I can confidently say that Levi is not afraid of competition.  In fact, he thrives on it.

He's most likely irked at the way the season ended and wants to have one more go around with his buddies.

The NHL will always be there for him, no need to rush.

He has to know exactly what that will cost him and is waiting and talking with teammates to see if they are in on one more go for the championship.

I would never disapprove of a moral conviction over monetary gain. Seems rather noble in the world of big money sports.

It's almost as if he could be a team first type guy, terrible....

KAs has found the perfect goalie. The irony.

But you still didn't explain what the numbers mean.  I don't want to know though... the point is I think the NHL encouraging sports betting is a terrible idea.

I don't care what the numbers mean. I don't bet. It's just a numerical way of showing how evenly matched two teams are.

In this case because the numbers are so far apart (separated by 500 ) they are not evenly matched teams.

It's the easiest stat for me to understand in 5 seconds (next to the greatest stat of all time the +/- ) , I don't care who produces a stat.

Here's and old Irish stat, say it as fast as possible in your best Irish Brogue.

    WHALE

    OIL

    BEEF

    HOOKED

If this game goes as some predict.

I hate everything about gambling odds, most of all when the broadcast prostitutes itself by going over this stuff during the period break and utterly failing to explain it in an understandable way.

(but thanks for starting the thread  😉 )

    It's simple.

You always want to be a fan of the team with the negative sign in front of the number.

    Panthers Odds-275 Really good team

    Sabres Odds+225    Really bad team.

Closer those numbers are to each other the more evenly matched game.

I don't bet on much. I enjoy seeing horse racing live on great occasion and a simple $2.00 bet on a race. I do enjoy seeing a numerical representation of my teams chances. To me it is the most simplistic of *fancy stats*

  4. The Florida Panthers can clinch a playoff berth with a win at the Buffalo Sabres on Sunday.

Florida is coming off an incredible 7-6 overtime win over the host New Jersey Devils on Saturday afternoon.

    Panthers Odds-275

    Sabres Odds+225

    Over/Under7 (+100 / -120)

    Time1 p.m. ET

    TV ESPN+

Can our Buffalo Sabres hopium crash through the Florida Panthers wall of reality and get a win in todays AFTERNOON DELIGHT game?

    Tune in and find out.

As much as I don't want Cody Eakin on next year's team and as bad as his play has been here, I clearly under-estimated his value to the kids *this* year.

There is a huge disconnect from a statistical and eye test to a locker room/coaches perspective that Eakin brings. There is a small glimpse into that with Eakin and  RJ after the game.

You just can't kick that type of player to the curb when you are trying to get a locker room with the right *character*, especially with the past 10 years of the Sabres locker room.

As HGDG has often spoke of, what they do today is for the betterment of tomorrow. Eakin sets an example of a really good teammate. How many goals he scores may not be his value to the team.

Beat case scenario both Portillo and Levi are probably 2-3 years away from establishing themselves in the NHL... if they make it that far.

Goaltenders are difficult to forecast.  Goalies that set records in junior or NCAA and didn't make it to the NHL are a dime a dozen.

That said, if I'm KA, I'm still looking at goalies in the draft.

I hate to agree with you because it would be so much better if they just where really good, but KA can't bank on it.

    Thank you, RJ

I missed the raising to the rafters last night but watched the video 1st thing this morning.

Tears rolled off my face.  Thank you for so many, many wonderful years.  You are a legacy of my team

    go Sabres

It's like watching your wonderful loving Dad grow old.

    Beautiful, but sad.

How can anyone not shed a happy tear?

This might be wishful thinking but I wish they would print up mini SHK III and NRK banners to sell in the team store. I’ve got all retired numbers and championship ones but it’s always set off the OCD a touch they don’t have those two made up

    Welcome to the forum.

Thank you for your wonder insight.

OCD is this sites middle name, and that hasn't even made a dent. I'd say you have a great idea.

Of course your not officially welcomed till our two wonderful hosts know you are here. Right @The Ghost of Doohickie and @Marvin, Sabres Fan? Slackers.

  9. That wasn't just a PR stunt last night. That was a great tribute from the entire orginization.

They where ready for a sell out. The KBC staff was super friendly and smiling the whole time, helping old guys navigate total paperless experience ( I like paper tickets and buying my beer with cash, and especially tipping in cash).

Every time there was commercial time out we got great video clips, you really didn't want to leave the sight of a TV/jumbotron.

The *stage* set up in the top of the 120 section of the lower bowl is a nice addition since I was last there (2019).

I am taking Rick's three words to heart. I kind of realized it even before the words, when I couldn't bring myself to boo the Pegulas.

I've said my peace. Starting today, I will have nothing bad to say about Kim and Terry Pegula or their family.

    I'm done.

The fans spoke their peace. I don't believe it was the time or the place, but others had a different opinion. Terry had to know it was coming and hoping it wouldn't.

To me it tarnished a perfect night. Cheering RJ and not allowing Terry to speak was much classier way of defining that moment, good on the 90% of fans that went that route.

We all knew the road you would take , good of you to then go one step further.

  11. Not sure which three reports are talking, but one is definitely Hamilton.

    In todays perspective, retrospect..

They got their Stanely Cup (STL)

How screwed up they where (Buffalo)

It starting to go this way now...(Buffalo is on the rise)

Ryan wasn't wrong (for wanting out)

Buffalo wins a Stanley Cap it evens out (Paul Hamilton's take)

NOBODY wants to talk about Saboka, Ralph Krueger does...(laughter) IMO best part.

There're  reasons why Ralph is not here, THERE"S A LOT OF REASONS! (second response..) I heard Eakin's name.

It's interesting to try and put ourselves in these guys shoes.

If I'm Levi or Portillo I'm happy to have the chance to sign with the Sabres that are clearly a team with a lot of young developing talent at forward and defense and there's really no solid block to taking or earning the #1 goaltender spot on the Sabres.  I'm not scared to go head to head with the other (Levi or Portillo or UPL for that matter) for the chance to win the eventual #1 spot.  These guys all must have confidence in their abilities.

Would it really be an issue to have both Portillo and Levi in Rochester next season and getting call ups when they earn it (or with injuries.............like we have for the last two seasons using every goalie in the organization and even having to sign additional guys just to play games).

Should be an easy sell for Adams to sign both.  Get er done KA.

Their really is no better place to be for a goalie prospect right now. You win and you're in.

4 years 4 million get it done!

If that is what he will sign for than that's a no brainer for KA.

    I went to cap friendly and did a *Contract Comparables* for a 26 year old UFA that got 4 mill contract in the last year or 2. This is their list;

    Iafallo, Alex 97% match

    Toffoli, Tyler 93% match

    Fabbri, Robby 90 % match

    Armia, Joel

    Donskoi, Joonas

    Perron, David

    Saad, Brandon

    Palmieri, Kyle

    Hoffman, Mike

    Ferland, Micheal

    Connolly, Brett

    Kassian, Zack

    McGinn, Brock

    Pearson, Tanner

    Byron, Paul

    Foligno, Nick
