Stamkos will be a Sabre. That's all.

Rnd 5 Pick 129 - Sabres - Philip Nyberg - D - Sweden
Rasmus_ replied to Taro T's topic in The Aud Club
Well he's got size? Crickets. -
He cannot wear number 2, because he's been wearing it his whole life. He's getting cramped up with anticipation with the draft hovering over. His dream bobbed into reality as the pick came flushing in. What about you Mr. Pu.

Rnd 5 #130 - Sabres - Vojtech Budik - D - Czech Republic

That's beyond amazing. I love this pick more and more by the chuckle. -
Coller believes in the possession stats. But, honestly, he's been up, and down and up and down. I just haven't gotten enough satisfaction out of him. While he hasn't played enough due to injuries, or inconsistency I believe he's a solid citizen on the back end. I liked our side more, but I can understand it for Florida. Asplund was one of my higher rated guys and I fell in love with his game.

I think the CLB GM has been possessed. Between Dubois over Pujuljarvi and Harrington for Rychel...wtf.

Sabres Pick - Swedish C - Rasmus Asplund - Rnd 2 #33

That's a very apt comparison. Very similar skills in a lot of ways. -
Lottery ticket, very skilled. A rare rare very not Tim Murray pick. Seems like he acquiesced to his staff.

This is a good value pick. He picks up speed into transition very well. It's someone who had fringe late second round/early third round value. -
BRETT MURRAY POSITION: Left Wing SHOOTS: Left TEAM: Carleton Place (CCHL) BORN: July 20, 1998 VITALS: 6’-4” / 200 Lbs STATS: 48 GP 14 G 32 A 46 PTS 16 PIM Murray is a big, rangy winger who is still growing into his frame, but has some intriguing offensive upside. He is a big-bodied power forward who will throw his weight around. He might get a little off balance when bumped, but he will continue on as he is hardly ever knocked over. Murray is incredibly strong in possession and doesn’t let the opposition get at the puck no matter how hard they try. He sees the ice well and slides into open lanes with his stick presented to his man for a pass. He is driven and will drive the net for a chance to finish off a rebound. Murray uses his size to his advantage as he finishes his checks hard on the forecheck and protects the puck with sheer strength. He displays some impressive and high-end playmaking skill down low, cycling the puck and getting creative with it before dishing it to the slot. He makes very good use of his body, especially on the backcheck as he catches his man and rubs him off the puck. He goes hard on the forecheck, but reads and adapts well as to when he needs to ease off or kick it into gear and get on the puck carrier. Murray has some skating deficiencies that will need to be addressed as his stride is choppy and lacks in jump. His first few steps need a lot of work as does his balance; all traits of a kid trying to grow into an ever-expanding frame. He will have plenty of time to develop during his time at Penn State. NHL POTENTIAL: Bottom-Six Two-Way Winger

I'm so confused by this draft. But, okay.

Round 3, Pick 86, D Casey Fitzgerald, Boston College.

He's from the same town Vesey was born in and is a family friend. If this pick was wasted to woo Vesey, I'd be very disappointed. It looks like he played up a bit at BC. Especially with Cederholm who is a superior prospect. I could be wrong. -

What a terrible pick. This is the first defensemen taken by Buffalo. Blah. -
LG, just because you're butt hurt, doesn't mean this isn't a bad pick. He will put up fantastic numbers next season in London. I agree that it is puzzling, but Pu was ranked anywhere from like 26-42 or so.
-
Yeah I looked at him just a second ago before the Pu pick. He seems pretty solid.
-
Pu, does some things right, I wouldn't fault the selection. But, you have to wonder....
-
Cliff Pu....that's a value selection, but an odd pick after the last two picks. Hmm, I'm guessing they're D has been taken up to this point.
-
My exact thoughts LGR. That's just very disappointing.
-
I may be wrong, but didn't Murray said that they have no potential issues with the expansion draft?
-
The problem is while he is a possession teams dream. He is what he is, a third pairing D. He never really developed into providing great offense. He's a decent D. Good luck to him.

Sabres Pick - Swedish C - Rasmus Asplund - Rnd 2 #33
Rasmus_ replied to Taro T's topic in The Aud Club
He quoted in his post round 1 interview, speed, skill, talented players. That's all what Asplund portrays. I think you take BPA, in most cases. -
Ugh, Toronto makes a great pick in Grundstrom.

A questionable draft expert. McAvoy and ....crickets. -
Kulikov is a heavy hitter. His offense never really picked up to meet his draft prospectus. Also, Pysyk was not a "Murray guy".

He could slip, he was ranked #72 on McKenzie's board. Weirder things have happened. Trent Frederic in the 1st round, retarded.
