Avs are going to rain goals down upon Edmonton and McDavid isn't enough to counter it. Avs have too much skill, speed, and puck movement.
But the Oilers are more physical so they will win.

When the Oilers are on defense the are trying to play in a tight box.
Vegas hookers play with a tighter box.

Colorado fans are going crazy--but they'd be wise to remember game 1 of the Calgary-Edmonton series.
This isn't Calgary.

It appears the Oilers have no right to be where they are. No defense and no goal tending should not get you to the quarter finals.

Nice, restocking the pipeline. I'm hoping we get much bigger by the end of this draft class.
Not according to Inky. See above ^^^^

Based on the tiny weenie posters claiming how much of a waif this kid is, I was expecting DJ Qualls. He’s a normal sized person. My lord.
So 6 inches and a pair of hands as big as @PASabreFan?

This isn’t a year for anyone to have a meltdown. There are a bunch of players all in the same general area. No one really stands out.
Its going to be fascinating to see how the top 10 plays out. The Sabres will have some interesting options at #9 and there will be a couple players available that some probably didn’t think would be there.
A couple years ago I got caught up in the Rossi tunnel vision and couldn’t believe when they took Quinn. I learned a lesson. I trust this staff will pick a good player at #9, someone who fits the culture and is talented,
For the first time in ?? years can this be said? I also believe that.
I looked back from 1994 till 2014 ( any later than 2014 players are still TBD) draft and the Sabres have been at best in any given draft just better than average but most times bad. In those 20 years only 10 draft classes resulted in a class that produced 3 or more players that played at least 200 NHL games.
They have to hit so much better on their selections than that.

Looks to me like there is no chance for Wright, Cooley, Slavkovsky or Nemec at 9, a slim chance of Jiricek, Kemell, Savoie or Gauthier at 9 and a good chance of Nazar, Kaspar, Yurov, Geekie, Miroshnechenko, Lekkerimaki, Lambert, Mintyukov, or Korchinski at 9.
But the scouts seem so divided that one of my first 8 should almost certainly be there at 9 and some in that top 17 might even slip to 28.
Before you get too excited though, that also means you should be bracing for the Sabres to ignore the "top 8" player that drops to them at 9, or the "top 17" at 16 in favour of someone like Ostlund, Ohgren, Howard, Snuggerud, McGroarty, Mateychuk, Del Bell Belluz, Beck, Chesley, Bischel, Kulich, Trikozov and more.
You can find most, if not all these names in the top 20 on one of the many lists out there.
It smells like a draft where one scout's 5 is another's 15, and one's 15 will be another's 35.
You shouldn't be counting on the Sabres list to match yours.
So an inevitable Liger/buffnill meltdown coming from opposite ends of the spectrum?
Blasphemy.

No, I think it's Nathan Lieuwen.
In another thread just yesterday there where draft discussion leading up to the picking of Sam then Jack and I was reviewing the previous years drafts by class(09-14). The 2010 and the 2011 draft classes back to back was some of the worst drafting in Sabres history. There were only 2 players from both those draft classes combined that made it to the NHL. 15 selections netted two NHL caliper players.
I was shocked to see @Stads question later on that day. If I hadn't been looking at that draft just hours earlier I would never have even remembered him. It's not Nathan.

Only one player we drafted in 2011 has scored points in the NHL, none of which were with the Sabres
Was he drafted in the first round by the Sabres and wind up on a team that almost won the Stanley Cup only to finish the next year DFL?

Seems odd that he would put that out there like that. Not exactly flattering or leading me to believe him more now.

Is it? On a certain level removing context it is, but what team has had a pipeline strong enough to allow their 3 top C's to walk at once?
Was there ANY GM that had built up such a deep organization to be able to come through that sort of a debacle unscathed in a newly salary capped world? They finished 10th in the Conference the 2 years after watching their THREE top C's walk in FA, but then won the division the next year only to fail in the playoffs after Boychuk intentionally took out Vanek's knee and then the next season were in 1st in the division the day Lucic showed the world the team had no heart. By the end of that season, the Pegula era had begun and their most recent trip to the playoffs was completing.
And to follow on to the Q's from the 1st paragraph, does it say anything at all about the pipeline to see the team back at the top of its division a mere 3 years later? Realizing that's a far cry from challenging for the best record in the league which is where they were prior to losing their top 3 C's, but still that's fairly impressive in its own right IMHO.
Video scouting definitely hurt. But the pipeline didn't force the decision to tank and that decision didn't lead to swapping the picks & prospects obtained at the price of the tank for players that were obtained on overpay nor the subsequent selling of those players for pennies on the $ which got us to where we were when Adams took over.
The pipeline was bare bones when Pegula bought the team. We thought we had prospects but they were busts. From 2009 thru 2013 Rochester should have been filled with prospects ready to go when we drafted Sam and Jack the next 2 seasons. The Sabres had next to nothing. Tanking was bad. Not having a good draft in over 5 years before that made it worse (some think you can't do worse than tanking, but the Sabres proved them wrong) .
I won't argue losing your three best centers in one season was going to get fixed by any team quickly, but surely 5-6 years later (2009 till 14/15) when Jack and Sam arrived we should have a very nice young core for them to meld into. We had so little.

Wait. I thought we had to lose on purpose to get the highest picks we could because it was the only way out from ninth place year after year?!
I love how the goalposts are always in motion.
I'm so tired of being sold the future. It's been decades. Call me when we are actually good in the present.
What's your number?
I plan on calling you in late October.

He's done nothing. Absolutely nothing. Other than trade our best defenseman and our best two forwards and not sign our best goalie. FIRE THE BUM!

Pretty sure one wants his hair messed up and the other wants his picture taken. At least from what I have read. I'm no expert. Your going to have to ask Inky.

Just like college football once was. No money for the players and the team owners are very happy.

There's a hose that is attached right below his belt line that works very effectively for that.

Actually, if he's playing in junior all he gets paid by the Sabres organization is any signing bonus he might have negotiated.
Junior players get paid a small stipend by their teams, but you'd have to ask someone who follows junior hockey far more closely to know how much they get there.
That's to bad.
16 days away from making a decent buck playing a game you are now for nothing.
You go CHL!

Players playing in any of the 3 leagues in the CHL are not allowed to play in the AHL until they've turned 20. (There are a very few exceptions to this, but for the most part that's the rule.) That's per an agreement worked out between the NHL & the CHL.
Apparently, he'll be 16 days too young to play in the AHL this coming season.
ALL ELC's are 2 way deals w/ a limited range of allowable salaries, but they are also one of the few contract categories that may allow performance bonuses to be included. The concern here has nothing to do w/ the ELC & is entirely related to his age & having been drafted out of the Q.
Thank you.
I assume then he gets paid his non NHL ELC amount no matter which league he is in.

He cannot go to the AHL because of His Age, He missed the cutoff by 16 days. It’s either the NHL or CHL for Him.
This makes no sense.
Was he to young or to old to make it to the AHL?
His ELC can't be a 2 way deal?
