  1. If someone gets hurt I expect the next man up to fill in. It’s a hard balance though. Playoff experience (even if it costs an asset) will undoubtedly help this team. Filling in for an injured player also gives experience in the face of adversity. I just don’t want to send assets for a month-long stint with the team.
  2. I don’t want any rentals. Get someone who fits into the team’s long-term vision or forget it.
  3. Good to know. That’s looking like a bad contract. $10M for 92nd in total points since coming back. Plus, his reported lack of effort off the puck.
  4. Yep. I don’t like reading KHL and draftee in the same sentence.
  5. Or the bigger elephant in the room is does VGK move on from Eichel and his contract. Iirc, his NMC kicks in this offseason. If they don’t move him, they’ll be stuck with that contract till the end.
  6. This situation sounds like the Jason Robertson situation of last year. KA heard he could be available, so he checked in to see the price, but was ultimately just window shopping.
  7. Nobody can beat the cologne he makes though. Stetson drives the ladies mad.
  8. Don’t forget that Bloom didn’t play any hockey during the 20-21, the season before he was drafted. Had he played, and progressed as he has, he very well couldn’t been drafted much higher. Savoie did play hockey during the 20-21 season.
  9. And due to this, it really limits what they will be getting for him. I certainly wouldn’t send a small group of young, promising players or picks for a potential rental. And this doesn’t even take into account that only a few teams would be able to absorb this QO. He’s currently making $6M. How many teams even have that space right now? We may end up being on the receiving end of a Hall type of trade.
  10. Teams usually overpay for competent goalies for a playoff run. The problem is Anderson has yet to win a game in 2023.
  11. Off the top of your head, can you remember the last time Anderson won? I can’t.
  12. He may need another conditioning assignment. Really though, Anderson is not the future and should sit, unless they are showcasing him.
  13. Or it could’ve been Terry pushing for the tank. Ultimately, he had to be onboard with it.
  14. Maybe this is closer to the problem than we think. We all know talent alone cannot make a player elite. The ones that become elite usually train and prepare well above and beyond than the next guy. McKinnon is a great example. Talent players that just go with the flow are the ones that either fall out of the league or in the best case scenario, become like Jack. He has elite talent, but is not someone you lean on to elevate your team. I still think the Sabres will win a cup before Jack does.
  15. I don’t see them terminating him. If I were making his salary, I sure as heck wouldn’t agree to it. We already know no team is willing to pay him what he’s making now. Sure, he may want to take a pay cut and play, but it’s just temporary. He’ll be a free agent at the end of the season. He can play next year, but still don’t see him getting the money the Sabres gave him.
  16. UPL is having a good game. He needs some offense though.
  17. I agree. And I don’t know if there is a psychology of a team playing better (or worse) in front of specific goalies, but we have seen lackluster play for Anderson’s last 2 starts. We’re in a playoff race though, so I’m not interested in trying to tease out the reasons for Anderson losing. Easier just to shelf him and revisit later.
  18. Has Anderson tweaked his lower body yet? Maybe at this morning’s skate.
  19. I went to school at Cornell. What a beautiful and chill place to pick to live.
