  1. That's the way it's most often repeated, but that's not the way it happened.
  2. actually. it was "you fell ya fat pig, have another donut"
  3. Cemeteries are ponzi schemes. They make their money by selling plots and "perpetual care" When the cemetery runs out of new plots to sell the decline starts because there is no new source of revenue to keep up with the "perpetual care" on plots sold 40 or 50 years ago.
  4. 1. They don't have a lot of goalies. 2. It's not about whether or not I like them or not it's about whether they stop the puck at an NHL level. Last year's goalie plan was garbage and if they go into this year with UPL who is unproven at even the AHL level and Craig Anderson I think we can stop talking about the playoffs before the season even starts. The plan can't be to wait for Portillo or Levi and to hell with everything else. If that IS the plan, I stand by my assertion that they are incompetent.
  5. So how long can they go with no goalie and still be competent?
  6. This year's goaltending plan says otherwise. Maybe they'll do better at it this year but until I see an actual NHL goaltending plan on the NHL team the front office can't be called competent no matter what else they do. You can build a helluva submarine, if you design in a screen door you aren't a competent naval architect no matter how good the rest of the boat is.
  7. It's called that because originally it was the hockey team of the tractor plant in town. If they are going to be sponsored by any modern tractor company I'd expect International Harvester....they're red.
  8. No, I know Bishop can't play. My hope was that they'd gotten something of value in exchange for taking his contract (indicating that they might engage in more of this type of behavior to fill the gaping holes on this team) and they didn't.
  9. I guess. I dunno. I saw this transaction on the wire and was hopeful that we'd started to weaponize our cap space and saw we got a basically nothing to do Dallas a favor. Whatever. We need an actual goaltender if not two. Shouldn't be that hard to spend enough money if you're trying to actually fix the issues we have without taking on a BS contract for nothing.
  10. Which Subban at 4? I'm not sure there are ANY Subbans currently worth that. Maybe as a package deal for both.
  11. I would think a 7th round choice would cost less than 3.5M if you tried to outright buy one from a team.
  12. Until there is a legitimate NHL goaltender somewhere on the team it's not a conversation worth having.
  13. Maybe there's a Tshirt you can buy to support the victims of my scorn.
  14. That's called "letting them play"
  15. Is Koharski sponsored by Timmy Ho's or Dunkin yet? If not it's a shame.
  16. The other option is they are jailed, prosecuted, and imprisoned...and the cost is still passed on to the consumer. I have to say I haven't noticed a difference. The roads seem just as busy as always.
  17. Somewhere in Hay River, another person named Connor McDavid is having a great night.
  18. Which is why it pisses me off and part of why nothing happens in the end. Everyone does this, self-medicates and moves on. I'm tired of doing that. It's not about making you feel better. It's about fixing the problem. When you feel better, but haven't done anything, your motivation to actually see it through is gone. and it isn't what you CAN do. It's what you CHOOSE to do. It's also the incredibly easy thing.
  19. You can support politicians that have the power to make change. You can demand that change of them. Call all of your elected officials tomorrow and demand to know what they are going to do to address the incredible mental health problem and it's accompanying mental health service problem. What are they DOING to make out-patient services more accessible? What are they DOING to increase in-patient mental health beds in your community? What are they DOING to make it easier for a person who is exhibiting serious warning signs to be committed in-voluntarily? What are they DOING to enable schools to secure themselves? You can demand to know what actions they are going to take to curtail hate and gun violence. Then you can call them all back every single week asking for follow up. You can convince others to do likewise so that this problem gets addressed in a meaningful way. The one thing politicians are motivated by is re-election and if they all, on both sides of the aisle, are getting pressure from large portions of their constituents to do something about this issue then they will do it. Right now we give the problem lip service and so do they. Forcing a system to make change takes more than slogans, tshirts, and flying the flag at half mast. And you're right, you as an individual don't have that much clout. I'll betcha if I had 5 billion dollars I'd have some more clout. Who do I know that has 5 billion dollars....hmmmmm.... What if, rather than arguing about tax policy and using their money to support people who promise to keep them as rich as possible, the uber wealthy supported people who actually wanted to fix actual problems like innocent people getting massacred on a weekly basis?> How about if Elon Musk stopped whining about Twitter and starting talking about this issue and he and Bezos put some of their money behind fixing mental health instead of flying themselves to space we'd be closer to a solution? Do you think if wealthy or powerful people were getting shot up at this rate that there wouldn't be some quick action? How about if 15 police officers were killed on the same day in any city. Think something might happen pretty quick? I'm not advocating for that. I'm merely pointing out that this is WHY nothing happens. The people who make decisions are able to insulate themselves from this issue so it doesn't matter to them personally. Since it doesn't matter to them personally
