  1. ... although a source close to the situation said the information is not coming directly from the Sabres as TSN inferred Thursday night and reported on its Web site on Friday. You would imagine new agent Pat Brisson's regular talks with Sabres GM Kevyn Adams have pushed the exchange of information as being very necessary." Believe who you want but it appears nothing has happened.
  2. It's the spoils of a long fought tanking war we are feasting on.
  3. Who is in net, Anybody is playing center and What is playing defense.
  4. He's in the final years of his career. May he be our Mike Grier of this decade and go out on a good note and teaching the young well.
  5. Don't make me use the drama shield..... the heck with it...
  6. He is a sophomore. But I was speaking with more of an *odd's* factor... If your high round draft pick makes to team captain odd's are not good your getting him signed and he's going to be a UFA...type odd's. Another words, it's just fine he's not a captain.
  7. I hope he's never captain of that team, it appears it's given out to mostly seniors.
  8. If he is on the third pairing and plays sound defensively (to me this simply means keeping the net clear after a draw in your own zone) he should go unnoticed and will have a good year. This is one thing Risto never could figure out how to do.
  9. I see him giving everything he has in a contract year with a coach he hopes puts him in the position to get the most use and best use out of him. The real question that should have been asked is what we think his return will be before the trade deadline happens. That is his best asset he will give this team come 2022.
  10. It's all based on severity and without knowing can't even guess. Just have to hope it's a more of a minor thing that needed *cleaned up* and he will only be out weeks.
  11. When put that way it wasn't exactly the worst deal of the century.
  12. That's a loaded question for this group. Who did they have the very reasonable possibility of bringing in better than them is the better question? With the secondary part : as long as no assets or high round picks need to be dealt for the goalie.
  13. You're a little late to this party. It's Tricky Dicky now.
  14. He can do that. But once he plays the game at any professional paid level he can no longer return to the NCAA. If he has any thoughts of going for his junior year in college he can't do this is my understanding.
  15. My believe is if either Pegula or Adams wanted him playing here this season they would show the money to get him to sign. I'm hoping they both know better than to even try, especially Adams.
  16. Who here doesn't believe it's the right thing to do and what is best for the player and his development? GMKA is doing it right by not making it financially better to play with the Sabres this season.
  17. If Mighty gets a patch on a Sabres sweater I'd seriously consider buying one. Ted's would be another. But we all know it will be someone with much deeper pockets and less ties with the area.
  18. I believe the Dude has me blocked.
  19. From a nice article by Jourdon LaBarber at Sabres.com https://www.nhl.com/sabres/news/buffalo-sabres-hire-tim-kennedy-nathan-paetsch-development-coaches/c-325983330 Kennedy, a sixth-round pick and Buffalo native, played 162 games for four teams. He most recently served as director for the Academy of Hockey, where he organized and led on-ice development sessions. Paetsch, a seventh-round pick who was a member of the Sabres' Presidents' Trophy winning team in 2006-07, announced his retirement from playing last December. He spent his last three seasons in a mentorship role with the Rochester Americans, seeing limited playing time while effectively serving as an extended member of the coaching staff. They've been quietly on the payroll paying their dues and got a job promotion because their boss (Adam Mair) things they do it very well. Terrible people those Pegulas' for running a company like that....
  20. He obviously values winning and not money. He took a low pay contract with a good team in a tax friendly state over losing. That was an easy call for him. I'm sure josh allen would take the same deal in Florida if the situation was the same and love to have that extra 15 million as a bonus.
  21. Rivet is right if you multiply that by the length of the contract. 3 years at 390k gets you well over a million saved.
  22. NYS has 8.5% plus(there are county and municipality taxes on top) payroll tax. Florida has zero. The league(each team) must pay tax to the home State/municipalities in which the game is played in. So Florida players must pay NYS taxes when playing in Buffalo. BUT, Players that play for NYS teams must pay their 8.5% to NYS even when playing in Florida. If they play in Pittsburg or Philadelphia they will all pay the PA tax of 3.5%, but players from NYS will need to pay the remaining balance of 5% to NYS. I do business in those three States. I believe only California has a higher payroll tax and that is the only time that NYS doesn't see a payroll tax.
  23. But that is not what Robin remembers. Please don't remind him of the facts. It dilutes his self worth.
  24. He wasn't signing here for twice that. Good, bad or indifferent to what the Sabres have done he wanted to move on. He believes he's in a good place and signed for less than market value.. Good for Sam.
