  1. Well Granato appears to like these speedy guys, so there might be the connection
  2. They take longer but they're a smoother ride
  3. Well the Skinner-Mitts-Hineysniffer was by far the best line against the Pens when Olofsson was moved. The PCA line looks young and interesting. Bjork-Girgs-Olofsson and Thompson-Ruost-Okposo looks like a wiener to me to start the season. 2nd and 3rd pairing Dmen still up in the air to me.
  4. Dang l understand blowing it up but trading your young guys to?? 2 1sts for Chychrun and we can’t get 4 for Jack because it's too much??
  5. Have you seen our GKrs??
  6. I agree with you with the exception that if the John E. trade isn't completed by opening day, I think anything is possible with the forward group. It wouldn't shock me to see Asplund and Girgensons at C. Skinner-Cozens-Olofsson .......... Bjork-Mitts-Thompson...........Hinostroza-Asplund-Ruosto........Caggiula-Girgs-Okposo lines. Dahlin-Joki....... Butcher-Miller...... Samuelsson/Bryson/Hagg fight it out to play with Pysyk IMO. Unfortunately the GK position just sticks out like a sore thumb. You have Bjork, Girgensons, Caggiula, and Asplund on the PK and who the heck knows how the PP shakes out besides Dahlin and Olofsson on PP1 and Mitts or Cozens at C. The trade deadline time will be interesting again for this team and if Quinn and JJP show enough to get called up at some point in the season.
  7. They won't take John E. for Byfield and you think they're going to give us him for Johnson?? Your Johnson may be worth it but not the Sabres one.
  8. Well I did name 7 C's on their roster as for us our LHD we have Power, Dahlin, Hagg, Butcher, Samuelsson, Bryson and Johnson. All with varying degrees of NHL pedigrees. If Power and Johnson move into our lineup next year, that leaves several guys that could/should have some traceability and all except Power and Dahlin will be the 3rd guy which I would think is an extra incentive to try and pry one of those C's from them and yes I would think unless Butcher has a sudden comeback year you would have to add something of value for them to make a deal.
  9. A quick question, why is a trade with the LA Kings not in the cards even if John E. isn't on the table for them. Their C position currently has Kopitar, Danault, Byfield, Vilardi, Turcotte, Anderson-Dolan and Kupari. Is it unreasonable that they could still make a trade for one of these guys even it it's not Byfield?? The Sabres have an over abundance of LHD prospects, I'm surprised we couldn't entice them with a ++ of that for Vilardi, Turcotte or Kupari.
  10. I'm guessing you weren't very good in history class, the reason those guys were picked up at all was because the Sabres had a historically bad PK team the year before and they were all looked at as upgrades in that department. Otherwise I don't have an issue with your post except that if it smells like a tank and looks like a tank, IT'S A TANK. Having said that the start of this one has some young pieces that have the ability to grow into a team unlike the previous reset, that blew it up and was left with little in the tank/depth.
  11. As for the C-aptain label, there have been several players who were 1 year leaders so to speak and if I'm not mistaken they had a Captain of the Month Club going on in the early 2000's, I think the 03-04 season but I could be wrong on that year.
  12. From what I understand, Zemgus having a girlfriend in a relationship, I don't think he'll he hoe-ing around as much as the younger members of the team will be. OMG I think Inkman has too much influence on me!!!
  13. Cozens has to be the most overrated 13 point scorer who didn't score a point in his final 8 games that has ever existed on a Sabres roster. I like the kid myself but holy cow are you in for a letdown IMO. Let him prove himself before we hand the crown to him. Does he have potential to be a leader, I hope so but to put that burden on a kid who hasn't done jack squat yet in his career is mind boggling to me.
  14. Give me McAvoy, Swayman, Beecher/1st and Debrusk and l do the deal. DeBrusk for salary dump only. Why?? Top 4 dmen set for next 8 years and you get a decent GK for now and Beecher is big and should end up a good 4th line Center. No McAvoy no deal, l really don't want to deal with the Bruins either, btw.
  15. Wow, talk about revisionist history on this site. Kane, Okposo, Reinhart, Risto and Bogo were good???
  16. In my opinion a big part of the problem in the Sabres Front Office is the lack of continuity. You can't keep hiring and firing every 2 years. I'm going to give this organization Adams, Karmanos and Nightingale 3 years to turn this around. Their 1st step is to tear down and retool. 2nd step is to develop the young guys on the team and their draft choices plus some coherent playing style. Step 3 is results. You can't jump over to step 3 without first getting steps 1 & 2 done first. Personally I think Adams has made good choices with his hires so far and I think he's smart enough not to F bomb Mrs. Pegula and tell her husband he's not going to follow his instructions in cutting back the budget without being business like about it.
  17. I think @LGR4GM and @Thorny mommies took their phones away from them again.
  18. I wish he would use emoji's then because l can't differentiate his DA posts from his sarcasm ones.
  19. The Edmund Fitzgerald
  20. I'm going to call Poltapov a late 1st pick (32nd player taken in a 32 team league) and the Sabres have been pretty good in the 1st round of drafts but until they can prove to me they're actually better with picks in the 2nd and later rounds, no way am I going to drink that much kool-aid and put Kisakov on that list just yet. Hopefully he'll get there, not betting my house on it though. Too many Davidssons, Guhle's, Bailey's, Pu's and Baptistes in that mix to get excited about.
  21. You're most likely correct but I was throwing out my best case scenario. I think I'm just in a PTTSD (Pre Trade Traumatic Stress Disorder) and I'm ready for this to be over already so I can resume a normal life again 😀
  22. I don't think we're going to like the return no matter who we trade with. As for Wookie's latest trade with the Ducks, there's no way we're going to get that return. We'd be lucky to get McTavish, Jones and Perreault in a deal.
  23. Besides the Eichel and GK fiasco's going on, I was trying to figure what the team is trying to transition to with this free agent class so far and the latest draft. The one thing that appears to be a common denominator is the preference for speed. Hinostroza, Caggiula and Bjork for that matter may not be your top end forwards but what they do add is speed. For that matter Rosen and Poltapov are both seen as speedsters also. As for the defensive side of the coin, Butcher is a lefty, I think they want to slot him after Dahlin and ahead of Hagg on the left side and let him compete possibly with Miller for PP2 duties. Hagg role will be as a 6th defender and PK guy. Jokiharju, Miller and Pysyk will man the right side. With both Butcher and Pysyk they hope to bring in transition capabilities of the team to attack with speed. These guys may or may not play out as hoped but that's what the Sabres management team is trying to promote here IMO. I think their preference is unless Bryson and/or Samuelsson have a breakout season to send both those guys for some more seasoning in Rochester. With Quinn, JJP, Rosen, Poltapov, Power, Johnson, Samuelsson, Bryson, UPL, Portillo and Levi, the prospect pool appears to be on the right track moving forward. The hopefully sooner than later Eichel trade will add to this list plus give us a player who can add to the Center position as well. I don't think there is any chance that Hinostroza plays C this year.
  24. Well if they received the Linus who looked good for us, it's a big loss, if they received the Linus who couldn't stay healthy for any long stretch of time, well 5M of 4 years is a giant overpayment. We'll see who gets the last laugh.
