, back to junior (assuming he can't play in AHL) with him. Take a look at the youngsters and the players you are unsure of that you want to go forward with them. Points mean nothing. The rest of the season should be used to evaluate all positions of the organization, including the team, and make a plan on how to go forward starting this off season. It is time to bite the bulllet and buy out or trade KO to someone and pay the price. Skinner I honestly don't know what I'd do with but he would play in the top 6 the rest of the season.

Laf is a LW behind Krieder and Panarin and isn't seeing that much ice time. He'll improve. Too bad he's a Ranger though.
