Where's @Buffalonill
He hates when good things happen. He's going to be in a fowl mood all afternoon.
Â
I kid.
You've been hilarious for a week!

I don't doubt that, but why would KA owe Weekes anything?

It didn't matter what route they took they didn't have the front office staff to be anything better than what they have been for 11 years.Â
It all started to get better once they got better in the front office. Not just GM but from the scouting staff up. Darcy was a good GM that had no support and they fired him, it was down hill for 7 years after that because they were absent of front office talent. Botterill was the first GM to have an inkling of professionalism and know how. He has made some good late round picks, something no other GM had done in 15 years.
Can't wait and see how KA does.

Good team. They got their line matches this game. They played like a team that needed a win to make the playoffs.

Mrs Racer stopped, looked at me and asked...
Who is that announcer? She is annoying .. Why are you listening to her?
As long as Dahlin and Takin don't pull bone head moves we have a chance

That makes for some very good odds that Portillo is leaving.

Adams mentioned that He promised the Michigan HC that He would not discuss publicly Owen Power’s NHL Future. I imagine He has similar arrangement for the other two as well.Â
It's almost like Adams has been there and done that in college and knows what these kids are going through....

Nope.

KA calls him a glue player.
He is here as a mentoring vet, even keel, good human being. He is doing his role. He won't be back but the locker room may still miss him. I have to trust that KA and DG think highly despite the holes in his game. He's here and playing despite his fancy stats. If you listed to KA on the pod cast today you know he knows every metric of every player on this team.Â

A big get for Petey and Craig.
That was a great listen.
Explaining why there where no trades other than Hagg. We had so few picks available his first year he wanted to change that and set out to acquire picks. Last year and this year we have/had a lot of draft picks and the need for more picks weighted against the locker room chemistry, the entire staff went with the locker room. He once again explained his version of locker room chemistry and what it takes to win.

Power will be on the 5/6 line, where he should be. He will be taking 80% o-zone starts and will be coddled for the remainder of the season, as he should be. The Sabres coaching staff tried to do this with Dahlin when he first got here but because we where lacking in talent he got thrown into the fire earlier than he should have, then Ralph happened.
This time next year we should see Power start to play as #1 OA selection should play. Expecting anything sooner would be foolish. He's going to make some huge mistakes. Granato and staff seem to be the best at getting players through them and helping them get better.
If Power does what Dahlin has done in the last calendar year this team's back end will be a force.
edit
Had to post in the thread that knows how to spell the young man's name correctly.

Pretty good stat that ESPN had in the postgame:
Total Sabres wins in December, January and February: Â 8
Total Sabres wins since March 1: Â 10
Â
It appears learning to play the right way and becoming healthy merged at the end of February.

4milx3years seems right for VO. I might give him 4.5 for 3 if it needs it because salary cap is fine for 3 years.Â
Â
I've done the search on cap friendly previously about who VO's comparable player/contracts are and he his at a 3.7 mill/year standing. Giving VO a 4x3 is in no way out of line, 4.5x4 is actually quite generous.

I have to believe that KA see's no problem with him in college for all the right reasons for another year. If KA had major reservations and thought it would severely hamper Devon I'm sure they could have worked out a deal.Â
He can never go back to play for NE once he goes pro and I'm sure it was a hard decision to make.Â

He got diagnosed with lung cancer this past October.
He's had a storied yet pain full career and life. I never new he was forced to retire at age 30 because of his knee and back. He scored a lot in a short time frame.
-
He's 24 and will be 25 in October. He has decent numbers for an AHL guy. We got a butt load of first and second round picks over the next 2 years plus our college prospects are due to arrive. The writing may be on the wall.

I keep seeing *next season*. So he's in Rochester till the season is over is the way I take it.

It doesn't appear that he even has an account. He's all over the Sabres accounts.

If Ana was up on us by 5 and they were digging  and hacking at a puck underneath Anderson I’m pretty sure the vast majority here would want the team to send a message that it won’t be tolerated.
Nothing to do with old school vs new school.

Â
I think us old timers call it character, fortitude, comradery, or just simply, guts.
The Sabres have it now.Â
PPPFFTTT Arizona.

The big issue for me is getting the goalie position fortified. Anderson is 40 yrs old and Toker is inadequate as a regular. Is UPL ready to assume a primary role in net? I'm not ready to say so.Â

They need goaltending. The rest is a whish list. Same as every other NHL team.

The Sabres are not several players away from being good, they are good.
I don't even think they are a few players away from being very good.
They are a year or two from maturing. Don't count on a whole lot of outside acquisition to get to the playoffs. They have what it takes in house.Â

I'd try that, especially with a little Frank's in the peanut butter.
Reminds me of a Thai spicy chicken peanut butter recipe ...
