  1. Article from Bleacher Report on the trend of large goalies. The story discusses the success of Saros (5’11”) and Shesterkin (6’1”). There is a mention of Devon Levi as a future small goaltending star. https://apple.news/Arl519OIwR2aK1X3GxtcAEQ
  2. Just above JAG status is Nick Paul of the Sens. Awkward looking skater but he gets there. Plays wing and centre. Big body and wears an A. Good on the PK. Reminds me of Gaustad. 4th line depth signing.
  3. Impressive C spine with him as 2C behind Matthews, playing to a packed house if 4500 fans.
  4. Pylons!
  5. It is tough. I was a supervisor for apprentice crews for 9 years and had similar situations. Termination was difficult as they were unionized from day one so there had to be multiple issues over time to build a case. Nepotism was rampant so there was also a lot of politics involved. Overall, it was pretty satisfying to watch kids learn and progress through a trade.
  6. It is an evolving thing and I don’t think we can identify the core yet. To me a core 4-5 forwards, 2-3 D and a goalie. My best guess is Dahlin, Power, Quinn, Cozens, Krebs, Levi and Tuch. Some recent “dynasties” have done it differently. In Detroit’s case the goalie was a fluid thing as Vernon, Hasek and Osgood led them at different times. Those teams could win with non elite goaltending. Tampa just lost their entire 3rd line, who were not considered core guys but extremely important in their runs. Their goalie is elite and they probably don’t win without him. Chicago had a core that stayed together for three Cups but had to turn over all the supporting players due to cap issues.
  7. I’ll drink to that. He cannot even get it to the red line and dump it in. He tries to stickhandle and gives it up. Bjork is where a rush goes to die while Eakin can’t start a rush.
  8. Habs just beat the Leafs, St Louis is trying to right the ship. Don’t take them lightly and attack. Let’s go Buffalo!
  9. Panthers broadcasters just said Rheino has 38 points in his last 29 games. Yeah, Huberdeau is totally under the radar.
  10. I have a hard time taking you seriously when I see your avatar. I don’t use many gifs but I laugh at most of them.
  11. It seems like a reward for good play on the farm and an incentive for the rest. If his game translates to the NHL maybe he makes Hinestroza more expendable for a deadline move.
  12. I am a dinosaur and go to the games to watch hockey. I do not miss any of the action and don’t want to be distracted. I get that the modern fan wants to be constantly entertained and have 75 dining options. My son plays and loves hockey but he can’t sit and watch a game for 3 hours. He and his friends want to be seen at the games, spend most of their time on their phones letting everyone know they are at the game. I’m being nostalgic here but the excitement used to be when 16000 people would ooh and aah at spectacular plays that would make the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Sometimes the biggest cheer now is who can come up with the goofiest dance on the jumbotron. Get off my lawn. LOL.
  13. This was fun. Jiricek at 5 was a reach but he may end up better than Nemec. Isaac Howard at 29, BPA for me. Filip Bystedt at 30, don’t know much about him. C Owen Beck at 37. C Danny Zhilkin at 69. C I believe in drafting centres and converting them to wingers if necessary.
  14. His seeing eye dog was lost in transit between Phoenix and Toronto and Carter can’t find his way around.
  15. Dubas keeps stealing pieces from that great franchise. He’s hoping they don’t have a franchise soon so Matthews doesn’t Tavares him.
  16. I think David Perron is on his third stint in St Louis. Not sure if he was traded twice or he left as a FA.
  17. Good for them, small country but they have been winning a lot of hockey games.
  18. Just saying’ that I didn’t like Vegas to begin with and will not cheer for them to succeed. I’m not a Jack hater, he just never fueled my Sabres fire. When his contract is up and he signs with Boston his fans will get to see him more often.
  19. Sabres were a bottom feeder already. Just noting that he hasn’t brought the magic.
  20. He has good size as well but the knock on him last year was his skating. That can be worked on. He has a shot at getting a look for the AHL and take it from there. His numbers are slightly better than last year. He also plays with some of the best players in the Q, Bourque and Bourgault. They both made Team Canada so I would say he benefits from playing with them. He may be a good complimentary player. You are right that he should be getting more attention. The Q is not as highly regarded by most hockey people, unfortunately.
  21. I doubt anyone has his rights. He is 28. He played in North America one year, in the AHL. He had a good showing for starting out as their third string guy.
