  1. This would be an awesome name for a band.
  2. First half of game one. Not good.
  3. “Yeah man, I tell ya what, man, that dang ol’ internet, man, you just go in on there and point and click, talk about w-w-dot-w-com, mean you got the naked chicks on there, man, just go click, click, click, click, click, it’s real easy, man.”
  4. I’m glad that Gosselin is included. He was a late signing last year and did a decent job. I’m guessing Taylor liked what he saw because he quickly earned a fair amount of ice time going into the playoffs. It’s good to get these guys going so soon.
  5. I’ve kept no secrets about my petulant attitude towards subjecting my body to more abuse in the trade in which I have made a life long living. I’m eight years away from a healthy retirement but struggle to find the motivation to bring my sorry ass to the site everyday. Mentally and physically I am ready to move on so I was thrilled to hear that one of our local colleges was looking for someone to direct one of their programs. They were looking for someone with a Masters as well as experience with apprenticeship programs. I do not have a college degree but due to my many years of apprenticeship experience, I was encouraged to apply. I wrote a resume and carefully selected my references knowing the chances of this going any further were slim at best. Last week, while I was bedridden and unable to walk or drive due to an unfortunate abscess, I received a call from the HR department over there. They wanted me to interview with the selection committee. I explained my current situation and asked if I could put the interview off until this week when my health issue was sure to be remedied. Unfortunately the selection committee was meeting and doing interviews on one day only. It seems that a very solid opportunity has passed me by. So today was back on a crappy job site. At least I know the world sees me in a bigger light than the one I appear to stand in...SOB! I could have really sank my teeth into that job too. Would it be a bad look to contact HR just to see how they fared finding a director for their program?
  6. I’ll list these folks in the order that they appear on the museum’s website. Gary Bettman, Brian Gionta, Neal Henderson, Tim Thomas and Krissy Wendell. https://kdal610.com/news/articles/2019/sep/04/bettman-four-others-named-to-us-hockey-hall-of-fame/933917/?refer-section=sports and https://www.ushockeyhalloffame.com/2019 I ***** you not...?....Bettman
  7. I swear that the laser wash I frequent is saying this to me as its guiding me in. I flash back to that scene every time.
  8. Connor’s general tone was not one befitting a Captain of an NHL club. Mentioning the loss of “Looch” without so much as a nod to the new teammate? Laughing out loud at the questions about missing the playoffs? A person’s tone can be as certifying as their words. You’re right. He doesn’t come out and call the Oilers turds but he certainly didn’t fulfill his responsibility as team captain IMO. I could be wrong though. I often am. FTR I am very happy for him! I can be repelled by his tone/demeanor and still like him and want the best for him.
  9. Very correct, sir. I’ve had the good fortune to be involved with things that would blow most people’s minds. It’s meant more to me than financial gain over the years. It’s part of the reason that I applaud these stars that can just walk away. Also it’s the driving force behind my detestation of any any of these stars whining about their situations. You’ve had the great fortune to stand on the greatest stages on earth. Show some gratitude. Also, thank you for the kind words.
  10. I learned to separate how I feel about my sports teams from how I feel about myself after the Eric Lindros/move to Colorado thing. Trust me. They’ll get over it. Or, meh, they won’t. I don’t think Lindros ever cared how I felt.
  11. YES! Sorry I didn’t see the edit until now. I can understand being down and depressed. Was I full of sunshine while rehabbing from injuries? No. I ran my life savings down to $0 when I had the spinal fusion while caring for an (ex)fiancé and her daughter. I didn’t pout or fill my dialogue with negative connotations. I had a little girl to keep happy. I had a responsibility greater than myself. It’s the same reason I’ve stuck with this gig. I have the ability to help a great many people with my attitude alone. I can be an example to my peers. Connor has the same motivation as well as a big pocket full of money. Keep yer yap shut and pay it forward to the rest of your peers, kid. If you don’t want to play anymore just walk away, lips pursed if you must. Step out of the world you’ve built around yourself and be more. It’s a very easy thing to do. As far as the 10 mil, I don’t need that much so I would stop abusing my body and become a huge activist for the Labor movement and the working person. The $ that I didn’t need to live on would go to good use. You can bank on that? You are absolutely correct. It’s a personal fault of mine to see kids with the world in the palms of their hands lamenting the “what ifs”. Can’t. Friggin. Stand it.
  12. It’s all about perspective. A 22 yo with more money than God and a full life ahead of him vs a 47 yo that most likely has an early demise in his future...I’ll apologize if I’m coming of as peevish. I’m out of work(without pay of course) as I wait for a surgeon to correct the second perirectal abscess that I’ve had in the last 13 months. My point is that there are a ton of people that have occupational illnesses that are simply forgotten by society. Why would any of them give a rats ass how McDavid(or Luck) feel? Will the world care if my career ends early? Hells no! Again, I try not to whine too much. I’m smart enough and have diversified my skills enough that I’ll most likely step into another gig easily enough. Most folks aren’t in my position, which is not nearly as good as Connor’s but not nearly as bad as most. I’m not directing my ire at you either. You’re probably one of the most socially progressive posters on here. I also wish the kid well. Don’t be a dummy Connor!
  13. I could take my disability retirement right now. All of my doctors want me to do it but I’d be below my average yearly income. The neck thing may end it regardless of my wants though... Wait a minute....I misread this!! YES I would take the bonus! ***** NO would I work as an ironworker ever again!
  14. Poor little guy.... I’ve been an Ironworker for 25+ years...spinal fusion L5/S1, surgical repairs on both shoulders, badly crushed fifth metatarsal right foot, torn MCL left knee, left wrist broken twice....what am I forgetting? Oh yea. Two exposures to high levels of asbestos resulting in diminishing lung function compounded by a nearly Dailey 30 year exposure to silica...nerve damage in both arms and legs due to chronic overuse injuries. And....I’m not done yet. I have an appointment on Tuesday with a spinal specialist to find out why my neck hurts 24/7 and why my hands and feet are numb... I did it/am doing it at 47 yo because I need a roof over my head and food in my belly. No fame. No fortune. I try not to whine too much about it though. Connor should be counting his blessings, not crying in his cornflakes...
  15. Duhhh! I got in the hot tub at halftime and didn’t even see the third! I must be thinking of the two minute... I also ate an infused peppermint patty before dinner so there’s that as well??
  16. Hard to accurately describe it. He only had 6 pass attempts in the entire half. Nothing long. He would have had a pick if they hadn’t called roughing the passer. Very stupid move too. It was 2nd and 4 and he was flushed from the pocket. Instead of throwing it away he tried to throw across his body and it was easily picked. My issue was with McClappy. Far too many run plays. Then they brought Allen back out at the start of the 3rd to.....hand it off. Even my wife was scratching her head.
  17. I’m a curious person by nature... I have a few questions... 1) When do you feel that we stopped “following the constitution”? 2) How does corporate America relate to the Constitution? 3) Are you cutting the federal budget by 90% or are you cutting federal jurisdictions by 90%? Are we eliminating government programs by 90%? Defense spending by 90%? Do we ignore disasters they require the assistance of FEMA by 90%? I’ll be honest. This statement is too vague and convoluted for me to put it into a category. 4) What worth do you assign the average working American vs the average corporate owner? 5) In relation to question number one, how do you feel about Donnie’s promise to circumvent the fourteenth amendment to our Constitution? 6) How does the importance of corporate America compare to the importance as a major supplier of the worlds food? 7) Have you ever heard of the popular rural mantra of “No farms, no food?” Can Donnie recapture the lost markets for American farmers if his trade war ever ends? Has he thumbed the nose of globalization to the point that it’s biting his ass? Has it ever happened in the history of the world that a trade war ruined a provider to a market?
