  1. But you just said "Sexual assault charges have nothing to do with anything here." What did you mean by that?
  2. Ok, let's just make this clear. Are you saying that EK's current charges of "harassment" have nothing to do with any perceived sexual assault in the past or present? He never laid a hand on a woman with the intent of it leading to undesired sexual advances? I don't want to conflate things.
  3. Ok, I'll try to say if a different way. Jimmy asks a team "do you envision me being in the top-6?" The team replies "Anything is possible, but no, we don't envision you in the top-6". Jimmy then has a choice to (a) walk away or (b) sign with the team anyway. Based on that information, if chooses he chooses to walk away, because he said he desires to be in the top-6, then it was imperative that he be viewed as a top 6 player. It was a requirement. Since Jimmy is the only one making the decision here and he had to be viewed as a top-6 player to make this decision, you can say it was a demand that had to be met. In effect, any little whim he desires can be thought of as a demand because if he doesn't get it, he won't sign.
  4. Google "Boston Globe Vesey". First link: https://www.bostonglobe.com/sports/bruins/2016/07/02/jimmy-vesey-mulling-his-nhl-future/d0xIzgGvkAJD4kBOoI4dgK/story.html I guess Smell wasn't lying when he posted that quote. Do you think that's a legitimate question though? Do you think a prospective is going to say "no"? Since he specifically brought it up in an interview, it would seem like Jimmy would want more of a real answer rather philosophical musings of a GM.
  5. You don't seem to understand that Evander is NOT being charged with sexual assault, but rather charges. If these four (4) complaints (that you think I'm dismissing) held any water or seek to "press charges", then why isn't he being charged with sexual assault? Police said they were no longer even pursuing these charges. I'm not a lawyer, but I believe that in sexual assault cases, the victim doesn't need to "press charges" in order for police to criminally investigate or to prosecute. The reason why the county abandoned their P Kane investigations was because that case was severely (if not bizarrely) compromised. Nevertheless, where were P Kane's bogus charges and his hand-cuffed photo-op? That is what I take issue with. Both Kane's have the same lawyer and were accused of sexual assault. One walks free. The other one gets slapped with charges (of which the bar even said he didn't do). The question is why?
  6. What specifically doesn't make sense? I think you need to read this: http://aol.com/article/2016/01/21/patrick-kane-accused-again-of-rape/21300896/ http://motherjones.com/media/2015/09/patrick-kane-sexual-assault-case-explainer 2 women assaulted. 1 perpetrator. Why was P Kane not arrested on some trumped up charge of harassment or some other bogus charge? So, to answer question: Yes. I firmly believe that if his name was Patrick and had a pale looking face, this arrest would NOT of happened. Can I be any clearer?
  7. You can post that at the top of every page, but people still won't get it. Someone will ask a loaded question like "what demands are you speaking about". We can call it what we want, but it is still a "demand". Vesey holds ALL the cards. If a team doesn't offer a top-6 position and he wants one, he will walk. The team won't get to sign him. So, in effect, it is a "demand".
  8. I agree. It was said tongue-in-cheek and was likely insensitive. I didn't mean to disrespect the plight of how African-Americans were treated in the past. However, I still think this is being done in the very same spirit and is blatantly prejudicial. The club said he was not trespassing, but he was arrested (with much fanfare) for that very same thing. That does not add up. This simply would not be happening if he was white. Sorry for bringing race into it, but I'm a Conservative and even I think this situation stinks. If he did those horrible things to those women, then arrest him for that crime. If they don't have the proof to prosecute him for these accusations, then maybe they are just that.
  9. Don't let that minor detail derail this public lynching. In fact, I heard he was parked in a handicapped spot too. Should've shackled him.
  10. It's amazing how many teams are now lined up to trade for the player who was just cuffed on the 11 o'clock news. In fact, it's a bidding war.
  11. This whole situation is ridiculous though. The trumped up charge and the dog-and-pony handcuff show, none of which happened with ROR or Patrick Kane. I understand these are different scenarios, but I doubt they were any less guilty. In either case, their situations were very suspect. Call it what you want, but they guy has an obvious target on his back. The charges are crap. Under no circumstances, with the lawyer he has, will he serve jail time or be found guilty. So, you have to ask, what is the purpose of this or who will benefit? This was not done at the Sabres request. It kills his trade value. If the Sabres were involved, they would told BPD to kill the charges and they would ship him out of town.
  12. And also plummets his trade value. I don't think this had anything to do with the Sabres. This likely has to do with: you know that black guy on the Sabres? He must be doing something wrong. Keep a close eye on him and charge him if needed.
  13. It does. Because it's a standard term used in the field of probability: https://www.mathsisfun.com/data/probability-events-independent.html Another way of looking at it: Given 1 in 10 players make it to the NHL. You draft 3 players. Then what is the probability that at least 1 makes it to the NHL? Or, what is the probability that Player X or Player Y or player Z makes it to the NHL? Key word is "or". In math terms: P(X or Y or Z)=P(X) + P(Y) + P(Z) Where P=probability There would be a 3/8 chance at least 1 of these players makes the NHL. http://www.mathplanet.com/education/pre-algebra/probability-and-statistic/probability-of-events Scroll down to the where example.
  14. This is true because a single player making an NHL team are independent events. However, if you look at it from the Sabres perspective, they care about just 1 of the 3rd round picks making the NHL. Now, we are no longer talking about independent events, so the odds that at least 1 of those players making it goes up. If you buy 1 million tickets for a lottery and there's a 1:1,000,000 odds of winning, you have an excellent chance of winning. Your odds of taking home the money is very high, but the odds of having 1 winning ticket is still 1:1,000,000.
  15. I don't know too many people who would exchange $2 million for a Harvard degree. Especially a diploma in political science. That said, when you're coddled, you don't learn the value of money.
  16. I totally agree with everything you said, but the Lindros comment. I like to play "what if..." games and I'd say that Quebec/Colorado would never have won those cups if Quebec hadn't traded Lindros away.
  17. What exactly would be the benefit or purposes of having him sign his ELC if the Sabres are not going to send him to Rochester (or give him a roster spot)? He could go to Sweden or OHL without an ELC, correct?
  18. I wouldn't pay $11 for a pitcher of Guiness nor $1 for a bottle of Labatt's.
  19. That's awesome. We'll have to see what he thinks about the snow though.
  20. Why thank you. I try my best. But seriously, if we were in Nashville's shoes, this board would have imploded.
