You have access to google, I'm not going looking up when another teams locker cleanout is.

I've done an internet search several times. None is listed. It appears there will be no access to locker clean out day to any media.

In general I'm really impressed with the higher scoring statistics this past season.  It seems to me that it's been some time since we had so many in the 100+ point category (8 and was close to 10 if Miller and Marner had made it).  The defense stats are impressive too.  It's been a good year for the NHL in that sense.  I thought it was worth discussing while waiting for the playoffs to start..

    Scoring Leaders (points)

    ·         Connor McDavid           123

    ·         Jonathan Huberdeau      115

    ·         Johnny Gaudreau          115

    ·         Leon Draisaitl                110

    ·         Kirill Kaprizov                108

    ·         Auston Matthews           106

    ·         Steven Stamkos            106

    ·         Matthew Tkachuk           104

    ·         J.T. Miller                      99

    ·         Mitchell Marner              97

    Defence (points)

    ·         Roman Josi                  96

    ·         Cale Makar                    86

    ·         Victor Hedman              85

    ·         Adam Fox                     74

    ·         John Carlson                 71

    ·         Quinn Hughes               68

    ·         Kris Letang                   68

    ·         Morgan Rielly                68

    ·         Aaron Ekblad                57

    ·         Devon Toews                57

The second coming of Lord McDavid is not on this list. It must be wrong. Were is the great one, Jack?

This struck me as impossible even a few months ago; there’s no way the cheap, rebuilding Sabres would be interested, and if they were, why the hell would Fleury want to come.

A few factors have changed my mind, especially after watching the pressers yesterday.

Fleury is easily the best available candidate for what we believe Adams is looking for under the cap: a guy who can step in for a year or two and supply some stability and mentorship without blocking Lukkonnen or the prospects coming behind him. He can do everything Anderson did, but better. It would be foolish not to kick those tires.

Anderson’s presser could be used as a recruiting tape for Fleury who was treated like dogshit in Vegas. Come here and hang out with a bunch of great guys who love hockey working for people who treat you the way you want to be treated.

In addition to Anderson’s sell, Fleury can pick the brains of a large group who remembers the way it used to be in Vegas and speak first-hand to the way it is in Buffalo: Eakin, Miller, Subban and Tuch. The latter spoke yesterday of Fleury being a mentor.

Which brings us back to Kevyn Adams the high priest of culture and rebuilding connections with the fans. Fleury embodies everything that Adams wants his organization to be. And his right hand, Jason Karmanos, must have a relationship with Fleury over their long stints in PIttsburgh. Maybe it’s a good one.

Finally, there’s the man at the top of the Buffalo food chain, who I suspect has a lot of love for a PIttsburgh Penguin star and lots of money available to send his way. Not sure if there’s any truth to the rumour the Pegula family cat was named Flower.

So I see the potential of a highly motivated owner and GM offering Fleury more money than anyone else to play hockey on an emerging team in a great hockey environment, accompanied by the testimony of a number of people he can trust.

I think there may actually be a possibility there.

This drips of hopium... which is a great thing.

To counter this I would have to say that Marc wants to play for one of the 4 Cup finalist this year and money will be secondary. He wants one more Cup and who ever has the best hope of winning it will get his attention.

They were on the road Friday night. Unlikely they made them come in Saturday for locker clean out. Either happens today or tomorrow most likely.

Still no mention of it. It will be done quietly and a player or two may be made available. It's damage control time.

I never got the impression that Risto was part of that clique, or any clique.  In the very little we could tell from the outside, I thought he had a much better attitude about being in Buffalo than Sam and Jack.  The issue with Risto for me was simply, he wasn't that good at all.   Of course We/I could be wrong and he could have been a major problem in the Lockeroom.....but personally I just viewed him as a Girgensons that played the back end with a lot more minutes and making a lot more mistakes.

He had his rumblings to the press to the effect..

    * I wouldn't mind a trade...*

KA made that wish come true. Plus he was not good in his own end and we got a great return for him.

The return KA was able to get for Jack/Sam/Risto combined was better than expected.

Really odd. Possible they closed it to the media?

I don't find it odd. It's the only way the VGK can do a successful damage control PR stint. Put Jack in front of a microphone and he's a gif or on twitter in minutes with an eye role or some completely ignorant rumblings trying to answer a reporters question.

    Imagine a reporter asking..

*when you came to Vegas and started playing the team was 1 point out of the conference lead, what happened?*

  7. Old guys rule!

The old bull and the young bull were standing at the top of the hill overlooking a paddock of many gorgeous young heifers. The young bull said, "Let's charge down the hill, knock over that fence and service one of those heifers each". The old bull wisely replied, "Why don't we saunter down the hill, open the gate, take a sip at the water trough and then service ALL of those heifers?"

    He's our old Bull.

Or, as for 90% of those in WNY, the Claritan isn't really working this allergy season. 😉

I was in WNY today on a nice little hike and I blew my nose right before I read this and just smiled. Pollen season. It comes right before mosquito season.

It shouldn’t be too hard to find good players in the draft lottery but then again we had Alex Nylander.

The Sabres have been horrible for so long at drafting there was no trust in them getting anything right. Botterill should be credited with the start of that turn around. Adams has continued it.  If he finds 3 quality NHL players within this years draft he will have nailed it.
