I'm worried about nothing concerning the joke that is the NFL. -

Well Comrie is also himself underwhelming in the net. Seems like a stand up human, but back up at best. -
Seeya Constantine. Deuces dickweed.

The summer doldrums of hockey. Propose an NHL rule change.

Teams in Toronto should disband, just for the simple sake of "common sense". -
Bryson won't make it to October 16th as a Sabre. I fully expect him to be moved in a change of scenery scenario where we acquire some sort of out of options former club mid 20s drop. See the example of Maxime Comtois if he had been qualified. Someone who at one point showed something that has since fallen out of favor.

Kulich has some jam, a good shot and cam draw down the middle. He got noticeably bigger. I think his game fits more on lines two or three. Regarding Rosen, who also got noticeably bigger has really impressed. Could I see him making the team. Sure. I just think Kulich makes so much more sense.
-
I think if there's a sleeper it could be Ryan Johnson beating out the Stillman, Jokiharju, Bryson group and making the NHL early. That's the closest thing that I see. Rousek would be the other sleeper to make the team out of camp over someone like Jost potentially.

Look at how quickly the last three drafts have shown to improve. If you look prior to the 2019-20 draft the Sabres had not had much success drafting past the 1st round. A reformatted scouting department, analytics group, coaching staff and new identity. A message of drafting, developing and improving both the NHL product and the AHL product shows the improvement. Making key trades, and focusing on culture has put the team in a better place than they've been since 2010-11. It's impressive the talent and the ability of Don Granato to work with his players and push them forward. I recall before the 2021-22 season, dogging on Tage, and ready to cut bait. Furthermore, when you have the youngest team in the NHL, you're going to have a dearth of prospects/young players.

Checking in, happens. So I agree wtih LGR for sure! Would it shock me that Adams hasn't checked in on the acquisition cost of Hellebuyck etc. as well. I prefer Cozens at this point, in his draft year I wanted Zegras.
-
Would you love to add Zegras, sure. Anyone with his talent makes the team better, however. There's only so much $$ to spread around. With Dahlin, and Power needing new contracts, you have to prioritize. There will be new contracts for Tuch and others in the future. Krebs will need a new contract next year as well.

Captain Kyle Okposo: Team Bonding Trip to NY Jets Game
Rasmus_ replied to LGR4GM's topic in The Aud Club
He might not be the captain I'd prefer, but as I said, Okposo can finish his career here and I'd not complain. The same with Z. Players that don't bitch or capitulate when they could have during the hard long years. Okie is an amazing person and example for how to do things right as an athlete. -
Let's go! I'd rather watch preseason hockey than playoff football. Yes I'm nuts. Let's get started.

Annual expectations thread 2023/24: #4 Connor Clifton
Rasmus_ replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
He had a really solid year with Boston. He's not flashy, however he gives a lot of what Buffalo needed this Offseason. Physicality, realistic cap term and a natural middle pairing defenseman. -
GDT: Buffalo vs. New Jersey Prospects Challenge, 7pm
Rasmus_ replied to Marvin's topic in The Aud Club
Rosen has grown a lot, he looks bigger and much more aggressive attacking the zone. He's impressed me along with Johnson and Metsa. Matthew Savoie looks fantastic as do Benson and Kulich. The German defenseman made some really nice plays (I know it begins with a "P"). Really impressed with what I've seen. You see little ripples with Kisakov and Neuchev as well! -
Annual expectations thread 2023/24: #17 Tyson Jost
Rasmus_ replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
I think he'll be bounced somewhere between November and trade deadline. I think he's coverage for now, but ultimately will be replaced. -
Honestly, not a chance, he'll spend the entire season in Wentachee, before coming to Rochester next year. He's by far our most talented forward prospect, but there really isn't a need for him this season without some major injury between now and October 1st. Savoie, Kulich, Rosen, Rousek, Weissblach, Cederqvist, are all further along. That being said, if he shatters all expectations and provides that he's ready now, I'll gladly shut my mouth.

Annual expectations thread 2023/24: #20 Jiri Kulich
Rasmus_ replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
The great thing is, we have enough spots covered, that barring someone seriously underwhelming in camp, Kulich and fellow first rounder Rosen aren't needed yet. I think Rosek will get the shot, if he surpasses Jost potentially. -
Adams "still going to work on" Dahlin deal over next couple of weeks
Rasmus_ replied to PASabreFan's topic in The Aud Club
The price of doing business with highly drafted players, is out of ELC contracts, you have to pony up, or look to move them. The surging upwards Sabres, are not in the maligned muck. With the possible "hope" of Devon Levi being the savior in net, and a few key defensive and depth size signings. We could finally see the curse of 13 years of suffering and anguish end. Signing Dahlin and Power isn't just a necessity, it's part of that upward climb out of the dogshit that we've been malaised with for over a decade. We finally have two horses, that can push us up. Look at the dynamic of Hedman and Sergachev. They both are dominant in their own ways. This is similar in Dahlin and Power. Power is more of the Hedman, confident, calm and uses his size the way he needs. Dahlin, the more powerful, physical player, who still has enough skill to press the issue at any time. If we want to make the next step up, this is the price of doing business. Welcome to becoming a big club. Tampa has depth down the middle, the sabres are showing that. They drafted and developed a core, the Sabres are starting to finally show that their previous inemptitude is ending. A stronger case for analytics, and actual indepth scouting, is improving things in Rochester, showing a conference final in just over a year. That's with only a few blue chippers. The sarbes, continue to add different dynamics to their farm system, and we're no longer a joke. Dahlin and Power for 8 years, is an eventuality. -
Sabres Trade Ilya Lyubushkin to Anaheim for a 2025 4th Round Pick
Rasmus_ replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Bryson had no place on this roster, so we trade Ilya. I loved Lyubushkin. I will definitely always remember his OT winner. Ty for your time here! -
Sharks trade Karlsson to Penguins in 3 team trade with Montreal
Rasmus_ replied to matter2003's topic in The Aud Club
Considering they were able to move off of Granlund who clearly didn't fit as well as Petry and DeSmith at the cost of a first round pick. They did fine. They also gained three million in cap space. I could see them using some of it on a UFA on a one yr deal. While I think this likely will not end with them hoisting the cup, they didn't give up any of their limited upside prospects in the system. Clearly SJ is looking to flip the three veterans with some bounce back in a market/team not expecting to complete and get younger assets on the back end. Hope it works out for them. -
Glad the Sabres won't be on the hook for this type of player in years 4-7. Because he's going to fall off a cliff.
