  1. I understand what you're saying there. Shakespeare is undoubtedly a literary genius, unquestionable. But there had to be tens of thousands of other authors from the same time period that were pretty damn good, but likely have been buried by the sands of time and the inability to mass produce books back then. 400 years from now, I don't think today's authors will have this problem. Anyway, so Sam Reinhart... I certainly hope the denizens of 2300 don't view Miley Cyrus the same way we view Bach (who was considered a "rock star" back then).
  2. True. You could look at it that way. I was mostly saying that because TM probably offered him more money than what he ended up getting from STL. And perhaps other teams did too and he held out. That's fine. He'll be great for the Tank then. And then he'll light it up in 5 years when McDavid & Rheinhart & co are gunning for the Cup.
  3. I'm pretty sure he did. But, it's likely Ott and his agent said "we'll keep looking" thinking the'd get a better offer elsewhere. GMTM then said "fine, suit yourself" and went on his FA shopping spree and effectively took Ott's original offer off the table. Ott rolled the dice and lost. Looks like the NHL didn't value his play that much either.
  4. Don't forget to roll some coal on them.
  5. I'll be surprised if we don't turn around and flip him to Garth for a 3rd.
  6. It won't matter. He'll be one player in a sea of incompetence. So, he scores 30 goals? That alone won't be enough to lift us out of the basement considering they'll be no Miller to keep us in games. Then we'll ship him out at the deadline, hopefully, and ensure the tank by dropping the rest of the remaining games. Don't forget, we had Vanek during the beginning of the season and were still in last place.
  7. I'll definitely be tuned-in to see how it works out for them over the next 5 years. Do their cap hits increase in as contract ages? Edit: never mind. Front loaded. Good for all parties.
  8. You do realize Crosby only has 1 Cup right??? I don't want just 1 cup, and I doubt TM does either. Point still remains, one "generational talent" doesn't equal consistent winning.
  9. I'll be sure to remember that next time an off-topic conversation about normal human physiology and emotion happens to pop up. I know, we should be above that, right? Good talks as in the use of proper grammar and pronunciation I bet.
  10. If that's the type of collection of players that would need to be traded to get 1 or 2, if we had one of those picks I definitely would be open to trading it. If we have learned anything, a generational talent in itself doesn't guarantee a Cup. Sure, I would love to have an Ovechkin or Crosby on the Sabres, but they were sitting watching the Stanley Cup Finals on TV just like you and I. If we look at the Cup winners of the last 5 years, we see complete teams. It's the complete teams that are the recurrent winners.
  11. I'm fine with whatever Kim wants to do.
  12. Well, a little different situation, but Lindros was considered a generational talent that was traded away, even considering Quebec's hands were tied. And we all know who got the better end of that deal. So, if we landed #1 or #2, I would expect TM would listen to offers. Like he said, the other GM might do something "crazy".
  13. Yeah, this whole adult males checking out an adult female who willingly posted her pics all over the internet thing is definitely tops on my creep meter.
  14. I doubt they're being told not to go 100%, but if they can't seem to grasp what's going on here, they're dumb and I wouldn't want them leading our young players. That said, I expect them to give a good effort nightly, but above all, lead by example, create a nurturing environment, and have fun. And Ott's wife is hot. If I were him, I wouldn't have even notice FA started.
  15. I trust TM knows exactly what he's doing and that he did little more than rearrange the chairs on the Titanic. Should be more entertaining though.
  16. No, Darcy is a tear down specialist. He certainly could build a team, but no one beats him in tearing them down. That Vanek trade is the stuff of legends. I even believe Darcy would've bagged a better haul than TM last trade deadline.
  17. Tank is definitely on now. We should definitely spin his wheels this year just to see what we got (and to tank).
  18. I'm OK with the length of this contract. In reality, the players we just drafted recently and the ones we get next year are not going to be stars in 3 years time. Likewise, while we may make the playoffs, the Sabres aren't going to be seriously competing for a Stanley Cup in 3 years either. It's going to take us probably 5 years to get to the level of the Kings or Blackhawks. A 5 year deal gets us to that point. It allows for a positive Veteran presence until our youngsters are vets themselves and gunning for the Cup. I think any vet that has a high "care level" and specifically chooses to be a Sabre, despite the Tank, is a very good mentor and a guy you would like to have around. Plus he's a proven to not be a Tank liability.
  19. Do you think this is a just ploy to keep McDavid out if their division?
  20. A certain military attack vehicle.
  21. This is quite a surreal free agency eve. Usually we are all pulling for the Sabres to go out and get some awesome shiny toys. Not this year though. Seems like the consensus is to just get some warm bodies. You ever get into a traffic jam only to find out people were all just slowing down to gawk at an overturned tractor trailer? Same thing going on here.
  22. Got that, Tank? Put that on your calendar or something. In fact, I'm holding you to it.
  23. The Colts have Luck and we have EJ. See? Tanking couldn't possibly good for the long term health of a franchise. In seriousness, the Sabres have tried to do it the honorable way for years, yet here are still, hoping for next year's draft. Since it hasn't been said yet; you have to break a few eggs to make an omelette.
