  1. Been down in Charleston interviewing for new jobs. Got the last interview today at two then it’s down to Savannah for St. Patrick’s Day. Rumor has it I may be offered a job following this last one, which would be nice because the other two have asked for second interviews, which is great, but the five hour drive makes it difficult to drop in. Would make for a hell of a way to kick off the weekend.
  2. This line of thinking empowers those who commit tradegies rather than those effected by them.
  3. There’s a lot of interactions in this thread that would have gotten Jame banned.
  4. At all levels, hockey is an inherently escalatory game. Someone is going to get slashed in a way they don’t like it or cross checked in a spot without padding. They’re going to retaliate and then that person will retaliate and then fights happen. You could take fighting out of the NHL and there would still be fights in all levels of hockey because of that.
  5. Looking for a Chicago win over Toronto, NJ over Edmonton in overtime and Vancouver over NYR in overtime tomorrow. Only three games on the schedule.
  6. Ben Bishop’s large size obviously intimidates the soft Sabres into not wanting to spend quality zone time /s
  7. Nice shot though. A larger goalie would have had that with ease.
  8. I just watched An American Werewolf in London for the first time and I absolutely loved it. Best monster movie I’ve ever seen, though I’ve seen relatively few. Anyone have similar recommendations?
  9. Skinner got after Rantanen who hockey reference has at 6’4” 215.
  10. And a brain. And courage. And to rid Oz of that damn wicked witch of the east.
  11. Bump. Been seeing in quite a few threads lately talk about playing hockey and thought I’d find this thread in case some didn’t know it existed.
  12. In his PG-presser, Eichel said “if I’m going to be at the forefront of it [late runs/physical play] I might as well push back a little bit.” I hope we see the Jack pushing back from this point forward. Yes, he shouldn’t have to be the player pushing back, but if he adds that tool to his belt it’s only going to make him a better player.
  13. I suspect he’s been banned. When I last talked to him he said he wouldn’t be leaving the board by choice.
  14. There’s a whole lot of ignorance in this thread and I suspect a serious lack of playing with players of either era. Guys these days in the off-season flip tires, what the ***** do you think they did then for actual jobs? Pull up a photo of Bobby Hall and tell me he wouldn’t hold his own. 1975 all-stars would destroy a team of college all-stars (https://www.hockey-reference.com/allstar/NHL_1975_roster.html). You know who else trained much harder than their opponents and played much more and had more resources? The 1980 USSR Olympic team. And you know who beat them? A bunch of scrubs who were out of shape and weren’t serious hockey players. USA! USA! USA!
  15. I would guess the top 10% of Division 1 skaters are better than the bottom 75% of 1975 pros. But I’m not sure just any d1 team is going to be a Stanley Cup runner up.
  16. Having played with “scrub” pros from the early 80’s (albeit in their advanced age) and high level junior players, I think you’re underestimating just how good an NHL nobody is.
  17. That shouldn’t have been a call. He was taken down
  18. I’d like to see Botts go after Pavelski, though I doubt there any chance he or Thornton leave.
  19. Not usually a big fan of diebytheblade, but here’s a decent article about Housley and some of his faults. https://www.diebytheblade.com/platform/amp/2019/3/4/18249441/concerns-about-the-buffalo-sabres-head-coach-continue-to-pile-up-phil-housley
  20. Tripp is absolutely brutal. Jack Edwards level of bad.
  21. I get and appreciate what he’s doing, but it’s hard to get as excited about an 18 year old breaking the D record as it would be a forward. There’s little doubt in my mind he’s going to be phenomenal, but I’ll always be a forward first guy.
  22. 2005-2006 he tailed 73 points in 78 games to lead the team. I know this isn’t what you were getting at, but Drury led the team with 30 goals.
  23. In my mind, that’s the perfect line for Olofsson next season. He’s got the shot to convert from Eichel’s feeds and this season he’s shown he can feed passes as well. Playing with them would give him the space he needs to create and transition to the NHL game, all while adding to the scoresheet and presumably confidence.
